@Cymelion:
Which isn't really applicable though - this is a thread on the changes on how Oda is telling his story. You can argue he might be using his characters in different ways to narrate the story to the other characters in the story but ultimately we're arguing about how things seem a little different from previous arcs to this arc and whether or not it is a good thing.
While the characters are important to the storyline - it's the differences in pacing, setups, exposition and resolution that is the focus here not trying to gain the interpretation of what X is saying to Y but what Oda is saying to us with presentation of it all.
I think >.<
I admit to the sin of being off-topic, as the original rebuke of mine merely was, well, an inflated rebuke which added nothing worthwhile to the discussion beyond an unnecessary attempt at clarifying the term "narration" and, of course, me wanting to respond to what I considered an ignorant comment.
Which didn't really add anything worthwhile to the conversation either, I guess.
@Monkey:
I have changed this forum for the better through my actions. And I entertain first and foremost. That's more decent than anything you have to offer I'll tell you that right now.
Good for you.
@Monkey:
It chases away bad posters, entertains the good ones, and of course is just frosting. The cake underneath is as ever strong and well baked. I would have no right to inflame if it wasn't.
You're too emotional to even notice that aren't you.
Why, that's all good and well, protector of the forums. I can imagine the drama you cause is quite entertaining, and I admit to you being a smart poster partially due to fact, that you claim you have the "right to inflame" and not "flame", which I simply cannot attack because of the neutrality of the word "inflame.
@Monkey:
So now the majority of posters are tasteless. Hmm, yes, it's truly myself who is disrespectful.
I do not see where respect comes into the discussion. I've never accused you of being disrespectful, merely distasteful. Me deeming you distasteful does not equal me accusing you of being disrespectful, neither does it make me disrespectful. I do not try to force upon you a change of heart - I respect your distasteful behaviour, yet I do not approve of it.
@Monkey:
Well that's a load of bullshit lollll.
Well, yes.
@Monkey:
I made a cool post about it. Here check it out.
"Themick was "rebuting" Urogue and ultimaclima's critique of the flashback's storytelling as just what Jimbei wanted to say.
Which of course is stupid as hell, Oda has full control over what the flashback showed or didn't, the buck stops at him and not at a fictional character made by Oda."
I never claimed to be discussing that. I was discussing your (in my eyes) ignorant comment.
@Monkey:
We weren't arguing about that. You're so confused!
Right. I still do not see any compelling argument (not even your "cool post about it" is remotely convincing) to back up that statement. And no, we were not arguing about your comment being "utterly useless and ignorant - and for that matter, wrong", because that was my introductory comment. The argument picks up after that.
@Monkey:
But is completely relevant to the comments by Urogue, ultimaclima, themick, and myself.
And your comment was attempting to respond to those four comments, so it's irrelevant when you really get down to it since it's confused.
My comment was an attempt at clarifying why your comment was ignorant.
@Monkey:
I say everything is controlled by Oda, I never said whatsoever ever that every narration perspective is his and not that of some character.
I quote: @Monkey:
…....cartoons aren't real people. Everything is told by Oda.
Excuse me if I misinterpret what you write, because I could swear that actually means, that Oda is telling the story, i.e. narrating.
