I'd rather have Decidueye or the Gardevoir/Gothitelle combo. Bara wrestling tiger doesn't do it for me.

I think Machamp would be a good addition.

So, we are 14 weeks away from smash, and 33 fighter videos still pending for showcase.
Using insane troll math, and assuming the rate of video posts keeps up with 3 fighters a week, we will run out of them in 11 weeks, leaving 3 weeks, or at least 9 planed posts open.
That's also assuming Sakurai keeps his "no more leaks" plan and reveals all fighters before the launch date, and consumes all the showcases before the promissed day.
-
SSBU will be playable at select Best Buys. To think, we are so close to the three month mark. We've already passed 100 days left!

Whoa….good catch.
Knowing my luck I'll have to redo the crossoffs again; I used the portrait itself following Peach's post.

I'm using just a spreadsheet. I didn't do it very well as I didn't set it up to count it automatically.
-
Mind you, I think when I was calculating the pattern BEFORE the direct, I said something like it would finish a week before the game comes out. Since Sakurai added FIVE more characters - and more to come is all but confirmed at this point - then the rate has to stay at least three characters a week, opposed to sometimes two, sometimes three.
Or hell, make it four after another direct? -
That super fakey Render Leak made me realize how badly I want some Bravely Default music in Smash.
Still holding out hope for Shantae. (And Walugi. Leave me to my misery)

Yah, I'm aware of the popularity of those that I put in the neutral zone. Except cardboard golems, those just intrigue me.
This is just a personal hype-meter, no the whole "this character has 73.55% chances of making it!"

Honestly, there is no one I really NEED… It's more...

Seems there's someone who settled for Brawlhalla:
!
-
http://www.siliconera.com/2018/09/03/brawlhalla-to-add-rayman-on-november-6-2018/
Tangential news, it is not definitive but I feel like this indicates that he won't be in the initial roster. Eh, I only put him so high for being canadian or french, and Ubisoft playing nice with Rabbid kingdom and Star Link.
-
Keep in mind that Shovel Knight is an assist trophy and he is in every single video game ever that features some amount of indie crossover, so I don't think Nintendo cares?
Not to mention that, you know, Ubisoft acquired Blue Mammoth Studios so Brawlhalla is technically their game now? Not like they have to sign an exclusivity deal with themselves.
-
I feel like Ubi wouldn't be pushing so hard for Rayman to be crossing over in something if they knew that he'd be receiving lots of fanfare from being in Ultimate. Not to mention Blue Mammoth was acquired less than half a year ago, and the nature of the characters being costumes means the turnaround for Rayman to be put in would be a lot shorter.
-
Rayman still had a trophy in Smash 4, right?
-
Ubisoft can still pull Ezio Pannetone de Ferrero Rochero.
-
Wasn't aware that Brawlhala was Ubisoft's.
I must check out the list of crossover games to make the mutual canonicity network.

Or they could just be supporting a recently acquired property?
Nah they're probably making some weird passive aggressive statement about Rayman's worthiness as a crossover character in defiance of Nintendo spurning their advances.

Yeah, sorry, sorta realized that came off a little shitty it after I posted. I've just gotten a little tired of all the bone reading to divine the will of the ancient corporations that everyone always does (myself included) in the hype season, so it tickles a salty nerve.

No worries. I actually want Rayman in, so it'd be nice to be proven wrong here.

I did my own list a few (hundred by now?) pages back but I'll give it another go.
I'm gonna keep all of these fairly reasonable.
I am excite Paper Mario
King Boo
Cranky Kong or Original Donkey Kong
Chun-li
Black Mage
Skull Kidp cool Sora from Kingdom Hearts
Ken or Akuma
Birdo -
Ubisoft rep will obviously be the dancing panda from E3.

I have consulted the oracle bones.
They say "Outlook Not Good".

Mine just say "made by Mattel toys, 2005"

The only character I firmly expect is Geno, and even he comes with plenty of caveats.
Pros:
*SE is already involved with Smash, and have previously allowed Geno's likeness as a Mii costume.
*Geno and/or Mallow would only see the light of day again in a Nintendo X SE project involving Mario, and aside from Mario Hoops 3-on-3, this is the project that fits the bill.
*Sakurai wants him and often gets what he wants eventually.Cons:
*So far, nothing new from SE in Ultimate that wasn't in S4.
*SE are notoriously picky, not to mention a lot of their music is a nightmare of rights issues, though that shouldn't be much of an issue for SMRPG's soundtrack.
*Relating to the second point, Geno isn't exactly relevant today, which isn't a problem for Nintendo who can add whoever they want, but SE may opt to pick from more recent series for their one or two fighter slots, if they even opt for anything additional at all.Any other fighter is A-OK by me, and in fact, I'm not expecting to hear a peep about Geno until the final Direct. It'd work as a nice bookend, Mario as the first fighter, a Mario character as the last one. It'd work even better if they had Cloud or some other SE character alongside Mario take part in his reveal video, since SE has had very little cinematic representation in Smash.
But basically, it all depends on how nice Ninty and SE wanna play together and if Sakurai has enough pull to make it so.
-
I like how people predict a Nintendo Direct literally every month. E3 just happened? Doesn't matter, July nintendo direct. We just had a smash-focused direct in August and two Nindies Direct as well as presence in two different large conventions? Fuck it, Nintendo Direct in September.
There's a pacing to marketing stories and build-up, and part of that pacing is not unleashing constant streams of big news every fucking month. So no, I'm not going to believe a single person who predicts a September Direct unless that person happens to tweet it as part of Nintendo's official account.
-
Are there any big Video Game events/conventions happening between now and December 7th? That's probably the best time to expect news.
If there aren't, my gut tells me we'll get something in early October. I know it's stupid to look for and care about patterns, but the big Ultimate reveal happened in early June, then we got the Smash Direct two months later in early August. If they really are trying to aim for a big reveal every two months, then we'd one last blowout in early October, then two months after that the game comes out.
With maybe a "btw here's Geno/Some-other-big-character" right before launch.
-
Isn't Tokyo Game Show happening in September?
-
Yes. Begins September 19th.
See, I want to doubt and say that we won't get a Direct this month, but that also begs the question of "If we're receiving one only in October, does that mean the next Direct is the last Direct before release?" if we're following a two month pattern.
Still, the character reveals never had a pattern originally. Who is to say.
-
Just checked and you're right. Although Nintendo doesn't usually show much there, so who knows.
EDIT: ninja'd
-
The bones said that it was a direct for the online system.
-
Chirst, that's true. We're supposed to start paying this month and we still don't really know what we're paying for. Or when it actually starts.
lmao Nintendo
-
Sometimes Directs come fairly often. You look at previous years and sometimes there is a Direct almost every month with several months having multiple Directs. Of course there are general Directs, platform specific directs and game specific directs.
It's not so much that people are theorizing there is a direct coming but when mods on sites like Resetera start doing their usual tease before something comes up it's pretty obvious they have inside info or are being prepared to play and/or report hands on impressions of the games featured in the coming direct.
Just give me at least one Smash unique character reveal and one echo!
-
If this is time for the online, then I'd say that's a feature that should be broken down and explained again, as all we know is "There is a feature called Online inside the game"
-
New track

Looks like a Nintendo Switch & 3DS-Focused Nintendo Direct is coming on Sept. 6: http://www.siliconera.com/2018/09/05/a-nintendo-switch-3ds-focused-nintendo-direct-is-coming-on-september-6/
-
It's not a smash direct tho, but at the very least I hope they touch on online functionality.
(and 20 characters more, but that's just an insane dream)
-
There will be at least one character trailer, I'm sure of that much.
