Have you considered that maybe in a world that needs drastic changes there isn't time to sit around and play happy family? If Dragon is an ass then so be it, Garp is an ass too for throwing Luffy into the deep end numerous times as a youngster to fend for himself. Luffy turned out "right" this way because he was never actually spoon fed or looked after by his parents. (let's call it tough love)
Then there's the matter of Dragon always looking towards east blue, whether it be subconsciously or deliberately he has a yearning to go back to his home/family, at least that's what it looks like when Ivankov calls him out on it.
I know you were sort of joking with what your wrote but I don't think he's an ass, I do think Yassop is though.

Atleast Usopp's dad was up front about the fact that he prioritized his career before his family.
Unfortunately, I can totally see that happening. Oda can't just give no reason why Dragon abandon his only son. Dragon should have at least asked Garp to meet at secret location with Luffy when Dragon thought Luffy would be able to understand why he was a no show for the first part of his life.

Oda said Luffy's mom was drawn already so unless one of the females that died in one piece was his mom (I mean how many dead females have there been?) then I don't think so either.

We already know the reason, he went to make the world a better place for everyone and the people he cares about the most, that's the best gift you can give your children, a peaceful life not ruled by tyrants and corrupt people. If Yassop can give the reason of just wanting to sail around with Shanks then Dragon doesn't even have to give a "valid" reason.

I don't think Luffy would give a shit, he didn't care when Garp told him. Plus, he actually did see his son off from the shadows when Smoker tried to kill him. What he saw might have impressed him enough to think he turned out to be a fine young man. And if that didn't then the wanted poster of Luffy he comments on later in the series definitely made him proud.

When it comes to one night stands Garp stands out in my mind more than Dragon for some reason. If Garp has relationship with Tsaru however, then I don't think a one night stand would be possible. She strikes me as a no nonsense type woman, and would not tolerate Garp's extracurricular activites.:ninja:

He is powerful and strong willed, as expected. But is reinforced by Ivankov commenting on Luffy saying "Just like his father" on different occasions.Garp as beastly he is, he was just like Luffy was seen when we started. That's his Grandson.
It seems to have flowed to Luffy, the difference being we haven't seen Dragon have a proper conversation or interaction, like Garp did post Enies Lobby

I just think that Dragon didn't want his son to have to go in any single direction he wanted Luffy to choose and with him in his life he couldn't do that so he left. Ironically Garp tried to force him into being a Marine and we all know how that turned out. It wouldn't make sense for him to look at East Blue and save Luffy if he didn't care for him. I think he loves him a lot and that was one of the reasons he was able to leave. Also kinda explains why he was at Goa kingdom.

The thing is that the point of Capone was so luffy and law can gain him as ally so he helps them defeat big mom. They have x drake as supernova that will help them take out kaidou.

I am not opposed to the idea (as in it seems like a possibility), but I am not 100% convinced with the idea, either. The reason I mentioned Kaidou was because Capone seems adamant about catching Caesar. While Law wanted to keep Caesar in check (mostly away from Doflamingo, but we can assume Kaidou, as well, since the Strawhat-Law alliance is targeting him), Kaidou obviously has a motive to want Caesar. If the supplier cannot supply, why not go directly to the source?
While I could be wrong, I think it is within the realm of possibility.
