SGR, you have become much better. Superbear, you're still not making the grade and may as well drop out. But seriously, much better now that you aren't jumping into things cluelessly, SGR.
Chapter 595: "Oath" Discussion

Oh, come on, its not like it was my trait in these forums, JERK DISEASE exaggerated it
I jumped in a discussion, like, 2 times, and its usual for new guys to do that :ninja: -

Um.. excuse me sir but I'm not here to impress you.
-
It's not about impressing me so much as that you've totally missed the point of those scenes with Nami by reading too much into them…
-
@Superbear:
Crocodile: "But I'm not those idiots who are content just to posses their powers. I've honed mine to perfection…!!!"
[Chapter 178 - Context]
Crocodile: Well spotted… you wouldn't have just said "ouch" if it hit you...
Luffy: WHAT THE…!!? THE DESERT'S CUT IN HALF...!!!
Crocodile: Depending on how you use and train them, Devil Fruit powers can be very strong in battle. But I'm not like those idiots who are content just to possess their powers. I've honed mine to perfection…!!! You'll wish you never stood up to oppose me...!!! "DESERT GIRASOLE"!!!
Luffy: WHAT THE!!? WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT!!? I'm…!! I'm being sucked down by the sand...!!![Chapter 200 - Follow Up]
Luffy: You were the one who said: Using your Devil Fruit powers well can make them stronger…!!!
Luffy: "GOMU GOMU PISTOL"!!! "SHOTGUN"!!!! -

Hey guys, look at me, I'm changing the context so it fits what I want it to fit
By the time Ace met Smoker, he already was one of the most powerful guys among Whitebeard's crew
Don't be a derp, Superbear 22 -
@Superbear:

Good job taking single lines of dialogue out of context to make it mean what you want. In that you get an A. In using logic you get an F.
-
@Superbear:
Um.. excuse me sir but I'm not here to impress you.
Like the only thing you said I can agree upon.
@Superbear:
Yes so he has honed his devil fruit powers to a reflex where Ace and Smoker have not.
Do you just take in what you like ? Before he said that Crocodile stated he couldn't hurt luffy just by hitting him. Thus he "honed" his powers to do piercing/slashing attacks since physical attacks won't work on him.
-
@Superbear:
Yes so he has honed his devil fruit powers to order fast food for him where Ace and Smoker have not.
Have you still not noticed that Croc isn't talking about Logia invulnerability? Or for that matter about Logia Devil Fruits at all…??
-

Not in that context, no.

But he's referring to himself though, is he not?
-
@Superbear:
But he's referring to himself though, is he not?
He's talking about Devil Fruits in general though. Unless his line about Galdino blocking Magellan only referred to Paramecias.
-
To change the topic a bit… I'm wondering what Rayleigh will do next. I believed he'd stay with Luffy, but if the newspaper states that Shakky and others have been arrested, I'd assume Rayleigh would do something about it. Actually, I'm not sure what he'd do. It's also possible that if Shakky was arrested, I'd assume she would have given time to the Flying Fish riders to escape on the Sunny. Or, the other possibility would be that Shakky and the others escaped on the Sunny, and are heading to Kuja Island. Then I'd guess that would mean the SH's would re-unite there.
I guess re-uniting at an island in the Calm Belt will establish how much they improved.
-
He's talking about Devil Fruits in general though. Unless his line about Galdino blocking Magellan only referred to Paramecias.
But in this case he refers to himself after saying how devil fruits are useful in battle etc.
-
Yeah, but he said that after he made a Girasol
Nothing to do with his invulnerability -
Yeah, but he said that after he made a Girasol
Nothing to do with his invulnerabilityInvulnerability has something to do with his powers does it not?
-
Yeah, but he was talking about his creative method of using his sand powers to create quicksand, a Logia fruit comes with 3 things free of charge and training: Creating Sand, Manipulating Sand and Becoming Sand
-
@Superbear:
Yes so he has honed his devil fruit powers to a reflex where Ace and Smoker have not.
I think Ace's logia was definitely actived on reflex! Remember when Van Auger tried to shoot him on Banaro island? No way he wouldve survived if it wasnt all on reflex..
-
@Superbear:

This is a combination of fan speculation and mistranslations. Both Enel and Crocodile comment on honing your Devil Fruit by making the most out of your power; Croc absorbs moisture, makes blades of sand, creates sink holes, and creates sandstorms while Enel reshapes gold, heats up gold, and increases the effectiveness of his Mantra. (Among other things)
At this point it's easier to just quote myself to answer.
-

Yup, Luffy hitting them had nothing to do with their lack of training nor Luffy's possession of haki, just a simple gag scene. He needed to knock them flying for the scene to work the way Oda wanted, so for the sake of humor they did.
-

But he was mentally prepared to face them; there's no way he would not expect Blackbeard and his crew-mates not to be sneaky, besides he saw them before they saw him.

He's talking about the strength of a Devil Fruit (not logia) in battle depending on how you use them. Not to mention that 100% of the Logia users to date have been intangible in battle. 100% having intangibility != "those idiots who are content just to possess their powers". You completely missed the point of the whole statement.

You're correct other than that BB is logia and yet not intangible because becoming gravity draws attacks into him. They all become their element though, which other than BB = being intangible.

A technicality that doesn't detract from my point at all, but yes.
-
Just wanted to clarify that technicality before/in case he used it. I'm with you on logia=intangible in battle by default though.

Yet after that statement he refers back to himself after such statement was made. Another instance of high level control occurs when Appo uses his powers to cut Kizaru, when cut Kizaru doesn't bleed despite being caught off guard.

You completely ignored/misunderstood what Brennen.exe said
Your answer had nothing whatsoever to do with what he saidI understand what he said but the "honed My abilities to perfection" statement seems as though he would have honed all the abilities bestowed upon by the sand sand fruit to perfection, invulnerability being on of those abilities.
-
@Superbear:
So honed abilities to perfection doesn't read automatic invulnerability?
honed
1. Sharpen with a whetstone.
2. Make sharper or more focused or efficient
invulnerability
1. Immune to attack; impregnable.
2. Impossible to damage, injure, or wound.Sorry I can't read that, what I see is improving his attack methods for more lethal damage. Some where along those lines, but not making him impossible to damage. Also I still yet to figure out what all this has to do with the Nami gag.
He was mentally prepared to face Smoker
There's no way he would not expect Smoker to attack him
He saw Smoker before Smoker saw him
If I remember right Ace was eating his back was facing smoker,so smoker saw him first, not against your overall point I get it and agree to it.
-
Ugh… a different direction but okay. I was thinking.
A pasifista takes orders, they don't have much of a mind on their own, except do what they are told, I think. And if Kuma is like a pasifista, how would he know where Shakky lives? Ofc unless the government themselves found out, but then why just send Kuma there. If Kuma is dead, then he shouldn't know of this place.
Right...?
-
There's also that scene where Don Flamingo takes off Crocodile's head, when Crocodile had his back to him and was unaware of his presence.
-
YES…
THAT'S BECAUSE...
HE'S MADE OF SAND...
BECAUSE...
HE'S A LOGIA
Nothing to do with that sentence -
To add to the above there's also the scene where Kizaru is shot from behind but the bullet simply passes through him…
One would assume Logia users as well as some Paramecia's like Luffy are 'permanently active' unless in contact with Kairouseki, while Zoan and most Paramecia abilities need to be consciously activated by the user. The variable effect of Kairouseki on DF users has been commented upon but this might be affected by the type of fruit as well. For example a Paramecia may experience 'weakness', Zoan's cannot convert, while Logia's become solid and vulnerable.
@ baby-boo :
VERY interesting observation you have made there. How indeed would Kuma know, the only explanation would be either someone tipped off the Marines (possible with all the bounty hunters) OR some vestige of Kuma's memories remain intact even if his 'self' is gone. But it does raise some interesting possibilities especially in light of the interactions between Dofla and "unknown person who might be Vegapunk". If it turns out Kuma is indeed NOT a Pacifista, then a whole hornets nest of WTF opens up...
-

You're basing your entire argument off a gag scene.
-

That was in the middle of a giant war. You'd think he'd be prepared to take hits 100% of the time. Of course he was in his element state (or whatever it's called).
The same goes for your previous asumption of Kizaru being caught off guard. He was fighting multiple supernovas. Of course he had his defense on.
-
As for the logia discussion i do think the logia power is automatic and not making a concious effort to activate them. Did'nt they say when Ace was making oars' hat he burned the hat several times before he finished it. If it was as simple as turning the logia power 'on and off' that would'nt happen.
-

That's true, point taken.

Yes, so many possibilities. But Kuma simply going there as a mindless pasifista to fight would too easy, and everything has been so complicated recently.

I ahve to say… Still a bit dissapointed in the Shiliew spelling… Shiryuu was far more bad ass
-
Good chapter this week. I really want to know who Doflamingo was talking to. The other parts with the BB pirates, Jewelry Bonney, and Akainu were good too.
It also looks like Sanji's going to have to fight for his life.
Cue fighting montage:

Indeed, luckily, anyone here will understand who you're talking about when saying Shiryuu so I'll just keep using it.

Well but it isn'r right. Oda gave this name so we should use it… People are also pissed if they are using Zolo or Zorro just because some other translation are saying it. So I think we should go with that not as awesome name
-
The name Shiliew may sound stupid now because we were familiar with the former Shiryuu one. However, the situation will most likely change in the future when Shiliew gets some more screentime and does something major. We'll get used to the name after some time and suddenly it doesn't sound that bad anymore. Just wait and time alone will make it better. After all, the difference is only one letter when pronounced correctly.
-
To be honest, I really couldn't care less, he could be named "crap", for all I cared…
...
I DON'T WANT HIM NAMED CRAP -
[Bad humour below, readers beware]
You know, it could've worked well. It'd give some laughs and lighten up the, otherwise so dark, BB crew.
Not to mention that the name would've been somewhat humorous back at ID.The two major forces of Impel Down: Magellan and his trusty companion, Crap. :ninja:
