@Juvar:
Are you all complaining about Ur's ass while not giving a single comment about that COMPLETELY RANDOM BACKSTORY OF FLARE or whatever she's called??!!
I mean, "huh, yeah, I actually came from this village oh and I never interacted with other humans before entering raven tail and that's why I nearly killed a little child and was an utter evil bitch but now I come back and forgive me please lolz I didn't mean to"
Wendy: "we don't mind that, let's make up!"
lucy: "yeah we don't mind at all you nearly killed me and that child lolz you didn't know, thought it was normal, no problemz!"
i actually laughed after reading this, what utter bullshit. God. Plus, that ogre guy looked way better when he was still using that mouth cover.
I think I covered that with my "Pretty shit" comment.
But if you want me to elaborate, once again this is a showcase of what Hiro has in common with Kubo. The fact that they know how these sortsa things like "backstories" and "character motivations" and "plot twists" work, in theory, and both realy, realy want to use them, however neither wants to put the actual effort in that would be needed to make it all make sense.
For example if at least part of Flare's backstory this chapter was shown in flashback, ya know, to confirm her words and show her not trusting humans and being awkward and whanot, then it would probably carry more weight and would help in setting up her redemption at least a bit.
However when it's just rushed by in a couple of words, well, then that realy has no impact.
This reminds me of something from Rave
! where Elie is revealed to have been Resha all along, and they just offhandly mention the "sleeping chamber" she's supposed to have been in, without ever showing it, or bringing it up before or since. This was a major reveal, and Hiro did not even bother to explain the reason as to how Elie can have been Resha, which was denied by tons of people over the course of the series due to the time that's elapsed.
