Preview didn't show a whole lot. Is it just me, or does it look like they toned down Whitebeard getting magmafisted a lot. I don't see any wound there, if that scene in the preview matches up with what I'm thinking of.

whitebeard collapsing and couching up blood right on the plaza tiles
was intact , even though the blood was colored a little darker
i read the manga chapter again before watching and really thought they would edit that part , but they didn't :happy:

Hm, there was a lot of padding and filler in this episode, but for the most part it was good padding and filler. Did not expect there to be a flashback to the Sengoku/Garp vs. Shiki fight from the OVA. That was cool. Townspeople actually giving reasons for why they think Roger was a horrible person is a plus too. They showed a lot more of Dadan than the corresponding manga scene did.

No, he got magmafisted in the chest by Akainu at the end of the episode (and it looked pretty brutal of a hit, too), yet the scene in the preview of him blowing away a bunch of marines doesn't appear to show a wound like the manga did. Now that I look at it again the dust and stuff seems to be blocking his chest from view, but I still think it'll be toned down.
On that note, Whitebeard coughs up mud. He shouldn't be eating that stuff.

Question: Whenever Ivan says "You" he's saying something like "Batashiro" or "Banatou" … what does that mean? Is it just an odd way of saying "you"?
Also, someone should tell Sengoku if he really wants Ace dead, he can just do it himself. I mean there aren't any cameras around...
I kinda thought it was odd that Chopper made such a big deal about Robin and Luffy being frozen earlier in the series and how delicate the de-thawing process is only to see Buggy pop out of it like it was nothing.

It's just one of his speech quirks.

Great episode knowing the chapter it was based upon.
Wasn't exactly a thrilling chapter but it served a purpose showing that indeed Whitebeard is old and he's not going to fight the war pretending that he is not.
The Episode 0 flashback was a welcomed sequence and I was very surprised, the Buggy filler wasn't really terrible and Ace's flashback was kind of cool.
overall this week gets a 8/10
I did enjoy it, but the best is starting to come next week. Where I believe the climax of this war finally begins.

Yea but Robin and Luffy slept and rested for a long time after that. It just seemed odd that Buggy recovered so quickly…. and Chopper is a doctor and is usually quite serious about that.
However, Robin WAS impaled by Crocodile and then fine a few hours later so... I guess consistency isn't the name of the game.

He wasn't overreacting; it's just a different scene context.
At that point in the story, it was made clear that two significant characters' lives were a tap or two away from death for dramatic effect. However, virtually every scene with Buggy in it (manga or anime) was intended for comic relief, so escaping the freezing "comically" would be suitable IMO.

Ah interesting, yea I wasn't sure if it was just some strange different word for "you" or if he just pronounced it in a different way. It took me awhile before I figured out what he was saying since I'd never heard it before. (first time I noticed it was when he was trying to get Kuma to recognize him)

! Ok, so, mistakes don't usually bug me this much, and I'm normally quick to praise. But Marco got defeated WITHOUT having seastone cuffs put on him? Toei, this is one of the most disappointing things ever for me. How is such a major detail totally missed?

Yeah, I messed up and didn't remember the timing of things. My bad.
I remember I kinda disliked the chapter because of the whole hormone focus , but actualy lots of important stuff happened , like Marco and Jozu getting owned hard .
Honestly, I was disappointed with this episode. Akainu's magma dog thing looked lame.
And Whitebeard has mud blood. Oh, and the animation and art kinda sucks this time around IMO
