Deku would never dare, but.. he might fake it.

Im reminded of yu yu hakusho where Yuruneshi fought the guy who could read his mind. Even if you know whats coming it is pointless if you can't do anything about it. I imagine that is what will happen. a strategy that can't be stopped even if you know it. I'm betting it will still fail, but it will impress none the less.

I thought of the EXACT same scene. But I doubt that can work since Sir Nighteye is familiar with One for All. And he's an All-Might fanboy no less.
-
I haven't read YYH but to me the question here is how mutable Nighteye's power is. He can supposedly see all actions a person will take in the next hour, but we don't know if he sees those instantly or by way of forecast shortly before each action is taken. If Sir can actually see an hour into the future, he'd already be aware of whether Midoriya passes or at least shows enough merit to allow him to do so, at which point this exercise seems a bit weird. I think a sense of premonition lasting an hour is much more likely, but either way we still have a lot to learn about Sir's ability.

That line of thinking always reminds me of the Satori fight in Skypeia.

First of I apologize for how horribly I spelled that and combined the names… Sleep deprivation does horrible things
Second, I would imagine that there is a limit to how much his supposed precognition gives him information wise. He would be nearly invincible otherwise. My thought is that he is still limited to what he can react to. Someone as fast and strong as All Might in his prime would likely be able to overwhelm any advantage that Sir had, but not the kid. I' thinking that if he wins it will be a moral victory instead of a real one. I doubt he will loose for the same reasons Satori did. A) there are not multiple opponents to keep up with, B) I doubt that Sir would be the comical loss type, and C) I would expect that Sir's power is actually greater than Satori's given how it was described.

not really a spoiler
! what's up with all of these rough sketches and scribbles this week?!

Since no one else posted the link. And yeah, the art is off this week
-
I hope is just an off week.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Huh, black clover also had a few rough patches. Maybe there was an incident at the office?
-
Looks like he didn't have time to finish the art. Hopefully he's just tired, not injured. He should take a week break if it's going to affect the quality of his work… but then again, that's not easy to negotiate in Japan :/
-
Bumping into the bad guy first day in the job is a bit too much. Unless the mask guy was actually seeking Midoriya and the little kid is a spy.
-
Reminds me a bit of "those" kind of Hunter chapters.
But again, it is not like something that was constant.
-
I hope is just an off week.

Huh, black clover also had a few rough patches. Maybe there was an incident at the office?
I would definitely like to know more about that if more info is released. I wonder if One Piece would have also been affected if the latest chapter released today (or if it might still be affected next week).

I agree. That was way too easy and convenient.
I also loved Sir Nighteye's diss about Midoriya being a gimped Gran Torino since I made that exact connection at the end of last week's chapter lol.
-
If it happened, is something well never ever know. Just in rumors about the time a cat sneaked into the office and trashed a few names.
I'd call it a coincidence, unless another chapter of this week was also affected.
-
Most likely. I just hope those pages get fixed up in the volume release.
-
I wonder if Mirio's costume prevents from falling it when he activates his quirk.
Probably not for the sake of comedy.

Honestly, despite the contrived coincidence of Deku meeting Overhaul so fast, I can't help thinking this is another anti-cliffhanger. Nothing serious will happen but the stage will be set for what's coming.
-
To be honest, I think some moments like the last page actually looked pretty cool in this sketchy style. but then again, I love Togashi's art when it becomes slightly off (just slightly. When it goes full mode it's impossible to like).
The resolution of the whole thing was kinda disappointing, though. It was a good thing that Deku failed to surpass the foresight because it goes against the obvious - plus, if a first-year student could find a way around his quirk in 3 minutes, Nighteye wouldn't have much of a chance against big names -, but Nighteye accepting him regardless ruined it because everything ended up going to the expect route anyway (even if the whole test was just a ruse to show Midoriya he is not up to be AM's successor).
-
Reminded me of how Sasuke touched Kakashi's bell…
-
I've seen a few people on Twitter saying that Horikoshi is in hospital or something?
Which would definitely explain why his art suffered this week. -
It seems that it is an issue from Jump's side of things
Black Clover newest chapter have many sketches and scribbles too
-
Mirio's cape is gonna be his downfall mark my words.
And while Sir's quirk is impressive, is little to no use against Chisaki and not a good idea to touch Shigi. -
Speaking of Mirio, I had an amusing thought yesterday: Mirio vs Best Jeanist

Glad Nighteye won. Keeping Deku around just to show how unfit he is makes sense. Nice seeing heroes being more proactive and investigating.
The coincidence at the end… I'll have to see how it's handled next chapter whether I like it or not. It's a bit much but superhero stories are full of coincidences. Also, Deku can't arrest Overhaul without cause and Overhaul would be stupid to give him a reason or fight him and Mirio on the street. That's all assuming Eri isn't important enough to take back by force. Or, that Overhaul is alone. Lot of ways it can play out.
Mirio going for a classic costume, nice. Would like to know his hero name. Looks like he had numbers on his chest. Million Man?
-
I feel like I just read a HxH chapter, and not only because of the unfinished panels at some points
-
Originally quite iffy towards Overhaul as a major threat because of him being introduced a bit too late but his buildup has been great. The girl being Overhaul's subordinate could be an interesting twist but yeah, not much chance of that happening.
Nighteye is looking more and more like Sakamoto every passing chapter.
I know I'm repeating something that has been mentioned lots of times but I must say it: What's with the Togashi art?
-

The wonky "Togashi" art hit Black Clover too. Maybe there was a wide spread problem.

I would have preferred if Night changed his opinion about Deku's once he realized he still avoided all the posters even when taunted. It is pretty important to be able to keep a cool head no matter what.

That would've been too easy for my taste. I prefer for Sir to still have a legitimate point or two about Deku being "unworthy" than just being a two-bit prejudicial big shot. And this helps him stand out more from the mentor relationships that All-Might and Gran Torino provide.
-
Seems like Nighteye can only see actions in the future, not dialogue.

You can walk the walk, but can you talk the talk?
-
Seems like Nighteye can only see actions in the future, not dialogue.
The impression I got is he can see only the person he's currently Foreseeing, and only their actions, but not necessarily the context. For example, all the books and paper flying around didn't change what he saw Deku doing. As for context, he Foresaw Deku on the ground but didn't realize Deku faceplanted due to actively trying to miss his All Might merch until after the fact.
It occurs to me that he needs the same kind of analysis ability hr taught to Mirio to make effective use of his quirk.

@Count:
That would've been too easy for my taste.
And the fact that his decision was already made make the fight to meaningless to my taste. Especially when the author offered the possibility to a better route. As it stands it is once once again another added because the author either loves to put to much fighting or he thinks without fighting the reader will instantly lose it's focus.
I prefer for Sir to still have a legitimate point or two about Deku being "unworthy" than just being a two-bit prejudicial big shot.
There's plenty of heroes down there but only one beacon of lights. Between the constant criticism he takes(lacking fighting spirit, or the smile in any cases) and how seemingly perfect Mirio is of course he has a point. Mirio "lost" the job due to bad luck.
But There's a difference between acknowledging that Deku can be useful and thinking he deserved to inherit AFO. Night put up a valid point that he wasn't sure what Deku could bring to his shop. A fight later Deku prove he can keep his priority straight even when under pressure. That's something he can bring to the table and makes him useful.
That's something that could be acknowledged without Night suddenly thinking Deku is worthy of his All-Might's legacy. He can easily see him as both useful and not the best choice for replacement for All might. It doesn't have to be a all or nothing scenario. And more importantly it's the presence of the fight and the comment that makes it a problem. Had it been I don't like you but I will take you because All Might said so I would not have cared as much.
An easy similar example would be the games at the start where Eraser was testing the kids and considered Deku a lost cause. He decided not to fire him in the end because he showed potential. But it didn't stop him from still having reserve or transform him into Deku's fan.
The conflict would not disapear since his problem isn't that Deku is useless but that All Might gave him the power.
And this helps him stand out more from the mentor relationships that All-Might and Gran Torino provide.
Again it's the presence of the fights or the posters that makes the situation problematic to me. Not that Night isn't his fan. You can be useful without being the future All-Might.

I don't disagree about that. But I also don't think that Sir Nighteye immediately acknowledging Deku just because he's a discount Gran Torino after all of his talk as an All-Might/Symbol of Hope credibility expert is all that good either. The only solution I can think that bothers me the least would be if he hired Deku without all of the doubting trash talk, but grew that doubt after interning for a little while and comparing Midoriya to Vault Boy.

After all of the talk about how dangerous internships can be and the gap between Deku and Mirio, I think it would be a bit awkward if Sir Nighteye was so quickly impressed to think that Deku's capable of handling an internship. That's too predictable to me. Especially since you mentioned that we already saw a scenario like that happen with Eraser. Horikoshi should get more creative and complex as Deku rises up, meets more big figures, and gains more teachers. Mind you, I don't think it would be bad at all. It just wouldn't really interest me.
Again it's the presence of the fights or the posters that makes the situation problematic to me. Not that Night isn't his fan. You can be useful without being the future All-Might.
My bad, you didn't go specific enough for me to get what you were focusing on.

New anime season 2 trailer:
The premiere date will be on the Saturday of March 25.
-
I hope they flesh out the fights that we only got glimpses of in the manga.
-
Well, to give an idea, the tournament arc covers about as many chapters as S1 did (S1 is 1-21, Tournament is 22-44). S1 did stretch some things out, so it's possible that S2 uses the extra time they've got to flesh out some fights, but I won't be expecting it.
-
The ending of S1 heavily implied that they'd be covering Stain too in S2, so I think it's pretty likely that that's what we'll be seeing.
-
I think Satin is gonna be just teased in S2, Bones seems to like the slow pace episodes and they could expend fight we haven't seen which is nice.
But hey if we get Stain that will be awesome. -
I think Satin is gonna be just teased in S2, Bones seems to like the slow pace episodes and they could expend fight we haven't seen which is nice.
But hey if we get Stain that will be awesome.I think that'd just be trolling since we got a glimpse of him at the end of S1 and, unlike All For One, Stain really isn't important enough to tease to that degree.
There's also the fact the tournament foreshadows the Stain arc, since that's when Ida hears about his brother. Also while the tournament arc took up plenty of chapters many of those were fights outside of Todoroki's flashback and in between stuff. There's room to expand but also room to condense since, for instance Deku's fights (which I think were the only multi chapter ones) can be done in one episode. Two in the case of Todoroki.

Again you are grouping being a useful intern and being a worthy succesor to All-might. I say he could have acknowledge the first without the second. And the presentation pointed to it proving furthermore how meaningless the fight is.By now Fights are to that author what T&A are to the author of Fairy Tail. A staple he will throw in no matter the context or situation.
The only solution I can think that bothers me the least would be if he hired Deku without all of the doubting trash talk, but grew that doubt after interning for a little while and comparing Midoriya to Vault Boy.
That could have worked. Or he takes him because of a recommandation by All-Might. Or he use the fight to justify his points by pointing out the flaws and refusing him for it. Or after the fights he see a useful intern but not one that should that should have been chosen by All-Might. Anything that either skip the fight or give it meaning.
After all of the talk about how dangerous internships can be and the gap between Deku and Mirio, I think it would be a bit awkward if Sir Nighteye was so quickly impressed to think that Deku's capable of handling an internship.
It was already mentioned that Milo was awful when he started and Night was the one to make him good. And Deku along with many proved they were good in that license thing. It's not like they were just thrown out there without being vetted first. And again the presentation of the fight is the big problem.
That's too predictable to me. Especially since you mentioned that we already saw a scenario like that happen with Eraser.
I'm not sure mentor doesn't like you but learn to grow fond of you is original. But original doesn't make it good and the execution chosen was bad(in my opinion).
Horikoshi should get more creative and complex as Deku rises up, meets more big figures, and gains more teachers.
One of those things could be recognizing Deku's strength while doubting his ability to succeed All Might. Probably one of the things I liked for Deku during the license arc.
My bad, you didn't go specific enough for me to get what you were focusing on.
Then it's my bad.

But if he doesn't acknowledge the second, then the premise for the relationship is barely interesting and doesn't tread new ground in character interaction. I agree about the faults of the fight and Sir planning to recruit Deku ahead of time, but I see plenty of merit in the concept of Deku's newest mentorship.
That could have worked. Or he takes him because of a recommandation by All-Might.
I don't think we need more people kissing up to All-Might kissing in this manga, especially when Deku as an aspiring hero needs to show off his worth and potential without a big name backing him up. Sir Nighteye may be an All-Might fanboy, but he should also acknowledge that he needs to evaluate someone's credibility for himself. And the fact that he likely knows All-Might on a personal level and having a critical personality should mean that he knows All-Might can be infallible. A true fan acknowledges the pros and cons of a series/character they love, after all.
Or he use the fight to justify his points by pointing out the flaws and refusing him for it.
Would've been cool, but it's hard to see where the plot advances if Deku doesn't get the internship. I don't want a copout where a situation conveniently occurs for Deku to prove his worth after failing and makes the premise of Sir Nighteye's qualms look ignorantly prejudicial.
Or after the fights he see a useful intern but not one that should that should have been chosen by All-Might. Anything that either skip the fight or give it meaning.
Pretty much.
It was already mentioned that Milo was awful when he started and Night was the one to make him good. And Deku along with many proved they were good in that license thing. It's not like they were just thrown out there without being vetted first. And again the presentation of the fight is the big problem.
The fight's execution is a big problem, and the rest is true. But that doesn't mean Sir's specific line of work and standards has to be met by just having a license. All the license should really do is open up the chance for Deku to even have an audience with someone like Sir Nighteye, not really a key to get hired on the spot. Sort of like going out for a job interview after getting a college degree. Having Deku just happen to get an internship so easily and so soon wouldn't really be all that captivating on a narrative level.
You make an interesting point about Vault Boy being helped out by Sir, but that doesn't mean anybody should have such a privilege. Or that they have the attributes that make Vault Boy so admirable. The character arc setup of Deku wanting to prove himself ever since his fight with Bakugou isn't about Deku wanting to find someone who can pimp him out as much as demonstrating if he has the stuff already in him to catch up to the others and go big. To deliver on the expectations and opportunities other people have provided for him. Night may have helped Vault Boy realize his potential, but the focus here is about if Deku even has that type of potential too. Deku's definitely useful and Sir should/does see that, but there might be more to why Sir has Vault Boy as his intern than just being a good helping hand. Sir's goal from this internship might be bigger than just wanting extra assistance and teaching someone for the sake of it.
I'm not sure mentor doesn't like you but learn to grow fond of you is original. But original doesn't make it good and the execution chosen was bad(in my opinion).
I'm talking about in the context of what we've already seen from the story alone, not genre tropes. And personally, I'm a sucker for seeing various takes on that sort of dynamic across fiction lol.
One of those things could be recognizing Deku's strength while doubting his ability to succeed All Might. Probably one of the things I liked for Deku during the license arc.
There needs to be a way of showing that so that Sir doesn't look like he's just talking out of his pompous Pro-Hero ass. It would be awkward if Deku showed up, got the job, and Sir suddenly gives a ramble about how Deku won't be able to live up to All-Might without even seeing his capabilities first. Unless Sir somehow watched a live recording of the License Exam somehow or was in the audience just because. Which would be a bit contrived at this point.
Then it's my bad.
It's cool.

I was just messing around last week when I said Hori caught the Togashi's disease

I say wait until next week before we worry. We, of all fandoms, understand that missing one week can be easily forgivable.

I'm totally cool with losing out on one weekly chapter, but I wish that there was a warning for that at the end of last week's. I just hope Horikoshi's holding up without too much of a problem.
