@Gia:
Now Monet. I really dont get why people say she gives off the Robin vibe. She isnt really a negative person, she also likes to say playful comments towards people she's affiliated with. Now the most important thing is her power. It already has been sort of stated/confirmed, that she is a shapeshifter or can somehow create objects or things of that sort. She also gave the vibe that if she fail her mission, Dofla will kill her, which totally sets her up for Luffy solving her problems. We need a female like her, but we'll see as this plays out, not just the arc, but the whole DressRosa arc.
Its Robin in Baroque works vibes. You have this enemy character of ambiguous alignment (well, not really with Monet all that much, but people like to think so), she's an agent in an undercover villain organization, serving under a major New World enemy, shes less of a livewire, and more calm and collected, with a general, relaxed "mfufufu, how amusing/interesting" attitude. Just like Robin. And I know Odas females arent exactly having a lot of faces to choose from, but with her generally maintaining calm slightly smiling expressions, she even looks a bit like Robin.
Personally, I think Monet has been vastly over hyped and will be taken down as no more than a Doflamingo agent; Again: Monet in no way displayed anxiety when making that remark about Doflamingo - on the contrary, she makes an evil liplicking smile. She remains perfectly calm and loyal after that.
After all, 99% of Monets support is that she's a female character of a certain age and level of attractiveness, because the forum has a diehard obsession with getting more boobs in the crew. Ever since the Next Nakamate fever really took off, I've seen Perona, Caimie, Bonney, Margaret, Hancock, Shirahoshi, Monet and now Baby 5 being declared prime candidates, and I wouldn't be surprised if Big moms 3 eyed subordinate has been supported as well because "She looked vaguely uncomfortable! She'll leave and join Luffy!".
The only exceptions to this trend I can think of are Madame Shyarley and Sadi-Chan.
Also, why on earth should people join the crew based on them just having logia powers, or some arbitrary "need for a pet", compared to having a tragic past, good crewmate chemistry, unique role and abilities, and a clear dream, which has been the bar set so far, and has ensured that only great and memorable characters are included in the crew?
