Go into the e-shop and then go to "settings/other"(should be all the way to the left), then go to "titles you've downloaded". The ten games should be on that list. Click the redownload button on each of them.
-
A clear guide to download the free NES games today. http://ds.ign.com/articles/119/1191768p1.html
-
Anyone download their 10 free games yet? My Mario skills are a little rusty. I got a game over on level 4-2 lol.
Honestly, I'm not really satisfied with the games. The only ones I care about are the two Zeldas and Mario, and none of the GBA games are appealing to me either. It's my fault though. I won't be buying anymore video game systems at launch ever again. This was totally not worth it.
Just downloading them now.. never played most of them except Mario and Zelda and DK Jr.
-
Nope I cant "redownload" them yet. I see the list of games. Maybe its tommorrow for Canada?
Edit: just checked again and I actually can download them! My gosh LOZ is HARD. and I don't know where to go lol -
Well, never got an notification or the possibility via an online tool to check if I am an abassador or not - shame on you NoE - but I can download the games (thank god).
-
Turns out that 'Ambassador Certificate' video thingamajigger is among the games there in your downloaded titles.
Oh, and I was only half-wrong before; The games don't have save-states like the GB/GBC ones thus far, but they do have freeze states, where if you exit the game it will start you up right back where you were when you next play it. So that's pretty good. I'm told that's how the Wii VC does it too, but I wouldn't know.
Also, I only hope at this point that we get more room on the 3DS Home screen via a future system update. Thanks to these games and all the DSiWare I transferred, I'm already running low on spaces…
-
I couldn't find where to download them in the eShop, until I looked at my settings and looked at my downloads, and there were the 10 free games, ready for "redownload". My current internet is really spotty so I assume it tried downloading them at one point until the connection got cut, so it just set them at the redownload option until I actually got to it.

You don't like getting 10 games for free? And 10 more in the near future?
-
downloading mine one by one. Here's hoping Nintendo implement a folder system or more slots on the 3DS home. Gonna run out soon XD

Nope, that's how it actually works. Instead of the games showing up on the eShop listings (although at least the NES ones WILL be there eventually), they're already pre-linked to your account and show up in your downloaded titles list. I gotta say, it's a clever way to go about it.

Ahhh ok. Just got done downloading all of them, can't wait to play them later on! Especially since I never got around to beating either of the Zeldas. I've put quite a bit of time into them when they were on the GBA.
-
I saw in future releases Pac Man for the GB.. other games include Golf, and Catrap
didnt know pac man had a portable version to it years ago o.O -
yeah we already have pac-man over here in europe. It's just a watered-down version of the NES one

So guys. Nintendo 3ds Press Conference is to be held September 13th. According to that link, Nintendo is going to be hosting new products. Most likely, it will be software products and not hardware, with all the rumors that they're planning a 3ds with less focus on 3D. They'll also be streaming it too.
-
What the fuck is with Zelda II: the Adventure of Link. I'm playing it for the first time and it's fucking me up badly. I'm only on what I assume is the first dungeon (I have Sword and Magic at 3 and Health at 4) and I am having the hardest time beating it, all because of those fuckers who do the high and low attacks where you have to block. I think I'm on the final leg of it and maybe the last one of those assholes, but it's really annoying because the range of the sword and if they walk into it seems incredibly randomized and sometimes they seem like they really speed the fuck up and other times they seem really slow.
I really want to play and beat this game, but if this is the trouble I'm having with its combat this early on I dread later game.

Brace yourself. What you described is pretty much the every dungeon in a nut shell. Just wait untill you get to the third stage of thos enemies and they shoot beams out of their swords. Zelda 2 is one of the hardest games I've ever played.
-
Furthest i'v ever got on zelda II is the 6th dungeon. You get enemies later on who have twice your health. The tiniest weakpoint that you have to jump to to reachand they can take you out in 4 shots. It is ridiculous.
If Nintendo are holding this conference for solely 3DS i wonder then if it's so they can focus all their attention on the wii U at TGS cause that's only 1 week later and we don't no much about nintendo's software line-up for it
-
Just wondering. Is there a specific time during which we can download these games, or will I be able to download them six months or so from now as well?
-
Well since you have to 're-download' them it appears that the eShop 'thinks' that you bought those games.
And as far as I know you can already bought games re-download as often as you want. So, if you can download them now they should be downloadable later as well.
-

Wouldn't you know it, after downloading a few more NES games, I look at my 3DS' Home screen, and WHAM, it's suddenly twice as big with a whole truckload o' empty space just waiting to be filled. I guess it's something the system does automatically when you drop below a certain number of open spaces.
-
I do admit I wish they did folders for the 3DS. Would be so much nicer to just have a folder saying 'Nes' and then all the nes games in that rather than 10 spaces of Nes.
-
I apologize if it's already been discussed in this long-ass thread (and I'm sure it has), but does anyone have links to a clear and simple set of instructions for un-region-locking an American Wii? I really don't want to run the risk of ****ing up and breaking my Wii though…
-
Not tried it myself, but:

http://gwht.wikidot.com/ -
There's also this guide that I feel is more direct and explained.
http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs-guides-tutorials-only/60921-guide-softmod-any-wii.html
But both should cover you pretty well. No go play stuff!

Seriously…
-
Yay Nier! But boo Online (unless it's free) mainly because I just have to look at the Garbage that is Square's FFXIV.
-
Seems like it might come out for 3DS and Wii U(with better graphics) too.
Oh and even though its an mmo it seems to still be turn based Oo, nice lol well see how that goes, or I got the news wrong.
http://www.siliconera.com/2011/09/04/dragon-quest-x-still-has-turn-based-battles-sewing-is-new/
I want to be a red dood or a small greend dude.(I'm an Orc/Goblin fan in World of Wacraft XD)

That isn't much of a statement, since it's not that they're inept at making something with online, it's something that's really narrowly FFXIV's fuckup, nothing wider. A lot of FFXIV's development was centered around trying out really new ideas that completely altered things FFXI established for the sake of trying out new ideas and "going in a new direction", a gamble. As it turned out, their ideas weren't good and fundamentally flawed once they put them to execution.
Which is why it was bad. But it wasn't because the developers inherently didn't know what to do (FFXI is proof of it), they probably could've really come up with good things and the concepts they aimed for all sounded fine. But it all really went out of control when they tried releasing it unfinished. All the things surrounding FFXIV's demise are just bad outside-the-game decisions combined with the fact that what had already been developed made it so that when the train crashed, it would crash even huger than it would have normally. Because when I say it got released early I mean holy fuck it got released super unfinished as fuck.
And the biggest issue with FFXIV wasn't really what was happening in game. It was what wasn't happening. A lot of the minor issues, like EXP and combat, have already been remedied, or are undergoing it, since it's easy to fix. But the big, big issue with FFXIV? That… nothing happens in it. It wasn't that what was in the game sucked, it was that nothing was in the fucking game! Which all comes back down to a combination of a way-too-early release and their "new ideas", which may have worked if it hadn't been so prematurely ejaculated from square's anus.
What people don't realize about FFXIV was that it is potentially a really good ass game and it has the foundations for it. It just so happens that it already came out and they're basically after to both repair the crashed train and also finish building the damn thing at the same time people are supposed to be riding it. Honk fucking honk. But I look up what they're doing every now and then and they're fixing and adding things pretty large every month, so who knows, maybe it'll be a good game eventually.

I have no doubt that they'll get FFXIV on track eventually. After it was released and everyone realized how flawed and unfinished it was, they fired pretty much the entire development team and brought in the team that fixed FFXI, and then they removed the monthly fee until the time they could call it a finished product with their heads held high as a show of good faith to the players. I played FFXI a ton back 8 years ago or so (really way too much), and I'd be looking forward to FFXIV in similar fashion in the future if I still had that kind of time.
The question is whether they can save the playerbase or not, but considering the loyal FF following, I believe they can. Either way, it was nice to see SE take responsibility for their own fuck up and own up to it.

As long as DQX has a good single-player, I'm fine. I'm no fan of MMORPGs.
-
Looks good to me.
As long as it is for free I'm fine with it.And count me in for the red dudes

Hi everybody, I'm starting to get into games again (now that I have money) and I was thinking of buying a 3DS
a) is there any way to break the region lock?
b) are there any good flash cards for it yet, and if so is the 3D effect retained for roms and such?
Thanks.
-
There are flash carts for the DSi that work for the 3DS too that require the same DS Lite workaround, but so far 3DS games aren't emulated to my knowledge.
-

I've heard that they've ripped 5 games from their carts. Waiting for a emulator or flashcart for the 3ds seems like it'll be a long wait.

There's a rumour goinig about that came from 4chan claiming that 3 games to be announced at the 3DS conference will be Monster Hunter tri G, Baten Kaitos: SoaMS and from nintendo Mach Rider: unchained. As it's from 4chan i take this with a grain salt however it did get me thinking that if this is true then it gives high hopes for other old series to make a return like starTropics or Murasame Castle
-
There's been A LOT of buzz around Monster Hunter coming to the 3DS. I'm kinda thinking it's gonna happen.
-
Well it would be silly not to release it.
When a remake of Zelda helps selling the 3DS then a new MH will make it skyrocket. At least in Japan. -
Thanks for the links for Wii-unlocking.
…but I was at the store the other day and saw used Japanese Wiis for ~$100. Yeah, I probably don't respect the value of money enough, but that honestly seems way easier.
-
I don't know what to say: Link
Really Nintendo? Really? Is this actually true?
-
Oh Nintendo … what are you doing
-
That looks neither practical nor comfortable.
-
Why… just why...?
That's not even necessary and Nintendo really gave into it? Really?
If this (or some stupid redesign) become a requirement to play games I'm interested in I will be really pissed off.
-
Wasn't planning on buying it anyways. So I care not.
Although I have noticed people saying the 3DS design hurts their hands cus of the edges so.
-
before everyone flies of the fucking handle, please consider the following points and counter-points:
this may be only used ever for monster hunter.
but a second stick can be used for other games why the hell didn't the 3ds have one to begin with nintendo is stupid argh
now it has one. stop complaining.
it is rumored to be cheap, adding 10 bucks to the price of MH
but if I buy it now, that's even more money I'm wasting if a re-design comes out
it is completely optional
unless they make other games that use it
then thank god you can buy a 10 dollar add-on instead of a redesign
but I know a redesign is coming I can smell it in the air I feel it in the earth I taste it in the winds
thank you nostradamus your input is valuable
I bought the 3ds when it first came out, and I think the free games and the ability to play ssfIV and ocarina before you are worth the money others saved when they bought it just now
but what about me, johnny come lately? I didn't buy it then, and I'm not going to buy it now. I'm just going to wait for the remodel!
then I will enjoy playing the great games coming out this holiday season while you twiddle your thumbs for a year
things everyone should agree on:
1. shit looks uncomfortable as fuck
2. 3DS should've had a second stick when it launched
3. 3DS launch was shitty
4. if a re-model comes out anytime "soon" then that would be horrible to early adopters, who are already getting shafted a bit
5. let's wait until the 13th for any final decisions and confirmations. -
All it looks like, to me, is that a remodel is coming out with dual analog controls. They would need to release this attachment so that people who purchased the original 3DS wouldn't be forced to buy a new one to play new games.
If Nintendo DOES indeed announce a remodel, I'm betting it will come out in March.
-
I don't mind this, since my hands are too big for the original 3DS design. I can only play it for so long before my hands hurt, and that doesn't happen with console controllers. This extra rounded bulk should make the thing more comfortable for me to use.
I'm probably in the minority on this, but I don't really care.
And as such…
@Big_Bad_Lith:things everyone should agree on:
1. shit looks uncomfortable as fuck
3. 3DS launch was shittyI disagree.
-
3. 3DS launch was shitty
Looking at the release schedules, 3DS is going to have had one of the best Y1's I've seen. On it's own merits it's not that good, but compared with past gaming hw launches…it's great.
-
Has anyone been able to get Club Nintendo points from the 10 free 3DS games?
