One Pace

episode 9 released
-
Thanks for this! I stopped watching the anime because I couldn't stand the pacing/filler in the Fishman Island arc.
-
I'm so glad someone's doing this; the condensed version was a great idea but the editing wasn't good enough for me to really recommend to others. I haven't watched these yet but it already looks like you're putting more of an emphasis on quality. I'll tell you what I think when I've had a chance to watch a few of these :D
Edit: Just watched the first episode and surprisingly I actually preferred this part with the slower pace, I thought it added suspense :P Editing was great though, none of the cuts stood out and it all flowed naturally. My only complaint would be the sound quality and a few of the labels weren't translated.

Well if you watched it on Videoweed, then of course the quality isn't going to be as ideal. Can't really blame us for some of the signs. They aren't present in the subtitle file either.
Thanks for the feedback.

I downloaded the HD version but thankfully the audio's fine in all the other episodes.

Ah. I'm not sure why the first episode is like that. Probably just our beginner lack of experience.
ā- Update From New Post Merge ---
10 and 11 are now in the first post.
Expect 12 tomorrow, and 10 and 11 on videoweed in the next few hours.

The first raw of episode 1 was actually a raw without hardsubs on it, as we hadn't decided yet whether to use yibis encoded raws or simply russian subs raws, we decided later on to go with yibis and I guess I forgot to replace the episode, sorry about that.
-
Very nice! I've just watched episode nr1 and really enjoyed it. Even though i watched anime as it comes out it was still nice to see it again with fast pace :) So during those 40 minutes how much episodes was put into? 3?
-
Hey! Uh, maybe when you guys get to Punk Hazard, can I propose you use this shortened version of the Opening I made? Its runtime is exactly like when they had endings, so it's only 1:30 minutes instead of the awkward 2:30 Hands Up has.
-
Actually One Piece opening were 1:50 long, not 1:30 :D
-
CLOSE ENOUGH
There's not really much other good things I could insert. Maybe clips of Brownbeard and the Yeti Cool Brothers.
-
I was thinking, that maybe you could do One Pace with more recent episodes. This way that people who really hate current pace can watch those instead of real ones and not wait for them for very long, assuming you will get to the newest ones. That would mean watching one good episode once a month or three weeks :p
I watched 2 episodes already and it's really enjoyable :)

We're trying to release as fast as we can to catch up with the recent episodes.
In 2 weeks we've done 517-549 so we will probably catch up in a couple of weeks. -
Episode 12 is now in the first post.

We'll probably go with the original as the lyrics are off in this one.
-
I commend you on doing this! Keep it up and you'll catch up in no time. I once thought of remaking OP anime w/o fillers, but then the bgm was an issue and I just couldn't be bothered with it. You are succeeding where I failed

episode 13 is now released
Amazing! Flashback is FINALLY over, even with this cut up version is SO long,
Looking fordward for the next chapters!
-
Episode 14 is now released.
-
@400MillionBelis:
Start with Enies Lobby, IMO.
Totally. It got to the point where the first half of each episode was recapā¦and then you got the pleasure of watching the slow paced story that ensued, which itself was filled with redundant dialog about how powerful CP9 was, how scary the Buster Call is, how helpless the Straw Hats were, yada yada yada.

Episode 15 released.
Episode 16 will be delayed as I'm going to London and will be back on Tuesday. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I second this. I recently got a friend into One Piece, and I've been watching it with him. We're about to start Water 7, so I would love to watch a better version of EL.
-
whenever (not for a while anyway)the dub finally gets through and finishes enies lobby i would love to see a condensed version of it,show the dub some love too please

I can dig it. But isn't pirating (har har) the dub sort of a taboo around here? Supporting FUNi and all. Seems everyone just sort of accepts it with the sub and all. lol.

Not only is it in poor netiquette to pirate the localized dubs, but it's also more likely draw unwanted heat from Funimationāespecially since they're going to be trying to sell those episodes in the coming months. They've been pretty content with the fansubbing communities working on sub-only projects for English speakers but pirating their dubs certainly comes across as taking advantage of that good faith.

Yeah I figured as much. FUNi's got the whole series subbed on their site for free. They may not pursue fan subs too much but the dub is what they've poured their money and resources into.
-
I love what's being done hereā¦ but I just watched episode 15 and I have to ask... what was the deal with Randomly adding a Manga page at the end there?... Is this the first time this has happened here? It came off as really... bad... it was jarring due to the extreme out of place nature of it...

Alright, alright. I could see how that might come off as rude and being on grateful. It was just a simple request that's all. Just so were clear I do in fact own every available DVD out now for it. Its just now I've come to love funi's dub more so than the sub is all :-) they really have put there all in it. And would have loved to see it get the same treatment, but that would compete with the current product out.

Toei majorly butchered the scene. We'll only do it for still scenes such as that one that were just horribly drawn. That's the first time it's been done.
-
well i personally liked it becuase it showed how good it was drawn in the manga compared to the anime so more people might come to like the manga asswel.
@sewil or Galaxy 9000
I was wondering could u also add the episodes that are coverd in each episode u make if it aint to much work? -

No worries. I think it'd be cool too, just explaining why it probably won't be done around here. Your best bet is probably to do it yourself, but that's kinda a pain in the butt.

Probably won't happen. As people said, pirating the dub isn't really accepted around here.
It's already illegal enough already.

I understand the sentiment behind it but going from the anime, full color, motion, and not drawn by Oda to the black and white manga static image drawn by Oda with speech bubblesā¦ is really REALLY jarring and takes you out of the episode entirely... if you really insist upon doing this... I recommend having someone actually colorize the manga page in the anime style so that it looks like it belongs with the rest of the episode.

The only other scene we've thought of doing it to is the emergence into the firey sea, instead of just a storm when they arrive in the New World. I'm sure there's some fanart somewhere that looks like a painted still the anime would use.

Yeah, I saw one over at DA, I think something like that could work out.
Toei absolutely ruined the entry to the new world with an APIS level filler.
-
If you can't find an image that is colored the right way so that it feels like it belongs with the rest of the episodeā¦ it might be better just to not bother with the inclusion of the manga page in the future... I love this project, and I want you guys to keep going... but I gotta give my opinion and criticism when I feel it necessary and... random manga page in the episode just... looks terrible...
-
Yeah, the criticism is fine. It helps us improve the project.
Anyways yeah, we'll try our best to find something that fits for that scene
! .
That's the one I found. English would be gone of course.
-
PM me the biggest version of the page you have please. You guys have a little bit still until you get there right?
Let me remove the speech bubbles and SFX entirely please. I can do it in a way that looks good and will make sure the scene looks like it belongs with everything going around it. This is one thing I'm really really good at (Not to toot my own hornā¦ but just... Look at this and this.)
-
Yeah, we're currently up to 554, and we won't release again until at the earliest Tuesday, due to Sewil's absense.
-
The manga panel was thankfully not as bad as I feared, only there for about 1 second. Still, I agree with Rin in that if it must be used, perhaps some quality colorizing would make it seem less jarring. I'm fine with the speech bubbles and text there.
-
Yeah, I agree with Rin & Mr. Luffy. I'm not against adding the manga panel in place of the horribly butchered animated one, but only if it's coloured. That one you linked to earlier where they arrive in the New World would be perfect.
-
I already have one at home from da without speech bubbles and text.
-
I love the idea, but i'dd recomend keeping some changes the anime did instead of using still images, some things just can't be fixed, unless you can animate it from scratch of course.
-
Why was there a manga panel in the latest episode. It was so abrupt and jarring.
ā- Update From New Post Merge ---
I am a doofus! stupid 16 characters

What does jarring nean

What does jarring nean
That something is really sudden that it it kind of shakes up up. Like if you're sitting in your room and a really loud clap of thunder comes out of nowhere and it makes you jump; you might say that the thunder was jarring.
Personally I had no issues with it.
Keep on with the fantastic work!
