Post how your day was…

Got it on my third try. Damn fakes.

@No:
You rebel you :ninja:
I know, quite the badass, aren't I?
The main reason I didn't go is because all we have today is English, and yeah, its too easy.
Our teacher is a fun guy to be around, and the class itself is kind of entertaining, so I considered going because of that and the fact that I knew I wasn't going to sleep after I woke up anyway, but staying home and creating a Showdown team that I might be able to defeat Dyrish with proved to be much more interesting.:ninja: (Yes, I actually spent few hours and created a couple of teams and tested them quite a bit to see if any of them is ready for whatever the parrot have in store for me)
-
I am completely exhausted and drained and tomorrow will be worse and I really have to prepare tonight but ohhh I also have a counselling session and I am already tired of lugging heavy things around all week - why does this problem seem to follow me everywhere I go? - and I had 10mins for lunch today and we are pretty much getting all the work that the perm staff is too busy to do but we're already on our feet all day long and we had no time to drink water or eat breakfast and bah just bah
(humbug)

Oh, sorry to hear that Trapped :(
Is the heavy lifting a part of your regular work schedule ?

Thanks :) And nah it's not really, it's just that as "research assistants" we're like the lowest rung (which is fine with me, we don't have enough training yet for me to feel ready to take on that much more responsibility :P working in the government is no joke) so we do a lot of errands and such, in addition to our other work. Got a meeting? We need to be there half an hour earlier and carry over all the materials and make sure there are snacks and that the room had been aired out. I understand that it's just work that has to be done and basically everybody's busy (that's government organisations for you). Most people are really nice about it although tomorrow I'm practically going to be at two places at once because they decided to have us take minutes for a meeting that we're not supposed to be part of, they just decided that they should include us to make us feel more like part of the "family" it's just also P.S. we also need note-takers thanks :) And after you take notes you can go
haha also I think I must have looked really stressed and flustered today because I got like four gentle pats on my shoulder, like "calm down it's okay, take your time" and they were people I didn't even know XD
-
Well, just woke up and had the bandage/cast thing that's supposed to be on my nose stuck in my hair. The adhesive is no better than that of a Post-It note…:getlost:

Can I read a 300 page novel about a female slave's life and write a 4-5 page essay all within the 24 hours(now 12ish) before it's due and get a decent score, all on chapter hype night?
Maybe.
Watch the paper doesn't even properly print out or something.

It all depends how far you are into the book, how quickly you can type/write, and how tired you are already. Either way, good luck to you!
Oh, and don't be like me and procrastinate; start writing as soon as possible. Something is always better than nothing.

LOL, you're seriously overestimating how much I know. I was around for the first few months of Gen V OU and have no idea how BW2 and the later fluctuations of the metagame changed the way it's supposed to be played, so if you know anything about team building you're probably going to sweep the floor with me.
Also, I have a ton of homework for my Chinese course that I need to do a chunk of when I get home today, so you'll have to wait for a while before we actually get to do that anyway. :P

I kinda assumed that you're a pro and all because you seem to post on the X and Y thread quite often.
Naaw, man, its alright, I wasn't expecting us to play today anyways. whenever you're good and free we'll go.
-
Damn it, all the tables near outlets in both the cafeteria and the library are taken. Certainly doesn't help that most of the regular tables are being reserved for an open house or something.

Actually I can get online through my phone I think, what's your showdown name?

Thanks a lot man! its helloiamraay, just drop me a post of my profile when you wanna play.
Btw, I know nothing about Gen 6, the match we are supposed to have is gen 5. :P just so you know

lawl oh crap, my team is gen 6 :(. I can make a new team but itll take me like 15 more minutes :| lol
Are you in the lobby, or in a specific one
-
Sorry to still be going on about this…it feels like I'm taking over this thread and I don't particularly want to be doing that, but it helps to vent a little...
Remember that grad scheme assessment day I was really happy to have qualified for, the one that would give me a good chance of escaping my current rotating contracting/unemployment?
Yeah, they scheduled my friend's funeral for the same day. I can't go to it.
People tell me to be strong and to focus on what can be done, but I honestly feel my reserves have gone dry by this point. Instead of dealing with it, I stayed up most of last night watching Firefly and eating Marmite from the jar with a fork. I'm going to try calling up now to see if they can move me to a different day, and hope that the Job Centre don't sanction me for it (that sounds ridiculous, but they honestly do take any reason for sanctions they can be given and I kinda need the money) but I do kind of feel the world's being deeply unfair right now and I want to throw a tantrum like a 4-year-old who wants sweets but isn't getting any.

Sorry, had to get some stuff for my dad.
Not on yet. I'll be there now.

If they can't reschedule it, I would simply miss the funeral. It's a friend, it's sentimental, I get it, and I'm not telling you it's not a big deal. But you should be prioritizing and taking advantage of the oppurtunities given to you, especially in this generations economy. I'm sure the parents of the friend would understand, especially if you two were so close.

Umm, she was the closest person to me in life and we shared pretty much everything for years. So no, out of the question.

Would you expect her to do the same if the roles were reversed?

Please stop, Anr, you have no idea how important this is to her. It might seem weird, all things considered, but in her place I would probably do the same.

Oh, poor Print. You're really having some awful luck, aren't you?
Life can be unfair at times, sometimes so much so, that it feels as though there's no hope left. But it's all part of growing up, and learning how to handle these unfair experiences. Just try to remember that there will always be more opportunities in life and that there are people who care about you, and will help you if you ask. …Sorry if this isn't helping you at all...
-
@Print:
Not continuing this.
I'm sorry, I know this is a really really touchy subject for you. I was in the same position as you 4 years ago, although it was family and not a best friend. It's an entire different animal, but I believe that people have a natural instinct to make sure the closest ones do what they can do to become the best they can. I don't know your relationship, if you're necessary as that support for the family, then you're making the right decision, period.
@Toraish:

It's not werid it all, there's no belittling tone regarding this, I'm hoping my latest response is seen as more sincere regarding this

That's not a tantrum.
That's just not wanting life to step all over you and there's no shame in that !
Really hope that you can get it rescheduled Print :O
-
Anr, all other gaps in logic and human emotion aside, how well do you honestly think someone is going to perform on an exam when she is missing the funeral of the person closest to her in the world to take it? Far less devastating things have affected my own test scores at various points over the years. I mean seriously, you might mean well, but you're not really acknowledging the situation at all.
-
If the situation weren't already happening, I would explain why I see where Anr is coming from, but I feel that would be disrespectful toward Print and the decision she's already made. Best of luck with rescheduling, Print, and I'm sure you're a strong enough person to pull through all of this.
-
Well, it happened.
My hours have finally been fucking cut, which means now I'm gonna have a harder time paying bills and buying groceries.
FUCK MY LIFE!

Terribly sorry to hear that, mate, hope you'll manage :(

Good to see you guys still hanging on there! It's good to see some optimism around.
Do you swedes need to do a driving test before getting the license? I heard that european vehicle controls are pretty chill and its easy to start on the get-go
There are places that don't require tests for licencese?? 0__o

Today I discover that pain and hungry makes me crazy, kinda neat (not realy no).

I did consider attending the assessment anyway and trying to just deal with missing the goodbye to someone as close to me as a family member (honestly) but there's this. And given they do assessment days every month anyway, and that there are other opporunities out there even if not quite so great, and there's no choice. But it still doesn't mean I don't find it unfair. I find the whole thing unfair, and genuinely traumatising in some ways, but I'm not going into those details on the whole. Just trying to keep moving, somehow.
Speaking of which, the mutual close friends I've been staying with since Friday have helped a load in stopping me from having those terrible thought spirals. They've also taken me along with them to their roller derby team's training sessions, which I found weirdly soothing - maybe it's the sound of the skates? Makes me almost wish I could be part of it, but then, I can't skate - the few times I tried to learn ice skating were ordeals of trying to get off bitterly cold and wet ice with my feet bruised and blistered and keeping my hands from getting hit by other people's skates. I know roller skates are better than that, but still…perhaps better I just watch? Not as if it's not actually quite exciting once you work out what is going on.

What the hell, was this guy banned for this?
-
Found out today I got accepted to University for next year :) (currently in College, just gonna finish up this Diploma first). So today was a pretty good day, on top of that I signed up my test for my Personal Trainer Certification. So pretty good day.

Okay…
1
! Do you know how awful it is when people hate you for a reason that you can't even figure out?
Okay, for the third time this week, I go to my car and I see it covered up with something, this time around its ice cream spread all over it, last time it was dirt.
Someone in this neighberhood hate me, and they show their hatred by fucking up my car. Its been happening for months now.
And to make matter worse, almost all of the people living here are far relatives, we have the same last name, even this neighberhood is named by our last name.
Like, I understand that you feel netural towards me, or that you dont want to interact with me, hell, I don't want anything to do with them either, but for them to go as far as frequently do shit to my car is fucking annoying.2
! Well, today is a special day in islam, we're supposed to be fasting.
I am not sure I can go through it because unlike my bros and most people who're fasting I havent eating anything last night. All thanks to Steel Ball Run3
! I spent 95 ryial on the English book, all of the money I was saving for the 3ds and pokemon Y. Please shoot me

I was playing with him just yesterday :(

Lightly testing my masochism today. Gonna wake up at 8AM(it's 3:30 AM right now) and cram study til 4 AM tomorrow morning. I enjoy the thrill, it's like an academic hate-fug. Barely studied lately because apathy, which is really stupid because I had a 4 day weekend. Still a million times preferable to last night's last minute paper though.

I got through most of the book, over 5/6 through when I decided I had more than enough material to write my paper. There was a decent amount of fluff to make it longer. Pretty articulate, but might seem to have a bit of rambling. I'd expect a C or D.

Not me, I just stopped talking to him in that discussion.
Incidentally, I got moved to a different assessment day in December.

Good luck! Those kind of sessions are kinda transcendent. After 24 hours, the line between what you're studying and your actual reality begins to blur.

Yay, thank goodness. It would have been so awful if they had treated you as unfairly as you feared.
-
I hear you can just buy them in Greece. Well, not legally, but easily or something …
I dunno about that. I know from a friend that you can't even rent a moped without a valid drivers license
They seem pretty strict about it, for a laidback sort of country. But eh let's leave it to the court of Chrissie
-
@Toraish:
What? That's not true at all, at least not over here in the neighboring country. o.O
Getting your mandatory lessons plus the written exam, the driving test, and the license itself costs a bit over 3000e right about now, and the exams are incredibly strict. The written part is relatively easy for everyone because who doesn't know or learn the traffic regulations, but the driving test is incredibly grueling. It kind of depends on the company, honestly, but most driver's schools employ a policy of one major infraction (i.e. something that can be dangerous in traffic) = failed test.
@Monkey:
There are places that don't require tests for licencese?? 0__o
Yea i sort of phrased it wrongly. What i meant was that you could drive around as practice as long as you have someone with a license (doesn't need to be an instructor) but i forgot the place. Maybe it was something i heard in passing without any confirmation. :/
Still do you guys allow overseas licenses? If let's say i wanted to drive around sweden but i only have right-hand driving experience.
-
I think we atleast allow EU, Swiss, and Norweigan licenses. As long as they're valid in their homeland
If it's outside of the EES zone you need to have it translated and verified in some manner that i don't know by heart
-
Still do you guys allow overseas licenses? If let's say i wanted to drive around sweden but i only have right-hand driving experience.
I'm not entirely sure about Sweden or Finland because both of our licenses include mandatory winter driving lessons, but I think there's an existing bilateral agreement between Singapore and the EU as a whole allowing both licenses. The same goes for most (?) US licenses too. My cousin's getting married with a guy from Arkansas and he gets to drive here, so I would assume it's fine. Depending on the country, obviously.
Oh, and, before Zeph starts laughing at Arkansas, the guy actually seems to dislike the place a lot for its backwardness. So yeah. :I

I am not sure I can go through it because unlike my bros and most people who're fasting I havent eating anything last night. All thanks to Steel Ball Run! Is this fasting for Ashura? I thought that was a Shia holiday commemorating the Battle of Karbala. Do Sunnis also observe Ashura?
Sorry for my ignorance. I'm South Asian and have seen rather macabre observations of Muharram.
