Yes, the fact that the princess is based on a common, tiny fish but is, herself, enormous is a literary technique called Irony.
Chapter 612:"Led to by the shark we saved" Discussion

@Yonkou#3:
2. Cariboo's villians maybe all be too tough for him to kill. Only temporairly knocking them out and then crawling away to heal or he could do team matches all the time.
We've seen shoot a marine to death (yes, marines are people too) and bury the fake strawhats alive, pay attention!

Point taken, but after pell, any death is fair game. So he hasn't technically killed them.

If every character starts to become a Franky or robin that would be a great story wouldn't it. Wait, nevermind it wouldn't.
Also: if you are going to use the worst case in the story to back up your claim you don't look very smart.

agreed. Cariboo or Huge Princessss OR
maybe hancock?. Salome tracked themA!. I can totally see that happening. She would Own against cariboo

Your name prevents me from taking you seriously but i'll say this anyway. If you're suggesting franky or robin are not great characters then stop right there and go in the corner because you need a time out.
-
Regardless of this hubub,
This chapter is further curving the outcomes of this adventure quite well!Consensus:
Where the hell are Robin Franky and Zoro?
Tree? meh. We get it, it's magical sunlight.
Cool palace, what function will it have in the upcoming chapters?
How will this Crisis and Princess issue get dealt with?Calling it now, Chapter 613 will be about Franky, Robin and Zoro.

Yeah, let's repeat the same plot over and over again, obviously this will make the story so awesome.
Go back to grade one and have someone read you the princess stories so you can be entertained by the same plot point over and over again.

Yeah how boring.

lol your location kickassia goes well with your post.

what if, if Caribou absorbing Robin and Ruffy can't punch him with haki, because if he do, robin gets hurt.

I think a improvement to your idea would be the Mermaids he's already sucked in.

It's unlikely his ability works that way as it was already brought out it seems he has some infinite storage space ability similair to blueno's "Air dimension" because if the mermaids were just inside his body like a bag you'd see hands and stuff jetting out of cariboo's face.

I think so as well, but he might have the ability to selectively bring out what he absorbs and can hold it in a specific location.

Sounds about right. +1 for the Cariboo for nakama team.

Ace and Whitebeard would like to have a word with you.

@Fire Fist:
He's the exception, not the rule, though.
The fact is, though, a fruit that lets one shrink was already eaten by a video game character. Though that's hardly canon, Oda wouldn't let a fruit be eaten twice, even from filler. For example, Don whats-his-name eating the Heat Heat and Akainu eating the Magma Logia.
So could be one lonely fishman the execption in that case..but let`s see either way i will be okay with.
I would actually love to see the liquid-fruit on a fishman, even when it was already used in one of the movies.(i curse you honeyqueen to steal that DF ability and to waste it like no other chara could ever do with his ability which is so awesome!!!) -
Can't wait to see Zoro again… anyway the princess is a giant mermaid how weird is that... didn't expect something like that at all let see how this all plays out
-
I think the key word here is Redeemable, while a potential nakama might be introduced as the antagonist. As long as his/her actions and mindset is not beyond redemption, there is still a chance he/she might become a good guy (though still not necessarily a nakama).
Lets do this case by case:
! 1. Robin
When she was introduced, she killed Igaram. This course of action is definitely a big NO, however she offered to help the SH albeit with an unclear motives. This brings up mindsets, Oda made her to be this mysterious woman.
Even through Alabasta, she kidnapped Vivi from Pell; saved Luffy; her conversations with Cobra (which shows that shes not that evil at heart); betrayed Crocodile; until eventually Igaram was shown alive.
As you can see, she was finally "redeemed" because she hasn't actually killed anybody. And unlike Crocodile, her motives and mindset is ambiguous (only to be revealed much, much later)
! 2. Franky
Sure, he was the boss of Water 7's hoodlums; he stole their money; he beat up Ussopp. But he actually showed compassion towards his men (as shown in the scene when he found out Franky House was torn down), and as Lifrit pointed out, he did steal from pirates.
I was kinda surprised that after fighting Luffy the first time, he casually hung out at a bar with Kokoro, doesnt seem like an evil guy type to me. So again, his mindset and motivation is still unclear. And not until he hung out with Ussopp, was he redeemed.
! 3. Hodi Jones
Why him? Since the 2 above is already a nakama, I might make things up as I see fit to my theories. So I'll try to use one that is also recently introduced.
Again, a leader of Fishman Island's hoodlums. The actions Hammond took could be considered similar to Franky family when they tried to rob Zoro.
And speaking of actions, Hodi didn't kill anyone. He forced them to be his crew; and destroys their ship when they tried to escape. His mindset was made clearer then Franky or Robin. He is doing it (or thinks he is) for the sake of his people. Kinda like the Shandians. Plus he is willing to sacrifice his life in order to do so.
So up to the current chapter, Hodi Jones isn't beyond redemption. I'm not saying that he'll be next nakama. But I can surely see him as the next Wiper.
! 4. Caribou
Now. Actions : he killed a marine (but hey, in the SH's point of view, marines r the bad guys. And we've been shown lots of corrupt marines); he has a habit of burying people alive  while killing someone is bad, burying them alive is in an entirely different level.
He tried to kill the SH, and finally kidnapping mermaids to sell em. Now u've seen the Auction house, how Camie was sold, and now Caribou is planning to do the same thing to those mermaids. I'd say that is beyond redemption.
His mindset is also made quite clear: there is usually a strong reason for killing someone, but burying them alive? It only takes a sick pleasure of torturing someone (unless of course we're fighting zombies or immortals). He wanted to kill the SH to gain fame, well who doesn't? Ace did it with Whitebeard, so I don't mind with this one. But selling mermaids to Auction Houses???? We've seen that dying is actually better then living as a slave for a Tenryuubito. And he's doing it for the money, not even the slightest of self-righteous-justification motives behind it. BEYOND REDEMPTIONI wrote that in last nakama thread, might as well put it here as well

You are a little over-excited. But I understand. And I agree as well.

how come luffy always get so much action with girls latly ?

people hvae got to stop comparing the different arcs. they are all very different. if you want to start comparisons, i can think of several scenarios in pokemon, Dexter, Fight Club, and many others. i'm hating how people say "this is like alabasta, this is like water 7". its nothing like them.

To be fair, Pokemon was literally the same thing over and over until this (5th) generation (there's a REAL PLOT now O.o).
I feel like I can say that here because it's not a complaint; pokemon has been my favorite video game series since Generation 1, and while I like how they changed things a bit in the latest gen, I would have continued to be a happy consumer even had they done the same thing EXACTLY the same way again (mind you, this latest gen is still similar, but it has more differences than past gens did with each other).

That's wonderful that you feel that overall the arcs are very different, but you don't have control over what everyone else can post. This arc, like every arc so far, has aspects similar to other arcs. There's nothing wrong with saying, "Hey! I like how this arc is similar to [insert arc] in [insert reason]". And there are tons of similarities it has to a bunch of the arcs. Of course it's silly to say that FI is exactly the same as [arc], but what's wrong with comparing it to elements of arcs you enjoyed?

its not so much that its wrong, but rather massively annoying that people are actually starting to believe that this arc is in any way similar to w/e they are comparing it with.
two things i wanna ask:
1. i thought sharks had gills and no lungs. how is megalo breathing air
2. i find it very odd for a small panel to be dedicated to madam drinking water. Also, her speech looked more like she was forced to say what she said rather than it being the truth. -
That shark has a buble around it and trying to put realisim in one piece is hard.how did caimie not dry out on Shabody

Are you 100% sure that Nami's bounty has increased to 18M?
That '8' could be, in fact, just a '6' (16M, old bounty, remember) with the upper zone a bit longer. And if the bounty has increased, it could have been hidden such as Zoro's or Franky's.
And a increase of only 2M is really small IMAO. If she has done sth important, her bounty should have increased a lot more. And if it's sth not really amazing, she could have kept the same. Ok, Robin's bounty increased only a bit, but her previous bonty was really impressive. -
Robins bounty was increased particially to update her picture.

Wait. Really? Is it good? I only watched the first episode of BW, because I thought it'd be like all of the other seasons.
Also, javimgol, Nami didn't get a bounty raise.

eh, I think he's talking about the games. The anime is probably still crap .
-
SH's point of view, marines r the bad guys.
even if SH think like that, doesn't mean they want to kill a marine.. luffy don't even kill his opponent…
-
I think Usopp has another mini slingshot. Or aatleast in the coverpage he seemed to be holding his weapon.
-
Zoro's was in creased because he killed a shichibukai
I know you're being facetious, but if he had killed Mihawk, he would've achieved his goal and thus have no reason to go anywhere.

Mihawk is the greatest swordsman on the grand line. But Vista(?) was able to go tit for tat with him during the war and held him at bay. Now vista is only a Commander of the Whitebeard crew. Who knows how many Swordsman are in the NW.
Zoro won't stop until he's the greatest. He probably ( like 99% sure) didnt kill Mihawk. But I imagine he's on par with Mihawk now.
-
What? Usopp just is one of two people in the world to have the easy-flow elbow… the other being Bruce Willis.

Don't make people think it's possible he killed Mihawk. It's 100% sure he didn't

Sheesh, when did this thread become the official "next nakamate" discussion thread?
I think I just read something like 25 pages of bickering about if Caribou will or won't join and next to nothing about the actual chapter…
Take the Caribou stuff to the appropriate thread folks.
Let's stick to discussing the actual chapter here.(Back in a few with some actual chapter commentary...)

Yeah, he's "only" a commander of the most powerful pirate crew in the entire world.
That ain't any less impressive a title than the Seven Warlord, IMO. -

Rats, when I came back to write finally, all my quotations from previous posters in this thread disappeared! There's no way in heck I'm rereading that entire discussion, so this will be from memory and pretty sketchy in some places.
About Franky:
He was positively ID'd (with a bounty poster) – thanks to Bren.exe for finding that -- before blowing up Vegapunk's lab, so even if they couldn't recognize him after his head was blown off, I'm sure that someone made the connection that Franky was somehow connected to the explosion and then notified the authorities. Blowing up the lab itself should be enough to get a bounty increase (since Vega works for the WG) but if the WG think that Franky somehow acquired top secret info about the Pacifista program, then that makes him even more of a threat ... So yes, I'm guessing that Franky's hidden bounty is intentional and that Franky's new threat level will be much higher. I'm curious if news will get back to Vega about who destroyed his lab -- would be cool for Vega to mention it after meeting Franky for the first time.I'm also guessing that Franky has some knowledge of where Sunny is before he seeks out Tom's relatives. It would be strange for him not to be concerned about it after the wild way that they were all thrown from it on entering FI. And if he has no knowledge of where the ship is, then I'm guessing he's seeking out Tom's relatives thinking they might know -- and also to pay his respects. Very cool.
About Zoro:
Ok, this is now the second time post-timeskip that Oda has hidden Zoro's bounty from us, so it seems less incidental and coincidental than it did the first time. There's a theory going around that Mihawk might have told Zoro to do something ridiculously bold -- like, say, slice 'n' dicing a half dozen Marine ships -- as a final test of skill. Mihawk is just twisted enough to suggest that, and Zoro is just stupid enough to do whatever he says, so it's a plausible explanation. How the scar fits into it, not sure yet. My cynical gut-feeling is that we won't know about the origin of the scar until a flashback during the final fight between Mihawk and Zoro, some 500 chapters or so from now.No, I do not think he defeated Mihawk as his final test before leaving for SA. He may have tried, and that my have been the source of the scar, but it just doesn't make sense from a storytelling POV to have Mihawk defeated so soon.
And Sanji fans, don't fret -- looks like the LoveCook is going to be Caribou's main opponent, since Oda made a point of showing Ishley being captured (Ishley being the mermaid who was most friendly towards Sanji).
About Eve wood:
I liked the drawing someone made linking the Holy Land with the Holy Wood, even though its not quite accurate -- but it has some interesting symbolic possibilities: that FI and WG are more closely connected than we might think, etc. Several people mentioned that it would be cool if Franky used some Eve wood on Sunny, but didn't say how. Here's a thought: as a sort of headlight/spotlight, so that deep water navigation is easier, and so that Franky's nipple lights aren't the sole source of illumination... ;)Ok, that's a ton of text, sorry...didn't have time to edit it. Will do so if there's time this weekend.
