While reading, I do notice Oda puts some references to past arcs on the outlying characters and environments. Could just be another one of those.

You guys should check out this week's One Piece Podcast episode with Greg and Stephen the official translator of One Piece . Really interesting discussions and theories about some of the future plotlines that Oda set up in this week's chapter .
I can't think of any of the top of my head, but sometimes he will draw a character that references a previous part of the story, like the man with the Sun Pirates logo on his jacket. There was that man a few chapters ago who had a jacket on, that referenced Doffy's defeat I believe in a cheeky way. I'll try and find it.

Edit: Currently listening to the podcast right now. Always the highlight of my Monday.

3 hours of people just talking? that's too much…
3 hours of people just talking? that's too much…
The podcast is divided into sections . The first 1 hour and 16 or so mins is dedicated to manga recap . While the rest in anime and what not .
3 hours of people just talking? that's too much…
Also, some good theory discussion. So imagine this forum board but in voice mode. Maybe not the best…but still entertaining.
I actually enjoy long talks.
The speakers have to be entertaining though. I stopped watching reviewers like Forneverworld because he's basically like;
"I wanma get in with Nami so bad", " this is stupid" "it would be cool to see this"
It's just not interesting and most of the stuff he says is shit.

I could see that happening. If it does, I hope we get to see Shanks crew in action. Interesting to see how Ussop reacts to the news to the defeat of his father due to the Blackbeard Pirates too.
I don't see shanks being weakened himself. Just his allied forces

I started listening for the last two months or so and basicly I just listen to the manga part, they have sections in the podcast so you can listen only what you want, also note sometimes they can be a little annoying like last week where they were making a joke every 10 seconds while reading/interpreting the chapter but its usually fun to listen.
What if big mom do get hold of caesar, wouldn't that get a reaction from kaido? I'd assume he still want to continue the smile production
I think in fact, if Big Mom acquired Caesar, that would be the center of Kaido's focus. It might even be beneficial to the Straw Hats, as it would take some heat off of them.
Youtube videos and podcasts are poorer versions of forums. You have a bunch of people talking about what they understood and that's all. On this forum you get to read every sort of opinion. Videos and podcasts were always annoying to me.
In fact everything discussed there was already stated here. Nothing new in the last op podcast episode :(

Tbf, this is a focused forum on One Piece. Once you join this place or any forum, you're going to see every possible option and anything else is gonna seem a little thinly veiled. :I

That, and my day is already too short as it is.

If you wouldn't read illegal scans a week before they get to the discuss the official chapter, stuff would look quiet different.

I get to listen to it during work, wouldn't during my free time either though.
Looking at the horns and that snow island, could Kaidou be a giant viking? Sure, that should not be a DF, but maybe he wasn't tranformed there. Unless we have confirmation of the island name could also be Elbaf?

Exactly I listen to podcast when I'm doing something else.

Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way. I've never actually been annoyed by them before, but last week the jokes during the manga recap were just a little over-the-top. I just wanted to hear them discuss the chapter.
But, whatever, it's their podcast, and as I said, this is the first time I remember actually being annoyed, so they do a good job.
I knew that Akainu would be pissed at the WG because Doffy used the CP0 and spread misinformation around the world.
What I didn't expect is that even the Gorousei seem to work under the tenryuubito. If I read "the highest authority among the WG" I assumed that nobody is above the gorousei.
And somewhere on PH a Piece of Saka's ear is hidden. It'll be the next "One Piece"…
Akainu's ear reminds me of Tyson vs Holyfield
About the rest of crew situation ..
I see a scenario, where BigMom gets hold of Luffy By a Den Den Muchi and tells him she got some of his nakama, he gets furious and decide to drop the whole Kaido thing and aid toward Big Mom. Law will refuse at first but agrees later due Luffy determination.
an unlikely scenario, yet an interesting one.
SPOILER FUTURE: Blackbeard is going to attack Doflamingo ship and take his fruit, also Lafitte will hypnotize him and he will get information about those weapons of mass destruction that the governmen has.

You said it's unlikely and it really is as the whole.going after mingo is a setup to take down kaidou.

Tamago only wants to sink the ship and retrieve CC. It's a fight the Sunny team can't afford to lose. If they get captured, the ship sinks.

Even when I take that into consideration, there have been plenty of times that they've glossed over something really interesting that I wished they would have touched upon. That can't be helped though, things always slip through the cracks. It's not always like that though, on occasion I've seen them point out things that have gone largely unnoticed on this forum.
I used to listen all the time. Then my kids started to grow, understand and imitate. If they wouldn't curse so much I'd listen every week. Head phones won't work when I'm alone with toddlers and infants running around the house and listening after work once the kids are put to bed doesn't work either. I have to jump through a few tiny hoops now to listen and at the moment I'm too stuck in my ways to change my habits and schedule.
Does anyone think that AoKiji is playing the same role in BB crew as Rocinante was in Dofla's ?
Any chance of seeing Sanji and Co this week before my honeymoon. If it is really a "shitty" situation for them as I think it will be I have time to forget it…
PS
I'm a pussy and afraid from the flight =(
congrats Kishido, do enjoy your honeymoon. no worries! it harder than hitting a jackpot.
Yeah great thought whoever said the Hawkins card thing. I totally agree. I'm thinking he read it based on if they would die however, not if they would succeed. Bc the other warlords would probably kill them whereas shanks might just let them go after wrecking them. As others have said unless BB gets involved there no way shanks goes down. I'm still curious how BB got away after scarring shanks before his df though

yup, no way he is actually aligned with them. He may want to shake things up in the WG, but no way he's a true BB nakama

Has anyone thought about how the newspapers came out so quickly, in the very same day this all happened? Seriously, this has been a busy day for the press. 1 newspaper in the morning like usual, 1 newspaper at 3 p.m. to correct the news of Doflamingo quitting the Shichibukai and another newspaper at… 7? p.m., or something, just to inform the world that the alliance took down Doflamingo and Dressrosa is a bunch of rubble? Isn't this all a bit too fast, compared to the usual (newspaper coming out on the following day)?

If sunny and co do well then expect another newspaper about them… Thnx to Absa.
One Piece's timeline has always been screwed up.

Hmm, could be. I'm personally leaning more towards the Octopus Octopus No Mi user though, with their own freshly-produced ink and their ability to operate 8 machines at a time. In fact, maybe the whole publishing house is operated solely by critters, with those delivery birds, Absalom who himself is part-animal, and of course an Oyster Oyster No Mi user, who being an expert in perl handles all matters concerned with the in-house development of software.
@Game:
One Piece's timeline has always been screwed up.
Really ?! I think that the timeline has always been top notch.
This issue is more related to Oda's careless portrayal of medias and information. He innovates every arc which is cool but also inconsistent.
For instance, Vivi could have stopped the war with 3 calls.
So with Doflamingo down, is Kuma next on the chopping block?

Kuma vs Franky for best cyborg in the world title! But it's too soon, maybe at the end.
Oh yes, forgot about something, Tashigi said they will get to Vegapunk in a few days, could it be that our favorite pirate crew will also be present there? That would make Vegapunk related to either Big mom or kaido's islands… hmmm.

Come on, be serious, man. How will he handle his takoyaki business, and the publishing house? Oh, I should have known: Join "Date Dec 2014". You newbies seriously lack some insight when crafting perfect theories such as mine. Bow to my superior 2012 cred, you mere mortal. Mwahahaha!
Perfect theories aren't reality.
In regards to Kuma, I still firmly believe the bible he is carrying holds the key in turning PX-0 back into Kuma. I mean Kuma was(or maybe still is) part of the Revolutionary Army. Why would the Revolutionary Army give away such a valuable asset to the marines? Personally I think Kuma's bible was infused with a DF that allows you to store your memories in any object. Wether Kuma is the only one who is aware of the DF, or if Vegapunk is aware of the DF, and is working for the revolutionaries is up for debate. I think Kuma's last request to Vegapunk before he became PX-0 was to a keep the memory of owning a bible, and to carry it with him wherever he goes. If you look at Kuma at Thriller Bark and PX-0 at Marineford you will notice that he carries the bible with him in both cases.
Perfect theories aren't reality.
I agree with you. And I'll take it even further: reality isn't reality. But let's not discuss the possibilities of alternate universes hosting for instance, people with oblong brains, and ears on the back of their heads. They surely exist, but I think that might be beyond the scope of this thread.

Well those topics I really couldn't bother wasting valuable time. Because like others I enjoy my own things.
Instead of speculating on something we really wouldn't get the answers to, well in this lifetime at least, I follow a manga in which I'll know that I'll finally find out what Kaido looks like.

Have you considered the possibility that Dragon is just kind of an asshole?
Dude ditches his kid, what's one of his flunkies compared to that
Luffy being ditched would be explained
I believe Dragon wanted Luffy to choose his own way of life.
I hope Coby's with Tsuru, since she's with Sengoku, who's always with Garp.
I think WG plans to make a huge army of pacifistas and Kuma will be the leader. Dragon will turn the pacifista army again't WG. And I also think Vegapunk could be working with Dragon.
Have you considered the possibility that Dragon is just kind of an asshole?

True. However Dragon may have already started the Revolutionary Army at this point, and already has large bounty on his head. Personally I think Luffy's mother is already dead at this point. Right know I'm thinking Luffy's mom got on the wrong side of the WG, and the WG killed her. This leads Dragon to form the Revolutionary Army. Anyways Dragon is so desperate to get Luffy to safety he turns to the one man he thought he would never speak to again, his father, Garp. The rest is history.
I think the Bible he carries contains vivre cards of the many islands he's visited and marked for easy travel back and forth, which is how he knew where to send everyone.

God i hope he doesn't have a big ol' sob story behind it to make it all better.
Atleast Usopp's dad was up front about the fact that he prioritized his career before his family.
