Punk Hazard might be more literal as in "danger by a punk" - Vegapunk?
The island could be something like Vegapunk's test area for new weapons?
Chapter 655: Punk Hazard
-
-
He was a fishman
No, he isn't. He was once a regular starfish that somehow thought that he was a human or something like that and started speaking because of that.

Timeline:
Distant past: country called "Wano", was the land of the samurai
Many years ago: country taken over by the WG, given to Vegapunk to use for experiments (samurai probably still around, just gone into hiding or otherwise never interfere with WG research)
4 years ago: Experiment gone wrong (Jurassic Park style) - island abandoned
2 years ago: Akainu and Aokiji fight there since it's abandoned (a few dragons and some samurai aren't much trouble to these two admirals) -
you know, Ryuma was totally graverobbed by hogback. would be interesting if the samurai recognized zoro's not-so-new sword.
excellent chapter. can't wait for more tbh. one piece is totally back on track with the adventure feel. :3
-
he's a starfish, remember when the crew first met him and they asked him why he could talk even though he was a starfish?
You are right. I thought he is a mermen or something like this. Who knows.
Still Dragon has a DF
-
foams at mouth
The style of this chapter was just off the charts! This is exactly the type of stuff I was hoping to see in One Piece! How Oda throws us right into the New World… The look of Punk Hazard... The dragon... There's just so much to process with this chapter. So glad I didn't look at spoilers. As I thought, Oda keeps getting more ruthless the further we get into the Grand Line (the pirates being burned onscreen casually, actually burned, not a DF power).
I can't believe he just mentioned Wano Country right off the bat like that o_o. Also loved that we all thought Luffy would pick the most dangerous route then VWOOOOP they swerve off their course to none of the islands the needles were pointing to, lol. There's a lot more I wanna say but I'll leave it at this: insanely good chapter. And dang Redon, nice catch!
-
The Dragon reminds me of Lola!
It resembles her zombie. -
seeing Robin being all maternal feeding Luffy there, one wonders if she isnt unconsciously acting as a de facto step-mom to the son of the man she spent two years with…:ninja:
the Samurais could also be following in Ryuuma's example by hunting and killing a dragon and other assorted monstrosities. Unwittingly Luffy has to protect the dragon from the samurai perhaps *pure speculation
-
That Robin was burning up the pages, yowza  specially the last one.
And LOL to her feeding Luffy!! -
I… I just... can't..
This chapter.
This fucking chapter.
ODAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

When i read thru the chapter the first time i didnt think that Brooks knowledge of the world will be in the most part 50 years old so what he said about the wano country could now be wrong and fit in with the theory you suggested.
-
He was a fishman
no.. he is a starfish taht can talk because he think he is a human because of Japanese pun.. hitode(starfish) and hito(hUMAN)
-
@.:Nonsh:.:
Why would the fight in an island that give the advantage to Akainu. I know that Aokiji is powerful and can probably use his powers despite the heat, but I'm prett sure there are more 'neutral' islands.
Did you just not read part of the chapter?
-
Is this the arc Luffy and crew will be meeting the Dragonborn?

@ntk:

The island could be something like Vegapunk's test area for new weapons?more like the test area for his "environment control system",the one he was trying to make for his island (if aokiji and akainu are not related to the dual nature of this island)
-
Very… imaginative theories, but the dragon "talking" could just be Luffy listening him. Remember that he was able to listen the Sea Kings. On other hand, the dragons could be inteligent creatures just like the Sea Kings and they can really talk normally.
That is actually a very cool theory. I hope this pans out.
-
Yeah!!!1111 Strong chapter, just exploding with cool stuff at every turn. However, I wonder if it really is necessary to review and discuss every. single. chapter.

That dragon needs to be a new Zoan user !
-
its not a dragon, it's a DF user. They wouldnt call it a "mythic" zoan for nothing. + a dragon DF was inevitable
(im just happy monkey.D.dragon doesn't have it)
-
A perfect start to a new arc! I think that dragon is simply a legendary creature and it's able to speak human language. Can't wait to see what happens next chapter!
-
Am I reading this wrong or is it that Zoro doesn't actually know what a samurai is. Because he asks Brook, what these samurai are.
I was grinning like an idiot while reading this chapter, the only thing that I am worried about is that the dragon will end up not been antagonistic. But I am loving the theories of one of the samurai calling Zoro out for grave robbing Ryuuma's grave.
Am thinking the guy who made the call is probably part of a team of treasure hunters or archaeologist (it was never said that archaeologists only existed in Ohara) it would be a perfect explanation for what they are doing on an apparently abandoned and forbidden Island.
Anyone else thinking whatever happens here will lead to bounty increase?
-
The Dragon, if it is a Mythical Zoan user, could be a part of Big Mam's crew (or an ex-member)–maybe a Division Commander. I do think there will be a lot of mentions of Big Mam etc. etc. until the confrontation.
-
God I fucking love this chapter
"Maybe he's just an idiot!"

Are the strawhats here?

didnt you get the memo? Luffy is Dragon-born (as in his dad is Dragon), and "D." stands for Dovahkiin
Haki is also just a dragon-shout
-

And how do you know it's a DF user?
-
@kagehisa I lol'ed.
The Will of the Dovahkiin.
-
Zoro met a zombie samurai in Thriller Bark didn't he? Why would he not no what a samurai is.
Maybe Aokiji is here? It would explain the cold.

Oh, crap. Oda is an epic genius.

I would like to know who "boss" is…

Huh. This does look quite similiar. But there are no flames around the island, are there?

this was the first thing that came to mind too.

)How long ago though because Ace was able to visit Wano 'recently'
(and I put recently in comas because we dn't know how old he was then he looks like he was about 18,19?)Are the strawhats here?

Ohoo
-
What a great chapter. No complaints really. Looking forward to how this arc unfolds.

Doesn't look the same to me.

Speaking of Ryuuma, I just remembered that dragons have been mentioned in one piece, since he was known as a man that once killed a dragon. I know that story is from the one shot in wanted, but it was still mentioned in OP.
-
Epic Dragon is epic!!!
And let us discuss if this is the island where Akainu/Aokiji fought
I doubt. Smoker's subordinate said that Punk Hazard was closed by the Government since an incident that hapenned there 4 years ago, while Akainu/Aokiji fight happened during the 2 years that Luffy was training with Rayleigh.
-
THIS IS MY ISLAND!!!!
-
Last chapter disappointed me when it made clear that Luffy wouldn't meet Smoker yet, but this chapter totally makes up for it: it's good that Smoker got the info on Strawhats location so fast and can get to the chase right away. And the island is really interesting! Like some others have said I really think it most probably is the same island where Blackbeard was with Bonney. I guess we really have no way to know if the dragon is real or someone with a DF, but I hope it's not a DF.
-
The island is where toothpaste comercials are made.
-
closed/abandoned island is the perfect place to have an epic duel. i dont see the problem
Also Ace could have visited between 4 years ago incident and 2 years ago duel
-
@The:
Sir…you win the internet today.
Hazzah !
-
This island is an homage from Oda to Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken.
-
-
What more can I say that hasn't been said?
This chapter was better than awesome. It was coco bananas.
Everything that's good about One Piece is here.
The New World looks so sweet so far. . .
only little concern here: Zoro already KNOWS about Wano country and the samurais, doesn't he?. . .
http://www.mangareader.net/103-2574-18/one-piece/chapter-467.html
-
Usopp lied about having lost his various fears, this means he's still a negative liar XD
I'm already imagining Zoro VS Samurai warriors… I wonder how strong they are in comparison to Ryuma.
Then, hot part and cold part...Heh, welcome to the new world, dear forecasters, nothing like Aokiji and Akainu to me XD
