seriously, it's Nu-Metal, what is worse than Nu-Metal
The WORST Genre!!!
-
-
I'd probably agree. I hate picking a genre for worst though just because there's so much I haven't listened to. Nu Metal seems like a good contender though.
Edit: But Hair Metal is in the poll… That's a hard choice to make for me.

hair metal can be kinda fun, lots of those guys didn't take themselves that seriously and i think most people who listen to it dont either
none of that can be said for nu-metal
-
Yeah, okay, I voted nu metal as well. A lot of genres with -core after them suck too. Just imagine: nu metalcore. shudders
-
Nu metal at least had a few bands that got lumped into the genre that were actually kinda good. SOAD was a good group and I'll stand by that. And, as previously stated, hair metal can be fun. I can assure you, though, that nothing good has ever come out of deathcore or pornogrind.
-
Hair Metal is great. It's so goofy you just have to love it.
-
Isn't AOR (and possibly 70's FM Gold, though I'm not totally sure what that is) a programming format rather than an actual genre?
Anyway, I'm not familiar with most of the genres on there, so I guess I would say Nu Metal is the worst among them. Though, as Wagomu said, SOAD actually aren't that bad from what I've heard.
!
I can't stand Rage Against the Machine though. As far as Hair Metal, the most I'll acknowledge is, no, these guys never did anything deep or progressive. But I don't care, they rock and I'll never admit that they outright suck.
!
-
I voted for Nu Metal,
but then I realized Crunk / Snap music was on the list,
so I wanted to change my vote to Crunk / Snap music, but then I realized Nu Metal was on the list,
so I wanted to change- -
I'm a huge fan of SOAD actually. Save for most of their Toxicity album they really do have a lot of great songs imo:
!
-
I must not listen to enough music because I have no idea what half of those are. I know nothing of metal. Of those I do recognize fairly well, pop emo is the worst. If only cause of really bad memories.
-
I know nothing of metal.
Lets just say that the two types of metal listed in the poll are among the worst types. They are the worst types unless you count all the terrible -grinds and -cores as metal and not as "anti music" like they really should be thought of as.
-
But grindcore, goregrind and old school metalcore (hell, even a few of the new school bands) are great.
-
New summer goal: Learn to distinguish between the 3,248.5 different subgenres of metal.
-
I agree it's kind of ridiculous but generally you can just use the big ones: death metal, black metal, doom metal, power metal, thrash metal (is speed a separate thing or a sub of thrash?), NWoBHM, and folk metal. I think that covers almost everything. Progressive might be separate as well.
-
I voted nu metal but I admit I used to listen to limp bizkit. Not religiously or anything of the sort just once in a while. If a song came up on my ipod by them I wouldn't have skipped it then. I guess I'm into the raw energy that comes from playing that kind of music. If I had a drumset you bet your sweet ass I'd play some nu metal. I know the genre is shit but it's some sick shit to bang on drums. Not even that hard either.
Hair metal, like some have said, is so goofy that it really isn't worst genre for me.
-
None of you have ever heard gorenoise, otherwise you would pick other and say that.
-
Hair Metal is awesome! AOR is also pretty cool. And I even like a fair amount of nu-metal (although I'm not really sure which bands are and which bands aren't nu-metal)… Maybe I like bad music :P.
-
I'm regretting not putting Nerdcore on..

Sounds like it!
-
Nu-metal or gorenoise. I honestly can't pick which one I dislike more. I'll just put down nu-metal.
-
Hair metal is awesome how can anyone hate it

UNSKINNY BOP BOP BOP
just blows me away yeaahaahah -

Yeah same here, System are great. But I wouldn't really call them Nu Metal, they're kind of hard to categorize.
-
For the most part I would agree. SOAD has a distinct sound to them that I personally think is hard to categorize. But Nu Metal is probably about right.
-
Hard to say. There are so many genres and sub-genres It's kind of impossible for me to say what's the worst.
If I had do choose, I would go with lolicore. Heard like 5 seconds from a random song and deemed it one of the most horrifying experiences I had in my entire life. -
Well that's easy
Smooth Jazz, which is mostly what AOR is really talking about on this poll here Nobodyman
Nerdcore Hiphop is a close contender but
there's this really terrible mini-movement Zephos forgot about:
…..
90s Swing Revival
-
Nu Metal and a few other genres are really abad, but imo dubstep is by far the worst genre.
-
You mean brostep.

Pure revival movements should be a poll option. Any band that does that firmly roots themselves in the belief that the best music has already been made and that creativity is heretical.

Yeah I really fucking hate bands that come off like that.
I savaged the Black Crowes and Olivia Tremor Control on my lists for that. And if I review She Wants Revenge I'll probably do the same. -
Aw man Olivia Tremor Control is awesome tho
They're not "revival" at all and everything they do is run through this bizarre-ass filter into some really noisy, trippy territory in exceedingly heavier doses than anyone they were inspired by
They are very much their own sonic environment and creative as shit, influences were "visible" but that was all.
best thing to come out of elephant 6 if anything

Maybe that describes their second album, but I can't respect a band that works hard to sound exactly like 67' John Lennon.
-
Dusk at Cubist Castle shits all over John Lennon's boring ass and yeah I'm talkin' bout OTC's first album
They're far more Smiley Smile meets Steve Reich than John Lennon anyways, vocals aside and both of their albums have got some insaaaaane reach. It's some of the best psychedelic production anyone did.
Olivia Tremor Control resides very firmly within their psychedelic peers and not outside looking in
-

Oh yeah. I actually do like a few Limp Bizkit (and Korn) songs.
Hair Metal is awesome!

Oh. Hmm, not really what I was thinking at all. Can't say I'm really familiar with Smooth Jazz or Jazz in general.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts.
