and i did that thing where you throw your fists down to your sides to emphasize a point of anger in your speech.

Without me noticing, the dog came up beside me, and i ended up punching him hard in the eye and making him whine.
His eye was half-closed for a while, but luckily he seems to have recovered.
He was avoiding me and acting distant all afternoon though… like i'd made him afraid.
It broke my heart because i thought our friendship was ruined over a freak accident.
I had a small cry about it, because he's my little buddy and i'd never hurt him on purpose,
but since then i've played outside with him and he seems to have perked up.

All seems fine now, but that situation was so damn upsetting. Just glad that it's over.

Been double-checking a Translation that i thought would be easier since it's already done… I know that two different people can have different opinions and stances on how to translate something and there is never a perfect translation and you have to take the context and backgrounds and so much stuff in mind when doing one but holy fuck if i ever see this dude i'm gonna fucking kill him, tear his head off and shit down his neck.

I'm starting to curse the vile doings of the internet, or should I say, internet providers… Because of it I stay up till 2-3 am every day so I can talk with my boyfriend. Worth it though~

So I told my grandparents about what I'm going to do on the 1st May (spending time with him) and they took it well. Of course my grandma immediately said: "Bake some cakes for him, it's so easy, you can do it too" meh, we'll have to manage by non-baked goodies~
In only one week, squeee~ I can't wait.

About uni: Swedish teacher is starting to remember my name! Today, he borrowed my test he just handed out because he didn't have a copy himself (we write these kind of test every week) and took mine because it had the least mistakes to correct. It was an awesome feeling~

Today, I helped my former environmental science teacher package wildflower seeds to give out to students and had a nice time doing so. It feels good to be able to give back to those who offer their wisdom and time to myself and others. The weather was chilly and wet most of the day, but when the sun came out, I went to the store with two of my sisters and bought snacks and coconut water. All in all, a good day. With some One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in between.

The thing is how we describe that "grade". The thing with the romance ones is that they had a lot of influences throught their history not only in semantic ways but in sintactic in some instances. For example, Spanish has a whole lot of influences from muslims that i reckon (not totally sure) is not present at the same degree in, say, french. Also, sometimes the tenses have slight differences… but don't take my word from it. Haven't been in contact with linguistics in a long time. I'm pretty sure someone else in the forum can explain this better.

While I agree with Prismerito, the fact is that without knowing portuguese I was able to immediately understand what Captain Ugly was saying. The similarities are definitely there, but I think that while it helps in understanding a large portion of what the other language is trying to communicate, it doesn't mean you can just go and try to speak that language immediately and expect to be understood.

And yea, Prismeru is accurate in that due to Islamic influence in Spain during the centuries before 1492 there are a considerable amount of words we took from them, like Algodón (cotton) and Alfombra (carpet.) Meanwhile in Latin America, there's the words we take from languages like Quechua and Nahuatl that will also add to the diversity of the language.
Sintactically though, I get the impression we pretty much just stole most of it from the French. But then again it's been a while since I was learning French grammar so there might be some moods or tenses that are different … I just can't remember them right now.

Well yeah who doesn't realize that. But my point was more like it's a huge leg up compared to most any other language.

Fun fact. My old Spanish teacher used to tell us students that in Spain learning another romance language is seen as the lazy route, since it showed that you couldn't be arsed to put in the effort to learn an entirely new language from scratch:ninja:
