Robin has more of a defined personailty than Nagisa currently. He's sort of a non character. People ask him a question. He responds in a minimal sort of way. So far the only thing interesting is that he has a weirdly girly hair style lol.
Assassination Classroom: End Time

@400MillionBelis:
I'm kinda agreeing with The Daz about Nagisa. It feels like as if..Robin is the main character of One Piece. It's too early to tell right now though. Hopefully, he'll get more quirkiness.
I always felt that each of the strawhats were capable of being the main character of their own series, with Robin I would imagine a very introspective series, where the action and her tougths are drawn paralel to eachother, so we would get many moments like her linking kuma's power to a cat, or the line of tought that leads to her creepy observations.

Korosensei's weakness #5: Boobs.
Epic stuff.
-
I know this has been brought many times already, but…

I see curves
Same.
What if AssClass isn't in Jump Alpha because Matsui requested it not be because Nagisa's gender hasn't been revealed and putting it in English would force that because gendered pronouns?

The traductor stated that uses the pronoun "boku" and the other refers him eith the sufix "kun"
So with this many confused people may be sure that is a boy or don't ? (of course that from the first chapter could tell it was a boy just to look)
-
u no who else use boku
kino not tabi used boku
???????
-
Maybe that is how Nagisa is meant to be interesting…
By having an androgynous figure and being a genderneutral character... -
Maybe Matsui has purpose for it? (Although it certainly doesn't seem like it lol) He has enough goodwill to be considered on the same vein as Togashi in that regard.
But more than anything I agree with Aohige that Matsui's just cashing in on the "trap" gimmick. Heck Aohige could probably put down a page long list of trap characters to counter every Kino, Naoto, Ed, Integra, Haruhi, etc if he were so inclined…
-
The term "trap" is so disgusting and backwards.
I'm gonna stick up for Nagisa (and Matsui) from now on, because this criticism is ridiculous. My favorite character is still Koro-sensei, though. It's refreshing to have a manga where your favorite character is actually part of the main cast, if not the main character.
-
I was also pretty hesitant to use the word, hence the quotes. Pretty much took Nagisa as male from the getgo since he reminded me of Negi anyway. I don't even think it needs to be a point, but the conversation headed that way.
-
The term "trap" is so disgusting and backwards.
It's not backwards. It's not making fun of a person for dressing like his/her gender, it's based specifically on intimate relationship. A transgender is a "trap" to anyone who doesn't want that sex in a romantic relationship. If that person doesn't want that sex, you can't get mad at them for it.
To say romantic relationships should only be determined by gender is completely unrealistic. I have a girl friend that likes females with the male gender, but not males. If a male looks like a female wearing male clothes, that would be a "trap".
That said, Nagisa's sex really doesn't matter, but for now his gender is being referred to as a male it seems.
Edit: And being gender neutral does NOT make a character interesting.. having a personality makes them interesing.
People don't love Bon Clay just because he's homosexual, it's because he's awesome.
Nagisa right now feels like a pile of dirt, a VN self-insert character.
-
I hadn't heard the term trap, but usually the phrase "The Crying Game." But aside from the bitch teacher I kinda doubt that this series will have anything sexual in it. Nagisa probbly won't be getting any more action. At least I hope not. He's so friggin bland. Cute hair can't make up for it.
-
It seems to me like the student characters are all going to grow into characters over the series. After all, they are all just kids, and not all kids have a tragic past or an eccentric character. They're all fairly introverted because they're young and downtrodden for their weaknesses, but Korosensei will bring out their strengths and then we'll see them develop the confidence to bloom. At least that's what I'm hoping based on what we've seen from a few characters already.
Working with the classroom dynamic for an entire series is an interesting thing, since the core cast and setting is mostly set from the beginning. The best way to develop it is from scratch.
-
No one is saying they don't have potential to grow into interesting characters, but it's not a common used practice for a very good and obvious reason.
It wouldn't even matter if Nagisa was just playing the "straight man", but the rest of the cast should stand out instead, but here he we have a classroom full of introverted individuals making for a very… "boring feel".
-
The most amount of usage of the word "bitch" in a single manga chapter.
-
Too lazy to look it up, but how many students are in the class? Because if Matsui starts trying to focus on each individual, it might end up a bit unwieldy. Other series tend to garner around a select few students, then kinda start grouping students for ease. Like two or three students collectively count as one character based on their interest.
-
Meh, Battle Royale managed just fine. It's all in the execution. Teehee.
-
Negima managed it well too.
Until the author randomly opted to not do the final 10-15 volumes of the series.
-
 .
-
Ha fair enough, Matsui's definitely talented enough.
-
I think part of it is that we have no idea where this series is hoenstly going in the long run. It's a total wildcard. The teacher is a super fun character but that's basically the only constant we have– that and the assumption that Nagisa is the main dude.
So with only those two factors pinned down we can't decide how to treat it as a serial, whether it's supposed to be gag oriented, or if it's gonna have a large cast, or if it'll turn into a battle series (lol?), or if it's going to be about Nagisa specifically and his growth or..., or like what its overarching deal is and this hard to get-a-handle-on nature is making it difficult to judge.
I don't think that's a ~real~ flaw as long as the series lasts and actually starts becmoing apparent in the next few chapters what we can expect of the short-term future. I'm pretty sure we all honestly do like it to varying degrees (I know it's something I look forward to seeing its future), but it's definitely one of the goofy parts of running in manga magazines and a nick against this series right now.
I think its current state of just setting people up is working in its favor, since I think it's charming, at least!
-
I feel Neuro had the stronger beginning but that may be nostalgia talking. I definitely think this series has a lot f potential and I'm really excited about where it might go because (as The Beast said) it could go anywhere at this point and the author has a lot of credit to make you think something shockingly big and amazing is in store.
Not to worried about it tanking since it has its own niche in the magazine and the author has an established fan base.
@RobbyBevard:

What are you talking about? It's just on a hiatus is all. It'll be back one day with its proper ending.
-
Neuro definitely started off stronger…
it's about a demon that hilariously abuses a girl and solves detective mysteries.
-
The hilarious thing about that is, he abused of her continously for one hella important reason.
-

That it was my fetish
Nods sagely
Edit: But no really the reason neuro did actually have a strong beginning was largely due to its presentation as an episodic detective series at first. Genre-wise that doesn't leave the impression of wanting more in the beginning.
-

Heh, I remember being pissed off at that part until we found out he was trolling us all along lol
-
I think I saw that woman who was X' assistant in Neuro.

Koro-sensei had already detected and apprehended the three mercenaries before they got a shot off. He only shot himself to prove a point.
-
I kinda don't like that she actively did not use something that was sure to work on him.
His poker face makes me laugh though.
-
Koro-sensei is still pretty entertaining. Oh, Japan and it's tentacles.. and… wierd alien teachers... with noseholes right under eyes.
-
Well, all of this proves she's dumb.

Yeah, it's called Hubris, she was way too cocky.
-
She tought that the bullets were for the safety of the kids rather than being effective against Korosensei.
-
I was expecting something different but well-:
! >!

Colored pencil? NEAT, don't see that ever in jump. Its always watercolor. Gives it a unique look.
Nice piece too. That plantlife is gorgeous.
-
And to think Matui's art used to be one of the lowest tier in Jump.

I can't see whatever image it is you guys are commenting on.

Can you see it now?
[hide][/hide]Anyway, yeah this is pretty different, especially considering he didn't put the now-iconic tentacle teacher here. Pretty bold move, but I like it.

Ooooo pretty. His hair looks even fluffier .

Really? I always thought Neuro had fantastic art from the start.
-
Oh, btw
Apparently next issue of Jump NEXT (Autumn) will have a one-shot crossover of AssClass and PSI.
Koro-sensei vs Saiki Kusuo.Interesting match-up, both of them are god-like over-powered beings with quirky sense of humor.
This info is completely unverified though, so keep that in mind.
EDIT: Once we get a verified info, I'll post it here.
-
That's a really nice cover…
-
And to think Matui's art used to be one of the lowest tier in Jump.
I still think it is. He just has a good sense of creativity to make the most of it.
-
Other info from the same post (about NEXT) was verified, woot.
I don't even know if English speaking fandom reads Saiki Kusuo no PSI-nan, but it's a gag manga about a god-like psychic's whacky slice of life.
He has every psychic ability known to men, and claims he could kill every human being on Earth in three days if he really tried hard.
A good match for Koro-sensei. -

I've searched a fair amount of times, and so far it doesn't seem that anyone's actually scanlating PSI unfortunately
