As long as the spiders can behave themselves and don't multiply throughout the house, I don't mind having them around. They help get rid of any other unwanted bugs that want to crawl around.

All of you bug haters should just be glad that you don't have Cicadas. We get those lil blind guys here in MD every 17 years.
Lol? We get cicadas every summer? They stay out of our way and they create a lovely atmosphere in the evenings. They are cool bugs. Still wouldn't touch them of course.
Funny thing is, when I was a kid, I used to pick up bugs with ease. Grasshoppers, butterflies, worms (loved digging for worms and yes I know they are not 'bugs' but they are crawlies I wouldn't touch now), ladybirds, praying mantises, some kind of fuzzy caterpillars that came out in March in Cyprus⦠Now? Have anything like that touch me and I'll freak out.
-
Some bugs creep me out but I'm terrified of spiders.
β¦..oh well, at least I'm not alone!
Spider-fearers UNITE!
I know fearers is not a real word -

You guys are troopers then, because when they came out in my state back in 2004, a lot of people freaked out. I swear⦠they have to be able to see, because they always had managed to fly right towards me as if it were trying to troll me.
Cicada: "You mad bro? u mad? I'm touching you... you mad?"
-
Spiders are alright in dark corners. Out in the light? You can say I catch them in a bottle and evict them somewhere secluded outside. Either or a lizard to eat, or for them to fend for themselves. I can't kill those guys since they do good work.
Geckos are awesome though. I don't know what it is, but alot of people here are afraid to see the things inside the house. For me, I just give them a nod and they nod back. I love lizards.

Geckos are adorable!! XD I love how they slide when they come in my house. Their tail swishing around like mad while they try to get the hell away from me ahahahaha! I can't help but sit down and watch one go like a little kid! The best are House Geckos of course~ The really pink ones. We used to have one as a 'pet' when I was little :'D Gave him a name and all lol. He was a cool insect eating motherfucker.

Aw. You used to be so cool.
Until I became a teenager and turned really uncool⦠Stupid teen years, ruined everything. Turned me from a tomboy that loved to build tree-houses, into a girl. D: I wish I could go back to my kiddie wild life-style...
-
But what exactly would you want to protect a girl from nowadays? I'll be a terrible downer here and tell you that if a group of guys or one guy with a gun attacked you and your girl with the intentions of harming her⦠well... you wouldn't be able to do much to protect her since you'd either be beat up to a pulp or shot. 'Xept if you are Superman. As romantic as you might find the idea of protecting someone, fact is it's a very difficult thing to do. Not impossible, but difficult nonetheless.
Sounds like a good time to me.~
Man⦠Now that I think on it, I've been in both of those situations a fuck ton of times. Usually not with someone I had to protect, usually just me, but still. For the situations where I had to protect someone, there's two that I can remember. One time where I went to Sonic with my friends and we were eating on the outside patio and at one of the other tables was a guy that hated me (and vice versa) with his gang of friends.
I personally wanted to stand up, walk over to him, and kick his ass. But I knew that if we started fighting, both of our friends would get involved and I'm not sure that my friends would have been able to handle themselves against them. Though, he might have been thinking the same thing because we both saw each other and decided to ignore each other. I think we both understood the situation would have escalated quickly.
The other time, I was walking with my autistic cousin and these 3 guys started coming up besides us and tried to instigate us. Personally (surprise, surprise) I wanted to start punching the fuck out of each of them. But I knew that they didn't know that my cousin was autistic (and probably didn't care) so if I started fighting them, they would have punched him indiscriminately. 3 on 1 is hard enough without having to protect someone that has no comprehension of the situation and can't run away or defend themself. Luckily, ignoring them was enough that they eventually left us alone.
There was one time, however, that I protected a female friend of mine's honor. She was depressed that morning and crying over something. I was watching from a distance, kinda reluctant to go over there and say something since we were just casual friends at the time. It was at that time that I overheard 5 guys speculating what was wrong with her and then transition into basically saying "Fuck it, she's a whore". To be clear, they weren't the ones that made her cry and weren't even in ear range of her, they just started randomly talking shit about her within MY ear range.
So I walked up to them and told them to shut the fuck up. It basically escalated to where I said I'd kick all 5 of their asses if they kept talking shit about my friend and... this is actually pretty cool, they respected that. Apologies were had and hands were shook. Only one got angry and walked away but the other 4 were apologetic and felt remorseful about it. After that, my awkward ass decided to walk over to her and console her and before I could even say anything, she like... jump held me and kept crying.
I held her until her friends came and took over the situation and then walked away. Neither of us shared a word and she didn't know about how 5 guys were talking behind her back.
Spiced up an otherwise boring day.

You are a cool and sweet dude Ken-Ken boy~

Cockroaches are cute, as long as they don't touch you or your things. Their wings are rather pretty too, if you manage to get a close look. And I'm also one of those who pretty much just give lizards on the wall a brief nod of acknowledgement.

I managed to watch until 0:20 before having to close it⦠I.. I can't do it ;-;
-
I never seen Cicadas before, but if they are anything like rain flies(not sure what's the actual names for these things) I'm sure they are annoying to have around. I mean, those things come out in huge numbers during rain for the sole purpose to die in huge piles of wet soggy corpses. I'm kinda envious that a life cycle could be that simple.
Leave nest underground.
Party in the rain.
Die.
@Chrissie:I managed to watch until 0:20 before having to close it⦠I.. I can't do it ;-;
S'cool. I can't watch anything related to massive centipedes on someone's hand. Or on someone's neck for that matter.

Eh, I don't know why, but I feel uncomfortable even looking at bug images/videos. Uhn, let's change the subject:
[hide][/hide] -
When I visited the butterfly room of a Damien Hirst art exhibition last year, this one blue butterfly decided to catch a ride on my leg. I didn't notice it until I went to the gift shop and one of the cashiers informed me. I wish I could've seen my face when I looked down and saw a huge butterfly just chillin' on my jeans, slowly flapping its wings. I mean, I think butterflies are pretty and all, but I was still having a slight internal freak-out. I stood there for about five minutes waiting for a handler to come take it off and I couldn't stop staring at it. I still remember how it felt when the butterfly tried to hold on to me with its legs! And the same cashier serviced me when I bought my souveniers. She said: "You almost took a piece of art with you."
That sure was an experience. :D
-
Huh? Mind elaborating? I'm sure pulling on an insect's limbs while alive are an unpleasant experience for them.
They don't have the capacity if you will to feel and stuff. They're kind of like biological robots.
-
^ woah, de ja vu.
that's the exact term you used to describe it to me in 2011.
i expressed guilt over the insect murders that i did as a kid, and you said not to sweat it because they're biological robots. -
Question:
Should I trust Accuweather when it says that tonight winds will only go up to 18mph with 32mph gusts for 10 miles west of Portland, Maine? If the NOAA claims we're getting 45mph gusts tonight, and 55mph gusts tomorrow (the same speed as in Boston), should I not trust them? I seem to be obsessed with bad weather and fearing power outages, should I be concerned?
-
That'sβ¦. not the kind of wind or weather that generally causes power outages.
Unless you've got a bunch of dead trees around and a strong enough gust causes a branch to fall on a power line.
-
I hate FLYING insects, and cicadas, are the ones I hate the MOST.
Seriously. I HATE them, and they always try to land on you.
The best flying insect is the bot fly. Because you get a neat hole in your skin, and you can pull dat maggot it plants in you out. :D

Well, centipedes and millipedes aren't insects, I just wanted an excuse to post this. -
In that case, bugs are delicious. Nom nom nom.
Though, I did have silkworm larvae before. It tasted weird.
I'm sure most of you have eaten bugs/insects without even knowing it. Red 4 for instance.
And what about spiders crawling up your nose and into your mouth while sleeping? I'm sure it has happened before~ -
I hope not >_> On the spiders that is.
I've swallowed a few mosquitos in my time, nothing else I can recall.
-
i only ever seem to post on this forum after a bottle of wine, confessed
-
The thing that bothers me most about bugs is when I find one in my house that I have no idea what it is. Centipede? Spider? Mutant hybrid?
Just last August I discovered a species of centipedes that's in my house. And apparently they bite.
And they seem to ALWAYS come out after midnight. Can't remember if I told it on this forum or not, but anyways.
When I was younger, we found a big nasty wolf spider in our basement and put it in a jar. Turns out the creature was pregnant, and a few days later, there were a bunch of tiny little wolf spiders crawling all over the jar. I sure didn't want to risk having them crawl out and get all over in the house, so I put it on the deck outside. (The deck was connected to the back of our house, and further beyond our deck was a forest and a somewhat steep ravine, fyi) Later, I picked up the jar to see if any of the hatchlings escaped, and then I saw a few crawling out from the lid⦠So I threw the jar from the deck and into the forest ravine.
I don't live there anymore, but everytime I visit, I see at least one in the basement or so. I always fancy the thought that it's probably one of the babies all grown up, coming back to get me.~

I've been feeling very anxious all day. I have the same feeling I had in the summer when my mom kept not coming home. It's starting to turn the same except it gets worse.
Yesterday, at around midnight, I heard she came home (she was on a date), woke up and wanted to go to the toilet when I saw a man. Her boyfriend I reckon. Days after I told her not to bring men into our flat without asking me. It's a really small flat and it's not like I can go about my business the same way if said guy wasn't here. It makes me nervous and I lost my feel of safety. Which is the only thing I have at home currently (because love is absent). I don't want to loose it. But I can't do anything because reasoning with my mom proved useless.I promised myself I wouldn't cry but I feel that urge again. And I'm afraid that this whole thing, this insecurity will lead to me having some really bad decisions (like moving in with a guy before I could be ready because I can't bare with what my other does).
Meanwhile, I'm only good for my mom when I keep my mouth shut and when she can tell everyone about my successes.

The thing is
[hide]I'm pansexual, not a lesbian, which may make things harder to explain⦠I have a feeling she classes Lesbian/Gay and Bi together as 'Gay/Lesbian' in general .__. and I don't even know if she knows what pansexual is but if I explaiuned then she'd be like 'how the fuck do you know that then?' then I'd have to explain how I have a friend who doesn't specify by a gender... and judging by her reaction to seeing a transgender man/a man dressed in womans clothing with a wig (regardless of which) I doubt she'd be too amused... mrrrh... > ^ <;
the worst thing is, I know Babusa's mum is also homophobic, because when she asked how she'd react if she had a girlfriend, her mum flipped the fuck out until she reassured her it was just a question.

Eh? You must misunderstood. I'm in no danger, it's just my privacy that's being violated, although yes, I'm pretty unsure about those men, but I can't do anything.
-
I had to deal with a roommate and his girlfriend who understood nothing of privacy and grossing people out in our one room dorm.
I didn't fear for myself in the slightest obviously, but it was absolutely fucking horrible and made my skin crawl virtually every second I was there. No doubt what Nolus has to go through made even worse by it being your mom doing it. -
My mom just told me some terrible things. I started to cry and called the only person who's on my side and is most familiar with my situation. For a moment, I had to seriously convince myself not to think about suicide. I couldn't do it, but it's scary that it has come to that. Even the thoughts are bad.
Fortunately she told me some good advice and now I have one possible "safe place" if things get out of hand.I can still hardly accept that my mother doesn't love me though.
