Yeah, its a pretty awful thing to joke about. And even if the comic book was really what triggered the suicide, you'd need to have problems much deeper than that to even consider such a thing. Its really sad that anyone would be so quick to point fingers at a comic book rather than try to figure out what the real underlying causes are
Nardo and Bleh Thread III: Naruto is a terrible terrible manga
-
-
Whether the circumstances or the reasons were stupid or not, a fellow human being still died. Joking about that is just horrible.
Thanks for saying that I got a bit pissed reading that above..
-
I am relieved to see that at least half of this thread has common sense (regarding the suicide note).
-
I agree totally. I find it a bit disgusting people making jokes about a suicide. People say it's the parents fault but what can they do? If someone is troubled like that they may not even see it or think it is him just being a teenager. Also counselling doesn't always work. To me it is just a tragedy.

@RobbyBevard:
A kid DIED.
Don't joke and insult about it, regardless of the source.
I'm not usually one to laugh at things like this, but it makes me mad how fucking stupid that kid was.
-

Like some people already said, we don't know all the truth about it, i'm sure it wasn't only because of that. And even if that was the only reason, maybe he was stupid, but come on, this is no laugh matter.
-
@Devil:

Using a fictional character's death as an excuse to kill yourself is pretty laughable. If he commited suicide because of other reasons than what was mentioned in the article, it's different.
-

A young kid who would do such a thing only means he/she had severe psychological problems. His environment amongst other things were probably at fault. It's really easy, especially for youngsters to build psychological barriers/walls in front of them and prevent them from seeing the brighter side of things.
-
I actually find it more stupid how authors of the article phrase their article.
-
Suicide is no-joke territory. Kid death even more so. All that potential was snatched away from that person in their youth. I find it hard to do anything but want to rehabilitate messed up young kids; there were these two kids that beat their grandma to death for the change to buy a pizza, and while the initial emotional reaction was to give them a trial as an adult with the death penalty for a lot of people, people eventually realized these total bastards (what they did was still completely screwed up and horrible and petty) were 13–no matter what, there's just not a complete guarantee they have the life experience and mental judgments to know what they did was wrong, and they were probably killing other things before they struck a human. They were messed up, needed to be rehabilitated for a long, long time, but yet not rehabilitated in our horrible prison system. If you wanna joke about a kid dying go make a thread about it on the A**hole of the Internet website (aka 4chan).
-
I actually find it more stupid how authors of the article phrase their article.
Yeah, "more after the jump" was a terrible choice of words.
-
@RobbyBevard:
A kid DIED.

Yes. And it is sad. If the only reason for this was a fictional character "died" on tv then while it's sad it's also pathetic. Either the kid was mentaly unstable in which case the parents realy suck for not doing something about this if they already saw signs of it before, as the father states, but if the kid was actualy "normal" and simply did it because he loved a fictional character that much ? Then honestly…..all I can offer is sadness tinted feeling of slight indifference.
Because.....this just goes over my head in so many ways that I can't even react to it.
-
At least, we can see how many dicks are posting here. I am glad they aren't much.

Millions of kids die EVERY DAY, for BETTER reasons.
This Narutard dying for Itachi is basically SHITTING on the faces of the millions who die of hunger or struggle with disease. He deserves to be laughed at, and I will laugh.
For every dumbass like this kid, there are a million other kids dying elsewhere in the world who DON'T get news articles. Funny how no-one is showing sympathy for them or doing anything about it, and yet a bunch of you sit here and attempt to criticize me with your fake sense of compassion by telling me not to laugh at this one kid.
Nothing against you personally Robby, just your post perfectly represents the dozens of other similar posts after yours. In the end nothing of value was lost.
..
And wow…it takes a suicide to make this thread serious for once lol -

Still, suiciding is not a motive for laughs at all, not even because "HURR DURR HE WAS NARUTO FAN".
Really. We are not going to cry for all the dead children here, but at least you people shouldn't put a manga rivalry on the way. sigh
-
So what do you guys think of Amanda Todd? :ninja:
-
I'm fairly sure Bleach ended when Gin took out Aizen, thus having an unusual take on shounen i.e letting the antihero save the day. Yes my words never happened but surely since Bleach is fanfiction level writing now, any ideas from fans better than his tripe should be considered canon.I particularly like the ending with Orihime destroying the hyogyoku and granting Aizen his wish of becoming a human.
-
While I'll agree that the poor kid ended his life for no reason at all(provided it's as simple as presented, which I personaly doubt),to me,that makes his death all the more regrettable.
-
What did I miss:
@Friend:
Well people after a long time away during a lurking period I return. If everybody has forgotten me fine we can become reaquainted!I chose this thread to start with because no matter what it has been called, to me this will always be the "hilarity ensues" thread.
Welcome back, man!
@Barbe:
…..Jesus Christ. I suddenly remember the other Naruto-fan related death.....didn't one kid try to emulate Gaara's control of sand....and met an unforunate end in a sandbox?
...Anyway, this is still pretty bad. The kid shouldn't have died because of it. :I
-
Some of you are seriously messed up, like what the f*** is wrong with you messed up.
You're really going to rank the reason from good too worse for the death of children?
Seriously what's your ranking criteria? And no I don't want this to be seriously answered. But let me leave this lesson of common sense, there is never a good reason for young people to die no matter the circumstances, it's always a tragedy.
The second thing is don't be a tool and believe everything you read, good god use your head. To think that this is the only real reason for the suicide is beyond stupid, this was a news report from an animesite, that just happens to highlight that anime related circumstance in their report and you guys just take this as it is? Seriously I think I'm beginning to think people that take everything they read in wikis at face value aren't as bad anymore… -

And wow…it takes a suicide to make this thread serious for once lolI don't get how feeling bad for this kid who died somehow means we're not sympathetic to others. It isn't like we have an alotted number of people we can feel bad for. And seriously, saying nothing of value was lost? Thats fucking awful. Who are you to judge whether this kid's life had value? Especially since the claim that it was about Itachi's death is heavily suspect, and even if it was true it'd probably be nothing more than the metaphorical last straw coming on top of a pile of other issues. Life has value, and just because someone like's a comic book you don't doesn't mean their life didn't have value. How can you claim to know what this person could've accomplished had they lived a full life? Death is tragic, but the really sad part about suicide is that a person is cutting their own possibilities short. You can say it's stupid, and maybe it is, but that doesn't make it any less tragic.
-

Maybe, but I feel the likes of a fictional character dying can't be compared to serious things like being bullied, having abusive parents, and so on
Makes me wonder what the circumstances were.

Nobody said it can. The idea that it was a fictional character's death that caused it is pretty suspicious in the first place though, and even if it isn't, I said it'd probably the last little thing that finally broke the kid. Think of it like a table with a weight limit, after which it'll break. If it's at that limit, anything, no matter how small, would be enough to send the whole table crashing down

Hm….
Doesn't that make the death all the more tragic? The "final straw" being something so....minor in the grand scheme of things? To me, it does.
-
Honeslt i don't like speaking about these things but here is my 2 cents.
I believe this is the fault of the writer of the article, i dont believe that he really killed himself because itachi died. Might have been a factor, as in his "figure" gone or something. But the writer did not describe one bit how other aspects of his life were. -
Of course. If the kid really did die because of Itachi's death, he had to have been super unstable beforehand which means someone let it get to that point. That said, from what I understand that probably wasn't even the case and it was just something a tabloid jumped on because it was more interesting than just another suicide
-
Thanks for the welcome Metamario! Anyway, my real issue with current Bleach is no sign of Ishida, who was one of my favourites when the series was fun. There must be something about blood in Naruto and Bleach, you know like unlocking magic family powaz! The shinigami powers made sense, as did the hollow powers (what with Urahara creating the hyogyoku). Thanks for shitting on Ishida, Kubo you smug arsehole.

Anything to post something anime related, I guess…..
Still tragic no matter which way you view it.

Technically, ANN wasn't the one who first reported the article and the idea that it was Itachi's death. THat whole thing comes from a paper called the Daily Mail, which from what I've heard is infamous in Europe for being unreliable, blowing things up to great lengths, and that sort of thing
-

Like the "National Enquirer" here in the US…..
....Now, that just makes the whole thing worse. To possibly ignore all the other problems the kid had and focus on the anime part, something so minor....because the more I ponder it, the more I have to doubt Itachi being the lone cause.
-
Daily mail is the shit mail of England.
-
Oh THAT sexist, racist, homophobic rag of shit.No doubt the article was another account of the ill effects of mass media, disregarding any other factor listed above by various posters.
-
Wait, the source is Daily Mail? The tabloid newspaper? Lol.

Exactly,it's simply unconcievable that he would end his life only because a fictional character sorta died.It must've been wayyyyyy more complicated than that.

And wow…it takes a suicide to make this thread serious for once lolI didn't want to get involved in this at all but NO for fuck's sake that's just NOT acceptable to me. And thanks to the poster below for expressing pretty much the same opinion. If you want to go the road of Darwin Awards, laugh all you want, but the simple matter of suicide for whatever reason is not a laughing matter, and it's quite clear as many others have stated that for doing something you need to be mentally unstable from the get-go, have other reasons. Yes it is a shame that there are people and children dying every day, every hour. But don't start valuing one over the other. Likewise, if one doesn't get covered by the media, that's the media's doing, and has nothing to do with the value of life. Just because we hear of this one and not of others doesn't mean we can laugh at it because the reasons seem (and there's CLEARLY more to the story!) irrelevant. Would it really help if you'd hear of every death all around the world? You're not going to tell me you are conscious of that happening every minute of your life, are you, because then you'd probably collapse mentally as well. Seriously I'm out of here until this topic has calmed down, it makes me mad.
Some of you are seriously messed up, like what the f*** is wrong with you messed up.

facepalming myself was there seriously ever any doubt about the legitamacy of the news.
I can't fathom how people can read that and just think, "i see that's what happened" without doubting it one bit.Even if this news would be from a more reliable news source I'd still doubt it. Maybe I'm too harsh, but I don't really believe it takes a lot of knowledge about human nature to be able to discern that the reasons for suicide are never that simple.
I mean you're actively going against your surviving instincts… -
That's the problem with media these days, they're willing to 'spice up' any story to make it marketable. And since we now have 1 fact (a kid just killed himself) and 2 speculations (why he did it), I think it's obvious that it's useless to talk about whether this kid deserves to be joked about or not.
Can we just move on and just trash Bleach/Naruto like usual? It's bad enough that a 14 y/o kid committed suicide, but making jokes about it over a questionable source??
-
Good point,,let's drop that shit..
So here's one for Nobodyman's list:If Kyuubi is a living mass of evil chakra born from humanity's malice, then how can he be secretly kind and simply "misunderstood"?
-
-
Did I mention kust how annoyingly uninspired those scanlation ragefaces are?
-
Yeah, let's move on…...this topic doesn't abode well in a thread based off hiliarity and ridicule. :(

Ah thank you, somebody else that's in the same boat as me. Each and every chapter I don't see Ishida, I get more angry with Kubo. What is his deal? This arc is about his own kind. Quincies are alive. Quincies are declaring and fighting war against Shinigami…..remember how in the beginning, he hated Shinigami? Then he became friends with Ichigo, set out to save Rukia, and fought with Renji.....shouldn't there be some kind of emotional conflict here?
Like Ishida is surprised and somewhat....relieved/happy to know his kind is still around (Quincy pride was always an aspect of his character), but horrified to see the barbaric approach they're taking to "get even"? Naturally he would want to ally with Ichigo, but the Vandereich would view him as a traitor and not be pleased.
.....But no, instead we have Ichigo injected his place, because now Quincy hertiage to revelant to Ichigo's line, the Shinigami/human hybrid. And Ishida is pretty much out of the loop to what's going on!
Why Kubo? Even last arc was a bust, because Ishida was out of comission for most of the events AND mysteriously disappeared and was not important in the final battle.
Kubo screwed up Orihime, Kubo REALLY screwed up Chad…..Ishida was the last one to have a fighting chance.

I don't think you understand suicide, or mental illnesses that lead up suicide. Don't compare mental illness with external factors that lead people to their death.
He deserves to be laughed at, and I will laugh.
Well, there are millions of other things to laugh at, and this is not one of them. In fact, you must be a disturbed individual that derives laughter from this. A sadist even. Those who commit suicide are not to be mocked. Mental illness, chemical imbalance, lack of a healthy social environment, (etc. I could go on) are all reasons for someone to commit suicide. I feel sorry for you for not trying to understand the mind, even if at a minute level of a person who acts bizarrely to commit such and act, but it's obvious. The kid was not well.
I mean, I can be rough with others, including myself if someone plays the victim, or starts to be down on or hates oneself, but to not understand the difference between a kid who actually went through the act of suicide, or someone who has attempted suicide shows ignorance. Learn the difference. There are many people who are just mentally weak. Why make fun of that? Unfortunately this kid wasn't able to grow out of that weakness. This is nothing but sad.
yet a bunch of you sit here and attempt to criticize me with your fake sense of compassion by telling me not to laugh at this one kid.
Okay tough guy… We have a false sense of compassion... While I don't care to search for unique and complete compassion amongst posters who have stated this incident was sad, because it really is, I just chalk this up (your comment) to internet bullshit. Because that is what it is. Meet anyone in the real world and find them laughing at someone suicidal or someone who committed suicide, and you'll find something disturbing about that individual.
-
No. He'll have power arms that can shoot reiatsu arrows plus he can now summon fairies
THere's a character in Bleach who could summon fairies now? When did that happen? I feel like I'd remember something like that

-
Wasn't Orihime's power was originally to summon them fairies? Or whatever it is called…the healing power was initially just a byproduct of her......reality rejecting power (or was it:wassat:)
-
16 fairies of Orihime?
I'm pretty sure I'd remember if Orihime could use fairies. I mean, something like that would have to have been relevant at least some of the time that she uses her power. Next you'll be telling me that one of these fairies actually allowed Orihime to have some level of offensive capabilities:ninja:
-
Wasn't Orihime's power was originally to summon them fairies? Or whatever it is called…the healing power was initially just a byproduct of her......reality rejecting power (or was it:wassat:)
Yeah, her powers come from the fairies.
One of them forms the offensive strike.
Three of them form the defensive shield.
The final two of them form the healing circle that removes wounds by "rejecting reality".
It's just come the invasion into Hueco Mundo onward, Kubo couldn't be bothered to draw them anymore. My guess is that he forgot how, much like I think he forgot how to draw old man Zangetsu
-
Wow I know for once what people are referring to in bleach
!
what happened to them? Kubo accidentally bleaching them out of the chapters?
