In Japanese the characters used for the DF names can be converted to number pairs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_wordplay
Since any DF name is that name twice followed by "no mi" to say that is is that "fruit" those number pairs become four alternating numbers. Go = 5, mu = 6 Gomu Gomu= (5.6.5.6.).
Luffy→Gomu Gomu (5.6.5.6.)
Chopper→Hito Hito (1.10.1.10)
Robin→Hana Hana (8.7.8.7.)
Brook→Yomi Yomi (4.3.4.3.)
so we have 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,10
missing

So that is why I am asking if it Does it matter if the name pattern of the fruit is 9292 instead of 2929?

Looking at Robin and Brook, no it doesn't matter.

Wouldn't it be cool if Kuma just is a red herring whose fruit name was exactly thought out for it, eh?

we also have 9 from the native Japanese reading (ko) and SinoJapanese (kyu or ku)

However, Kin'emon never struck me as being the next nakama and we already have a katana wielding swordsmen in the crew.
The problem is its a faulty assumption that because he might have the fuku fuku no mi that he will have it at the time of person who joins the crew.
Or maybe an existing member eats the DF.

Of course that relies on Kin'emon dying. I mean he's a samurai from Wano so I could see an "honorable death" happening and given Moriah's warning about Kaido slaughtering his entire crew, I don't think that's out of the range of possibility.

I guess I could see Nami eating the fruit? Of the current non-DF users in the crew: Franky wants to keep the ability to swim, Sanji wanted the invisibility fruit and is better suited as lifeguard with his bluewalk, I don't recall Zoro or Usopp indicating anything, but I could see Nami. It's kind of a novelty ability so far, so its not like it'd change her fighting style/weather science stuff.

That's assuming someone currently in the crew eats the fruit and not someone else.

As for another current member eating Df…........I don't see that. Thought there was a minor hint in anime ( anime only) that Franky has interest of learning a way of giving Df to weapons, machines. He found vegapunk's blueprients.

I had an interesting chat with a Japanese visitor recently. If you say for example Mero (like Mero Mero is love), it would not be understood as love. Whereas when I said well what is Mero Mero? She goes ahh yea now i see where you get that from.

I think you just take the word on its own and dissect it? Not so sure. But good luck, hope to find out what's going on!!

the men are pretty varied in the crew so the women should too. nami and robin are too similar (yes they do have their own unique personalities, but still).

Among the current crop of characters who are being pegged as potential crew members, he's the only one who I'd give some consideration though at best I see him gaining honorary crew member status like Vivi judging how he's been brought to the story. Ultimately, we have to wait for Wano, or the arcs leading up to it, to see how Oda will make(Or break) Kin'emon's case to be a Strawhat.

I've got faith, if a crew member joins after this arc I feel like bartoroemo has a chance all be it slim. Most of the other characters were introduced as good people, unlike all the other straw hats. I do think your right but we all got our favs

I don't see any chance honestly. Luffy doesn't even know his name and the arc is almost over.
But I do think that Barto will join the crew in the distant future.

The problem I have with Bartolomeo is that he hasn't stod up from other characters. There were so many new interesting characters this atc, and IMO Barto just hasn't stood up enough from others.

Ussop was a captain, lol and franky had his followers. Also in a comment above I did mention barto already having a crew. Look I know it's very unlikely but that's what's rad about one piece who the fuck actually knows what's going to happen? Who do you think will join if anyone even does.

Both of their crews were still on their home island. Bart's sailed out with his crew for over a year now from the East Blue.

Bart also doesn't have much of a character arc, a backstory, etc. As much as you like him, he's a side character just like all of the other gladiators in this arc.

Sorry, but as much as I love Usopp, he is invalid to use as an example of why a captain of another crew could join the SHs.
Reason for that is that while yes there was the Usopp Pirates but they were a kids group playing at being pirates, they were not a real crew in that they never went to sea.They never lived together, the crew were still on the island of their birth and at end of day slept in homes of their mothers.
Trust me it breaks my heart to say that, I would love to see a flashback of the Usopp Pirates being real pirates, they really didn't need to go to sea for that, just sail around the coast of Gecko Island, stealing boats then selling them at a different location would be enough to be real pirates. But all we see of them is playing pretend at chasing after dragons (lizard) and monsters like a cerebus (poor dog)
But its the kids families that was responsible for their welfare (food, clothing) not Usopp.

Franky though is a good example, as that bounty hunting group did stay together, really needed a leader (Franky then Iceburg) to get things done (like finding jobs ect). But it could be pointed out that Franky had to leave them for them to be safe after he received a bounty, as pirates, neither Barto or Cavendish have that worry, they already have bounties.

It would be better to use Usopp and Franky as examples of that their dreams did not lie with the current group that they were leaders of, and they joined the SHs to travel to make their dreams come true. We don't know what Barto's dream is, it could be something that leads him to leave his current crew to join Strawhats.
There is also the possibility of his crew not surviving the Birdcage. For all the "Oda doesn't kill characters" gripe, he does kill off non-essential crews (mentions of Kaido offing Moriah's crew, Brook's original crew, ect.) And we only know of one member of the crew, who knows how small it is

Seriously, I doubt Barto will join, as its been said Barto & Cavendish have been shown to be equals and both won't be joining. But I do have to acknowledge areas of argument

The only "surprise member" we had so far was Robin, and even though it was unpredictable, it made a lot of sense when explained. All of the others were pretty obvious right from the start of the arc. Or at least the middle of the arc (like Franky).
Now it seems the Strawhats are gonna gather a lot of allies. Entire crews to join them in the possible war to come.
As for the next crewmember… I don't see it happening in this arc. None of the characters are possible candidates in my opinion. None of them would have a reason to join.

Lots of people.

Series isn't as random as you think it is. New characters, powers, designs and major plot twists, there's not much guessing in advance about, but in terms of actual story structure, characterization, and plot, Oda-san is very methodical in his setups, foreshadowing, story structure and payoffs. As a result, we've had a ton of members accurately predict, and provide reasons for, numerous things years in advance with a fairly high track record.

Jinbe. No one from this arc. Light possibility on Kinemon.

We all know Law will never join, Rebecca would be a joke of an addition to the straw hats, Viola will stay in Dressrosa to help rebuild it (as will Rebecca obviously), Cavendish won't…whose left? Barto. I highly doubt this arc spanning the length of time it has, would end in just higher bounties. That'd be seriously underwhelming if all they get is an increase to their bounties no matter how much it increases by. We have to be getting a new member from this arc and the only one who makes sense is Barto.

I heard the argument "HE HAS NO BACK STORY!!!"...yeah neither did Robin till Water 7/Enes Lobby. We really didn't know much about her at all till then, yet she joined well before that. So having "no backstory" is not an argument that should be used against Barto joining. He's also practically worshipping Luffy at this point, I think he'd beg him to let him join. Yeah he might have his own crew but like Franky, he can leave them to pursue his own dreams. Its not an impossibility. Honestly, Barto is really the only one who makes sense to join and I think it could very well happen.

I just would be really annoyed if they only increase their bounties at the end of the arc. I'd start to lose faith in Oda tbh since that'd be a really weak ending to Dressrosa. Yeah we know Jinbe will join, but that's not until after they deal with Big Mom which won't be for a while yet so we can get a new member before he joins.

I said this about 10 times in this thread already: why would a captain of his own crew join another crew? (I know Ace did that, but from what I understand, his whole crew merged with the Whitebeard Pirates, but we don't even know who Bartolomeo's crew is. I doubt a bunch of random people would join) Bartolomeo's crew will definately be an ally crew from now on, but him actually joining makes no sense at all. Just because this arc is long it means someone HAS to join?

At least Oda gave us tons of new allies. I think we will keep seeing pirates like Saï, Barto and Cavendish very often. They might even escort the crew to zO.
Eitherway, the crew is still traveling with Law, Ceasar, Kin, Kan and Momo.
All those new faces tagging along have pretty much the same impact on the story has a new nakama.

With half the crew split off, and the timetable Oda has set for encounters with the emperors (Big Mom's party being in 2 days now, and Sanji's group already entangled) it's likely they won't actually get bounty increases for a few real world years yet… not till after defeating their first Yonkou. And given that timetable, it might well be their last bounty increases of the series.

This mess is keept underwraps untill the resolution of Big Mom anyways. The travel time of Fujitora (and whomever goes with him, being Doffy for trial, or Riku for testimony) will be longer than whatever ends up happening in Whole Cake Island.

If Bartolomeo joins the crew, Cavndish has to join them as well and we all know that ain't happening!

They might be getting the bounty raise because of them reappearing after two years in Dressrosa and wrecking everything, what happened in Dressrosa, the alliance between their crew and Law crew.

Spiral hats crew could get a bounty for their actions: kidnapping CC, don't know about their fights with Big mom if that could give them something.

And looking how luffy got his pre ts bounties, I imagine he could get a new one for defeating one of the best and most important warlords.

Luffy is still in the 400 zone, when Chinjao , ace are at 500 and above( And I think it was said that enel too would have something like 500, unless my memory is bad). So unless Luffy jumps from 400 to 700 or something, I imagine the pirate king will have much more then the 500kk some, not that big names, have.

He wasn't any more out of left field than Usopp or Sanji.

Oda had shorter arcs then. He introduced new guys and you could tell they were important immediately.

If they were going to get a post Sabondy raise, they would have already since Sentomaru was seen reporting their raised strength… and we even saw a newspaper fromt he enxt day about the strawhats being reunited. That was an ideal time to give them some sort of raise. Sicne then, its been a fast and furious set of events.

Yes, obviously Punk Hazard and Dresserossa are going to figure into their next set... but for instance, Luffy beating down Moria didn't affect his bounty the way Croc or Lucchi did.

The timetable Oda has set down, and the fact that the crew is split in half right now, means that even when they do get increases for Dresserosa, the readers aren't going to see it for a while... and THAT considered, depending on how the yonkou stuff goes down, might not apply till after they've dealt with Big Mom or Kaidou.

(Its hard to say how that is going to go. Big Mom has has more build up as an immediate thing, but Kaidou is probably involved in Wano and is tied to Dofla and Ceaser.)

Dumb theory that doesn't deserve its own thread: Big Mom is Lola mom so they will have the traditional banquet after the arc in her boat after Nami shows her the vivre card and tells them the story from Thriller Bark, Dressrosa is destroyed after all(unless they can use Green bit).

I don't see how in the world Luffy and Usopp won't get a bounty raise after Dressrosa and maybe even Zoro, Robin, and Franky. Luffy is taking one of the strongest warlords out and everyone on the island knows it is him. The whole God USopp thing would make me think he is going to get a bounty and Zoro and Franky both took out an executive.

Most people agree that this arc is like Alabasta so i could see Luffy getting a significant raise to 500 Mil. I doubt they won't get one this arc. The rest of them i am less confident on. If Sunny crew does something maybe then they will all get bounty raise to even it out. I don't see half the crew going up while the rest stay the same.

They only reunited like 3 or 4 days ago.

Its only been 3 days.

day 1= reunion at SA, sail and arrive at FI, have battle
day 2= leave FI, arrive on PH, fight Ceaser, make alliance w/Law, Law threatens Doffy
night is shown on Sunny waiting for morning to see of Doffy gives in to Law's blackmail
day 3 = arrive on Dressrosa, have Gladiatorial battles, then the big everyone vs Doffy Family fight and Luffy vs Doffy.

With the reemergence of the SHs, confrontation with the Pacifistas/Sentomaru, encounter with Smoker/Tashigi(?), the Alliance with Law, and the stuff on Dressrosa (taking out another warlord), I'd be shocked if there wasn't a bounty increase some time after this arc ends. I think it would probably happen within a few days of leaving Dressrosa, so probably this year or next in the real world. On a side note, I think Oda really needs to start allowing days to pass without any major events happening. The way he plans it, they'll be fighting an emperor within a week or two of reuniting. That seems insane.

THIS. some downtime with the crew could also finally answer some questions about time skip stuff as well as show interactions with the few potential crewmates

Also it makes the whole story seem bigger, more epic. That would be cool to allow more time to pass in between events. Like a bunch of people here are saying, let's get an adventure arc going. Something like Skypia. Just get the crew exploring again. Less mission oriented. If that's even possible at this point. Who knows, it's gotta end sometime.

I'd like to see another exploration arc, but only after Jinbe joins. He deserves to do something fun with the crew before all the plot kicks into endgame.

Well if Dressrosa = Alabasta PTS then the next major arc would be Skypia…..

The Spaceman

Our big exploration arc will probably be Elbaf (adventure in the land of giants!!). I dont think we can do an adventure arc soon with the crew separated and two waring Emperors. Who knows though.
