Sorry Pikachu.
The poll from top to bottom starts at the top left of the picture, moves down, then starts at the top of the next column of pokemon.

Oshawott all the way!
Oh sweet, we're doing Marimo's idea?
I voted for everyone. First time I've done that for any match, lol.
Bulbasaur! easily!
I think Oshawott is EASILY my least favorite of the bunch.
Their designs are cute, but in game I never enjoyed the grass starters that were designed as lean, physical attackers with speed. They don't really learn all the useful, fun grass moves that are unique to the grass type (especially early on in the franchise). I always liked the bulky, slower special attackers like Bulbasaur, Turtwig, and even Chikorita.
Haven't played anything related to Pokemon since I was a kid, therefore the originals are my only choice. Squirtle, I choose you!
I only played Pokemón Black, and chose Oshawott, because he was cute.
And also, I prefer water type. I think grass is boring, and fire is just okay.
Piplup!! Water/Steel beeches!!
Gen 1: Charamander
Gen 2: Totodile
Gen 3: Treecko
Gen 4: Turtwig
Gen 5: Tepig (I actually prefer Oshawott's design, but I hate his final evolution)
Overall: Charamander and his line.
Charmander (always a tough decision between him & Bulbasaur) in Red/Blue
Totodile in Silver/Gold
Stopped playing after these two generations.
1. Charmander
2. Squirtle
3. Treecko
4. Chimchar
5. Totodile
6. Piplup
7. Bulbasaur
8. Torchic
9. Snivy
10. Cyndaquil
11. Mudkip
12. Turtwig
13. Tepig
14. Oshawott
15. Chikorita
But I'm voting for my favorite from each generation.
The first generation had all starters be awesome, but I never cared much for charmander so no vote for it.
For the second cyndaquil is easily the best for me. Great evolution line too.
Third generation also has great choices, but Treecko just leaps above and beyond.
Fourth generation is my least favorite, had a hard time choosing because they all seemed meh. Terrible generation overall, with only some great additions like garchomp, lucario and weavile.
Fifth generation oshawott is my definite favorite. I don't like Samurott as much though, but I freaking LOVE Dewott. Awesome design.
I'm surprised Snivy is doing so bad, always got the impression it was the most popular of this generation. Oh well.
I meant to vote Bulbasaur.
Bulbasaur and Totodile for life!
I'm shocked that Cyndaquil is at the bottom of the pile ): But surely, if you had Gold, you had Typhlosion?

I was all about the Feraligatr.
Chikorita is number one, but I like all the Johto starters.
which is why I did not play soulsilver until I had gotten all three.
Bulbasaur and Snivy are my bros. I forgot if I chose Cyndaquil or Chikorita in second gen though.
If you know anything about Pokemon games, then you should know that Red is the baddest mo fucka' around. So obviously, I'll go with Charmander.
All three original starters are pretty damn iconic, I like em all. Bulbasaurs poison typing was amazingly helpful, especially in the actual original game when poison type was an actual threat and weakness… of course, half the plants dual typed poison, so it wasn't unique at all, but... I generally go with Charmander tho, just cause firetypes are rare and eventually the flying ability is useful for sheer utility. And of course I like the turtle, but other turtles have come along since.
Gen 2 is Cyndaquil, no question, his entire evolution line looks badass.
Gen 3 I really dig Treeko and his second form... the last not so much. But the show made him badass.
Gen 4... I dunno. I'm kinda meh on all of them. I love the idea of Turtwig, since his ground typing is nice, but then he's competing against Sandslash, and well... my love of that useless critter overrides practicality nearly every time.
Gen 5... Wotter is easily my favorite. ALl three forms.
Generally though, I end up ditching the starter right around their final evolution. There's just usally something in-game with the same type that I like better for one reason or another. I dunnoif its over-exposure or the the though that everyone gets a starter so it snot unique to have one, or an unhealthy love of Bellsprout... I dunno.
It'd be nice if they mixd the starters up next gen in some way though. And for Enel's sake, no more fire/fighting types. Yeesh.
I just puzzled out Charizard's name like a week ago. I was was like OH SHIT IT'S LIZARD. I never really thought about it before, but where Charmander and Charmeleon immediately were obvious where they came up with the name, Charizard's for some reason wasn't obvious. Once I actually thought about it, well, yeah I felt silly.
What are your guys' favorite pokemon in general?
I'd have to say my top 3 are Ferrothorn, Camerupt, and Weezing. And then not far behind: Dragonite, Dusknoir, Gliscor, Flygon and Swampert, in no particular order.
I always end up hating my starter, because I don't want it in my team anymore, but I've put so much time into it that I can't stand to abandon it.
I'd love to see different types for the starters. Maybe Fighting, Dark, Psychic.
As far as overall favorites go, I can't help but go back to Umbreon, Gengar, and Scizor all the time. Love those guys. Probably no coincidence that they were all available in Silver, my first Pokemon game.
Charmander. It evolves into a dragon. A dragon that spits out fire. It also flies.
WTF! Too easy, Charmander!
I voted for my favorite in each gen, one for gen

Normal: Zangoose
Fighting: Hitmonlee
Water: Kabutops
Flying: Gliscor
Grass: Cacturne
Dark: Absol
Ghost: Gengar
Bug: Shedinja
Ice: Froslass
Electric: Magnezone
Dragon: Dragonair
Ground: Dugtrio
Rock: Probopass
Psychic: Gallade
Steel: Skarmory
Poison: Toxicroak
Chikorita is the worst starter of all time. I think we can all agree on this.
Went with Mudkip, but Charmander is good too. I also like Totodile.
People will hate me for that, but, I hate Piplup.
I always choose the water pokemon. My favorite among them is Squirtle, I like them all though. So think I'll just vote for all the water ones.

I was the same way with Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan, Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan hadn't even crossed my mind. Completely floored, but then i wanted to rename Hitmontops as Hitmonnorris.

Why don´t you name it capoeira ?
Why don´t name it capoeira ?
Well in my personal experience, no one round my parts of the world has any idea what i'm talking about when I say capoeira. Including spellcheck it would seem.

Honestly, they actually do come up with some pretty clever ones. I picture like, a bunch of dudes playing pool on one of the highest floors of some skyscraper owned by nintendo, playing pool and downing beers, tossing around word combinations for pokemon names when a new generation is about to come from japan to be translated.
charmander and totodile… starters and their evolutionary lines gen 4 and 5 (and the rest of the pokemon for the later generations) all look really ridiculous...
in pokemon red, why couldn't charizard, a dragon with wings fly?
Chikorita is the worst starter of all time. I think we can all agree on this.
If Chikorita was in another region, maybe things would have worked out… But yeah it is pretty bad.
Swinub .
Yeah… I just voted for those that looked the cutest. Sorry.
OMG . . . there are 3 generations of Pokemon starters that I know nothing about. ^^;;;
Went with Squirtle and Totodile, cuz I always had a thing for the water starters. Though I did like to use a sibling's cartridge to start a new game, play to the point where you can trade, then trade the starter pokemon to my game. Rinse and repeat, and you've got all three.

There were a lot of odd, nonsensical things with Gen 1. But that's what gave it it's charm.
Scyther, with them big ol wings, also couldn't fly.
Lickitung can't learn Lick.
The effects of leech seed and toxic stack, because both moves used the same damage algorithm.
The fact that Special was one stat, so you had pokemon like Alakazam that absolutely raped in Gen 1. That's besides the fact that the Psychic typing was virtually unstoppable.
Your backpack only had 20 fucking sots. And EVERY ITEM occupied a slot, even stuff you had to have with you to simply get around.
I can't remember exactly, but there was something weird with pokemon that were Normal/Flying (atleast I saw this and remembered it from watching a youtube Red playthrough) where they (such as Pidgey and Spearow) were treated as simply flying. Fighting moves should have been neutral to them, but they were not very effective.
You weren't able to attack the turn you woke up from sleep, so moves like Sleep Powder or Sing were absolutely ridiculous, since once you saw your opponent wake up, you could just use the move again and they'd be put back down.
The Fire, Ice, and Thunder punches were special moves and not physical. There's a lot of moves that had changes after Gen 1 that corrected things that were terrible or silly.
Actually, if you haven't ever played Gen 1, or even Gen 2 to a degree, you have NO idea how spoiled you are, especially when it comes to the backpack, hold items like Exp. Share (had to train weaker poke's by actually having them out in the battle for a turn, so it was all manual), and .. well, the early gen's sort of blur for me now, but those of you who have played it will know what I mean.
…
Sorry, got a little nostalgic there.
Bulbasaur you cretins, the greatest starter pokemon is Bulbasaur.
Also Oshawatt and Mudkipz can go directly to hell, friggin' abominations
What the hell is wrong with Mudkip?
Ignoring the fact it became the meme it is today. Tell me why, disregarding that, he goes to hell.
But I LOVE Mudkip :(((((((
Totodile stole my heart the moment I saw him, and he eventually evolves into Feraligatr…who was my favorite to use back when I still played Pokemon games. ^^; And Treecko...I dunno. I picked him in the Ruby Version. He looks funniest to me of the 3rd Gen. Pokemon. c:
Chimchar has the best final evolution.
But as a starter it has to be squirtle. Shame he doesn't have the shades.
