One Piece Chapter 741 - Usoland The Liar

Not a great chapter for me. Usopp claiming his real name rather than trying to come back and play out the "Usoland" thing for intimidation's sake is an interesting twist on his usual stuff – and probably what Oda was building toward with this "Usopp guilt trip" redux -- but honestly it didn't seem enough to justify the sheer slog we've had to endure to get to what's in the end a fairly predictable about face.

I mean, it's been… what? Three chapters now of Usopp running and everyone on Dressrosa forming a cheerleader conga line to induce him to turn around? Blergh. Maybe it only FEELS like three...

Then there's Robin... and damn if it doesn't look like Robin is out of the fight again. I hope I'm proven wrong, but at the moment it looks like Usopp will fight Trebol and THEN save everyone, meaning that Robin has, yet again, been shunted out of a fight before she even gets going.

And yes, the Kyros flashback is rushed.

All in all, not terrible, but not that fun either.

I'd love to see Usopp taking on a big shot like Trebol, surely not beating him by physical strength but, as others suspected, by outsmarting him in a way. After all he is part of the future Pirate King's crew and the son of Yasopp, people seem to keep forgetting that.
Sooner or later he has to do something big, and it's not like these past few chapters were a bulid up for that in any, right? Like showing that Trebol is a skillfull sniper, no foreshadowing at all, right? No totally all just red herrings by Oda, surely someone will have to save that good for nothing weakling Usopp.

Well, I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

First thing I noticed. I miss the old, unique pre-TS Robin.

As for the chapter itself, I too think it was dragged out and that Usopp's part could've been handled better. A lot better.

Usopp already redeemed himself, all he has to do now is to make Sugar to revert the toys back. Usopp defeating Trebol will leave a very bad taste to the readers,
1- one of the weakest Strawhat beating one of the strongest of Dofla?(Hell no!) doesn't make sense from the hype Trebol has gotten.
2- People won't expect much from Pica and Diamanté anymore.(That means Bart alone can handle Diamanté)
3- we overestimated Trebol and underestimated Usopp and other Strawhats.

Anyways, if Usopp needs a win fight, then they're other opponents out there, Dellinger, Lao G, Gladius, Buffalo, Baby 5 etc. Robin and Usopp will end fighting one these guys.

i'd look at it like this , strawhat's sniper > DD's sniper .. i can accept usopp beating trebol only if he showed atleast as much speed and strength as trebol from what he learnt from the hellish island he lived on for 2 years
don't care about their rankings in their crews (which are made by the fandom) as long as the winner doesn't win by a bullshit plot device

Also it confirms that Franky and Robin(who I'm hundred percent sure is in it just for the history lesson) are the only ones fully invested in the dwarves and I'm liking that not everyone really cares all that much.(i.e no one is running around all angry and pissed of because of people they barely know)

Good chapter. I can't wait to see the beast Kyros, in full strength and why is Buffalo still in chains?

That's an interesting interpretation, but I don't really buy it. Usopp knows that he's part of a broader SH plan, and that if he doesn't manage to take down Sugar and play out his part, his crewmates will probably suffer. We had enough emphasis on that when the rest of the crew was rather cheesily thinking "do it, Usopp!" in unison. Also, notice that his rationalization isn't "I don't really owe those guys anything" but instead "Franky'll take care of it." It's just his typical cowardice cropping up again, imho.

I don't think Usopp will beat Trebol, but I can see him ending up knocking Sugar out, maybe by exploiting Trebol's recklessness/stupidity. It will be interesting to see how Usopp limits the damage to his own body. Also, I wonder if Kanjuro helping him out is a ship that's sailed.

Really liked the chapter's drama, part with drawves was really touching. And Kyros design is simple, but the character is awesome, i really want to know much about him.

Don't care about your "bla bla overwhelming chapter bla bla", for me it's the best chapter since the begin of the switch with Uso/Robin.
BTW i didn't like Trebol/Sugar characters at all, so ugly and degusting but not in the good way (Trebol) and Sugar is boring, no personnality at all apart "go die"

They're so lame for me that you just want them go to another manga. I don't care about their skills or whatever else.

As others said, before manning up, Usopp usually has his little, touching dialogue with his inner self. Including that would've helped, but of course it wouldn't have been enough. Not making Usopp run away in the first place was the key, since he's supposed to be at least a little braver now. I don't mean that he should have been a monster of courage and just attack Trebol right away. He could have pissed his pants and hid somewhere, but instead of calling time out and running for his life, he should have at least attempted to think at a strategy to, if not completly deal with Trebol, at least find a way to keep the dwarves from near death.

do we know if even sugar fogets about the people that she turns into toys?
if that was the case (it would be a big flaw in her powers,but one that is needed since it is OP as fuck),maybe robin can try to take her by surprise since she is a toy but not under contract and make her eat the tatababasco,while trebol is busy with usopp.

at least,it was translated that way in the italian edition of the manga..i can't say if it was entirely accurate,but it has been so far.

The part with Ussop might have been "too long" but I loved it. I like when Oda doesn't rush stuff but takes his time so we can get invested better. And yeah, Kyros backstory was pretty rushed so far though.

I would rather see Sogeking, but Usopp is fine.

I did not enjoy the flashback, it was too fast IMO. Kyros was great though. Good to know how Riku get his scar too.

So you want Usopp to have a touching dialogue with his inner self, is that with or without Leo talking through the Den Den Mushi? Not making him run away.. little braver.. I said this before but there really was no clear indication that he's gotten braver post-TS. Stronger, more confident maybe but braver? He stayed on an island for 2 years, he showed a bit of confidence against Daruma, but after entering the New World he was scared shitless about the Big Mom situation. There's the time he tried to protect the children from Caesar, he went off alone to get sea stone handcuffs, that's some feats if you want but is it really more than what pre-TS Usopp would've done? Asking Usopp to be braver after the TS honestly is like asking Zoro to not get lost, Luffy to get smarter, Sanji to hit women, Franky to start wearing pants etc. So honestly the only thing "unreal" I see here is you guys' expectations of him. THIS CHAPTER is what's Usopp's growth is starting to look like - him attacking an enemy, logically speaking is waaay out of his league and him being prepared for death. Calm down? That's even more out of character for him if you ask me, strategy I agree with you but Usopp has always been someone who let his emotions get to him when it counts, his strategy comes later.

i didn't believe or disbelieve , and again i don't care about his ranking .. all that matters is how he's gonna handle the fight
and i think his fighting style is the best match up for trebol's only if he showed more speed and strength

Good chapter imho. I hope Usopp does somehow manage to defeat either Trebol or Sugar (through outsmarting or whatever), just for the reason now that once the toys turn back human, and the island hopefully gets liberated, all the toys (at least in the factory) will know their savior as Usopp of the Strawhat crew. He needs a little bit of fame. Everyone else is somewhat getting known, but Usopp's only feat is Sogeking.

Also it seems with so much buildup regarding Toy Soldier and now Kyros, and how closely tied he is to all the different stories, I have an inkling that something will either happen to King Riku, or he will take a life threatening attack saving someone else, and Kyros will take over as King of Dressrosa.

Yeah I do agree it's plausible. And frankly, I'd love to see an explanation about whether the "forces of nature" bit can/should be interpreted as "calamity" in the original Japanese text.

Also it seems that Kyros at time of 1000 victories was already world known fighter.
So I do expect somebody in league with Admiral to be that someone who gave him one wound after 3000 wins. It must have been somebody legendary.
And HA HA. at people from last week replying to how I see Kyros strength with "He is vice admiral level" or that I gotten conclusion I had from very few scenes.

No major issues with this chapter. I'm wondering if Oda is setting up something majorly epic here. The Kyros flashback does not feel out of place. He's already linked Kyros with Ussop and the Dwarves seeing as how he is their hope. I can foresee Oda planning to end Kyros's flashback with him being transfomed into a toy, in the same chapter as Ussop taking down Sugar (or Sugar being taken down by someone) which sees him returning to human form.

i can see that the whole chapter was a set up for knocking out sugar and kyros turning back into human
knowing oda's writing , excutives are gonna be defeated before the top executives , and since they all started their fights
sugar probably is going down in a chapter or two , and shit goes down from there
