Just about anyone whose ever played an RPG has played a game from this series. I'd have to pick FF7 just because it was fun. X-2 just sucked (I'm gonna get flamed for saying that)…
Final Fantasy
-
-
Seeing as how the only FF game I've ever played is IV, I have to go with that.
I love Kingdom Hearts, but I don't consider it a Final Fantasy.
-
I loved X-2, but I'm not gonna flame you for it, Solar-san.
My favorite… Gah! I can't decide between 6 and 7... XD
-
Final Fantasy 6 is the best and Kefka is a better villian than that bishonen boy Sephrioth could ever be.
And I hate Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2.
-
8 is the best. characters, story, minigame
all awesome -
IX.
-
III. I love the story and the monsters (yay for Kraken!).
-
Final Fantasy 6 has always been my favorite, and will always be my favorite. Edgar, Shadow, and Cyan are still some of my favorite RPG characters ever.
But Final Fantasy Tactics also comes extremely close….
-
I will never understand how a game called FINAL Fantasy could possibly have a sequel…
-
Tactics is my favorite. I love that game.
Out of the main series though, VIII
-
Final Fantasy VII & X take the cake for me (though I voted for VII since I like it slightly more than X), though I enjoy all of the FF games I've played. That being FFV to FFX. They each have their own quirks and flaws, but nevertheless, they're still some of the best games I've played.
Hmm, what about VII and X that make me like them more than the others. Well, Tactics is a great game. The battles are just time-consuming and I found the first couple of battles difficult to win….. But that was a while ago since I played. FFX and FFVI I haven't gotten enough time to 'get acquainted with'.
FFVII was my first RPG and one of my first Playstation games I've played (I remember I got stuck at the very first boss. XD). I love the flexibility of the materia system and it the music from the game still rings clear in my ears today.
FFVIII seemed somewhat dull to me, although I haven't beaten it yet. Maybe it's the colours, but it doesn't seem to excite me as much as some of the other FF games. What irritates me the most though is probably that a) I can't get ribbons in this game!!!!! (I hate Malboros.....) and B) You have to constantly draw for magic to refill your stock and if you use any of your magic that's junctioned to your stats, I believe the stat begins to take a plunge. -_- Other than that, Bahamut looks awesome in this one, probably my favourite 'Bahamut version' lies in this game.
FFIX..... Very good game thus far. Although I haven't played it in a while or beaten it either. I last left off near a Chocobo Forest to play some Chocobo Hot & Cold (Gah, I love that mini-game). The story is quite interesting thus far and FFVI's battle music is back! Somewhat.....
FFX, ah, the bright colours and the story really dragged me in. At first, I was disappointed with the game because the boss battles at the beginning of the game weren't even boss battles! The story was also really quick to start and seemed almost random at first for me. But once I got into it, it became one of my favourite FF games and currently is. Though I have some pet peeves with it. 1. Malboros; 2. No ribbons (which IMO is almost equal to Malboros); 3. The Chocobo Trainer in the Calm Lands (You FFX players should know why. -_-); and I guess maybe blitzball, but I don't mind it as much since the music's good. But the game isn't as fun as previous FF mini-games it seems.
(Note, I probably am using semicolons improperly at the moment..... But oh well).
The music in each game is brilliant. I love listening to the stuff. It gets stuck in my head kinda easily, and when it does, it stays for a little while. Easy stuff to loop and listen to as well.

I will never understand how a game called FINAL Fantasy could possibly have a sequel…If I recall, the reason behind this is that the first Final Fantasy was originally intended as Square's last resort or something. I think they were having a tough time or low on budget or something like that. Anyways, so they published this game thinking it would be one of their last. Surprise. Turns out it went well and Square lived on, continuing on with this fun game series.
EDIT: Er, that was a tad bit long for a response of a post pertaining to my favourite FF game….. >_> What can I say? I'm a fan of the series.
-
It is ALL ABOUT Tactics. I love that game so very, very much. It's insanely fun, and I must've played through it well over 20 times by now, and yet, it still doesn't feel old. It's probably my favorite video game of all time, to say nothing of the games just from the Final Fantasy series.
A distant second is VII, which I also love, though not as much. Behind that is VI.
-
Definetely 7 and (this isn't listed)
ADVENT CHILDREN. -
Tatics Advance & Final Fantasy IX are my favourites.
-
BTW,I forgot when Advent Children is coming out.
Can anyone tell me? -
I… love all the ones I've played (1-2, 4-X2, Tactics, Tactics Advance, KH). But, in the end, I went for VI.
It was the game that first caught my attention in the series. I believe I'd played IV before, the first localized version, but it just didn't seem... right compared to VI.
The characters. Great characters; very likeable ones.
The story. Quite a good one, though it isn't the best in the series.
The gameplay. Simple, easy to learn... But those Blitzes can be a bitch to pull off.
THE MUSIC. This entry in the series has some of my favorite tunes; in particular, Aria de Mezzo Carraterre, I believe the name was, is easily one of my favorite songs of all time. Nobuo Uematsu outdid himself, as always.
-
My fav song is One Winged Angel(its my coms startup song)

Was meant to be released in March in Japan then on the UMD format for the PSP in April, though it seems like it has been delayed again. So anytime in 2005 seems like the best bet.
-
Errrr….its not the game I'm talkin about.
Its the movie.... -
Yeh I know, Square-enix also plan on releasing it on the PSP UMD disc format, as well as DVD & a theatrical release.
-
i like FFX ,thats a nice 1 ..
-
I was very torn between VII and IX, such great games, with the best plot lines I've ever seen, and both with unforgettable casts.
However: I voted 7, since its the very first rpg I've ever played, and watching its intro creates a feel of nostalgia like no other!!!!!
Still, theres not much love for IX…Perhaps I should have voted for it...
Aaargh! REPENTENCE! -
Oh yeah, and for favourite soundtrack, I'd have to make it a 7/9 tie,
Favourite song: Blitzball arena rock (Though that was Rammstein, not Nobou)
Favourite Track: So hard… Perhaps "You're not alone!" or "Dancing mad". Nobou is god.
Favourite villain: Kuja. Yes, Kuja.Aaaand my least favourite will have to beee...IV or VIII.
Sigh, I'm just a little FFFan (as you may have guessed from my sig and ava)
-
Nuts, I forgot to include Crystal Chronicals! <_<
Also, I can't wait to see if Contract with Cerberus is good (you play as Vincent from 7)

**Kuja >> the man who looked like a woman XD.
-XI was good for it had great gameplay (despite looking like disneyish) and definitely great music. The characters were ok, (all about Steiner though).
-VI: Pretty close, I liked this game definitely for it being the last of the "classic" rpg styles from 1-5. And the characters were awesome. Music was good too
-V: I liked this through the use of "character" changes, and it was a bit more flexible than 3 and 1 but it wasnt "fantastic", just fun
-VII: Genuine storyline hands down XD (Best setting as well) along with Villians. Technology in rpg really digs me (and the use of a corrupted technology with lackeys, and hit men etc…).
-VIII: Music was good, setting was awesome as well. Though this game didnt seem to hit me as hard as VII, yet it was still fun. Characters were a bit bland though (seems that way to me)
-X: I hate this game <<, the music is ok... characters, I despise all of them for they were all bland (except Auron since he follows the classic type of characters) and this game defies the tradition of 1-6, and the newer style of 7-9 (possibly through the graphic enhancement and such) But in conclusion...the characters is the component that ruined ff X for me and the lack of "technology"ish setting like 7-8 (though I did like the scenario at the beginning before he was warped >_>), and it lacks the traditional setting like 9 (Though 12 looks like it will apply this type of setting). Blatantly, I hate the message of this game as well (ever since I heard Yuna say, "Technology is evil" I grew weary of it eventually and put this game down) I never finished this game...
-X-2: never played it, but I expect the same of X
-Tactics Advance: Have it, played it...rather fun, but I really dont like the addition of more "fantasy" like characters. (As you can tell, I seem to like "tradition and classic elements of the past rpgs) But I recomment this game, it is amusing.
-Tactics: THIS is a classic, it had great music, awesome plot (though it was not as good as FF7), great characters, and portrayed "TRADITION," the special classes and character class change really was the best part of this game though, it was rather flexible. This game won my vote. Go Wiegraf XD
-IV: A great classic, the first FF I ever played. (Not much to say about it though aside from the fantastic music), story was a little bland though.ALL MY opinions are based on taste, so I hope I wouldnt offend anyone about my sheer dislike for FF X
-
FFIX is definitely my favorite, because it's the first FF I ever managed to complete (I got bored of the others before I beat them), and because I LOVED the characters. Zidane was great, because he was happy-go-lucky, and not brooding and angsty like Cloud or Squall, but also not a completely obnoxious retard like Tidus. Quina, Steiner, Vivi, and Amarant were also awesome (especially Quina!). It also had a great, nostalgic feel… the early 1900's feel that I really like, plus it had GILGAMESH.
My other favorites are IV and Tactics. I need to pick up Tactics again..
-
I liked the materia system in 7… but I'm playing I and II Dawn of Souls as of now.
-
Besides VI and Tactics (my two favorite), I also like VII.
Mainly because of The Turks (and Vincent). Shady organizations comprised of people in black business suits has always appealed to me (CP9, The Turks, etc.) Rude was my personal favorite member.
-
6 takes the cake.
I hate how much 7 is overrated, everyone was talking about that game like it was god himself who made it but after i played i said to myself: Is that it?The supposed BEST.GAME.EVER is just that?I expected much more from it because of all the hype it got, sure it's a good game but it's just too hyped for his own good.
-
For all RPG's, my favorite is Breath of Fire III. Much better than FF7.
-
I really don't care how overrated everyone says it is, FF7 is still a pretty fun and topnotch game.
-
Yeah, I don't think 7 is the best of all time, but I still think it is a good game with some cool characters.
-
Final Fantasy… I still play each and every one of them, just because I feel it's my obligation as a self-proclaimed RPG fan, even though I regard many series as better. In any case, X is my personal favorite, followed by IX. The characters and the story were best fleshed out in those 2, and X easily had the best gameplay.
Nowadays, though, when I want to play a new RPG, I tend to prefer games with a bit more strategy behind them, like Disgaea and most recently Xenosaga 2. As far as traditional RPGs go, Wild ARMs and Lunar are my most favorite series.
-
my fav is FFVII, but the number 2 spot always gets me thinking…is it VIII, VI, or X?! I can never decide, it usually end up either VI or X though. I love XI as well.
-
My fav is FF Tactics, second is VII(I don,t played VII by myself,my brother played it
,but the music is perfect.)
-
4, 6, and 9 were the best. 10 was nice, but I was disappointed that you didn't have an open world to explore. X-2 was more fanservice than a completely new game…
-
I only played FF7 so that's the only one i could vote for…I didn't even finish it, my cuz did. Ha. I got stuck on the elevator part in the building. Stupid robot.
-
10 is abit of a stradegy in it…since at the beginning to somewhere in the mid or maybe before getting the airship u have to swap characters for easier defeat of mobs...certain boss fight really get on your nerves (seymour flux...that irritating fella)...aniwae after u go pass 2-3 characters sphere grid, its no fun no more coz tidus can do 9999 damage and it gets boring....
x-2 goes back to the old series, the class system...choose your favourite class! pure real time this time....wad irritates me is that this sequel has no mini-games...boring! but the RT system does make battle more challeging esp wif bosses...i died a few times at yojimbo...careless...
aniwae...i still rate 10 or x-2 as one of my favs over 7 although i really love 7
should kingdom hearts be really considered as a FF....it wins hands down...unique battle system+storyline.... btw if i'm not wrong KH2 comes out in july 05 if i'm not wrong...or was it summe r05...
-
All Final Fantasy games try to reach the pinnacle of perfection that is 6.
And all fail miserably.
-
Sheesh, aren't you so blunt.
-
Final Fantasy IX, it's funny, it's fun and Vivi's balck magic in that game is AWESOME!!!! But yeah… Final Fantasy VII is pretty cool as well..
-
I've completed Final Fantasy VII through X-2 (including Kingdom Hearts) It usually takes me 50 hours to beat a Final Fantasy because I do everything.
Except that it took me 90+ hours to complete X-2 because I felt I had to get 100% and max out all my DressSpheres and Stats. But it was worth it to see 'spoiler' Tidus come back. I can't wait for Final Fantasy XII and Kingdom Hearts 2. They'll help me spend another 100+ hours of my life having fun.
I also am looking forward to The Legend Of Zelda: The Gates Of The Realm(I think this is the name that has been confirmed) and Jump SuperStars!Anyways, I like Tifa, Selphie, Vivi, and Rikku.
My current favorite Final Fantasy is X-2.

that wasnt rammstein, it was Nobuo Uematsu's rock band, the Black Mages (funny name )You'd be referring to "Otherworld", correct? And it doesn't exactly sound like Nobuo, but then again, it wasn't just him who made X's soundtrack I think.
I have the soundtrack for X. He did not write all the music on it, but he did write the blitzball rock theme that plays during the opening cinema and again later at the end._
-
All hail Sephiroth-sama. He is the reason video game villians were made. Seymour was ok, but I think he is an okama. LOL.

I agree with Omae here. I think if VI had come out on PS1 rather than SNES, and if everyone had started playing FF with VI instead of VII, than most people would agree that in terms of story, characters, and music, VI was the best. It does make you wonder how awesome VI would have been if it had come out with PS1 graphics….
I also liked VI and IX's experience system, but I think X's battles were the most fun because of the "tag team" feel to it by switching characters in and out of battle.
And VIZ HATER? Haha, Sephiroth is a humorless Kefka from VI. Both were soldiers infused with magical properties that went mad and both ended up turning into "gods" that resembled angels. The only difference though is, Kefka had a personality and a sense of humor to him. Rather than pull the silent treatment like Sephiroth, Kefka would laugh manically when torturing a person.
-
I wouldn't call VI "perfect," but it is an awesome game. If I had a choice between 6 and 9, I'd rather play 9.

IX dropped the ball at the end. First you fight Kuja, and then this weird giant white guy looking like the the old Mutant Liberation Front's Zero shows up from out of nowhere to fight you as the last boss. Who the heck was that guy?!
With VI and VII, there was major character development with the villians so when you fought them at the end, there was real emotion there. VIII and IX's final bosses only show up at the very end so it's like, who are these people and why do I care if I am fighting them? When VIII came out, Edea was hyped up to no end but then by the third disc she's in your party. It's just a total waste.
I did like IX but I thought the ending was bad. Kuja's not the final villian and then he redeems himself in the end so it wasn't as satisfying to beat. I just remember rolling my eyes when he and Zidane have their final chat. This guy tried to kill you and everyone else and now you're talking like long lost brothers? Does EVERY story have to get all sappy at the end?
