Too bad, I already got all of the dvd sets already.

Interesting title they chose, but yeah, I'm excited for this.
-
Would be to much to ask for some I R Baboon reference with this title? Yes?
Well still looking great. Not prepared to face the end, well second one by now, of the Bros. -
You know, I never liked this trend of giving us a movie after ending a series that mostly likely ended before it was intended. It's like a consolation prize to calm the anger of the viewers.
There is just something about the "Better than Nothing" mentality that grinds my gears.
-
Well the other alternative when your series is canceled or death of the creator before loose ends can be tied up.
Is to just leave it unfinished. Either outcome isn’t going to satisfy audiences.
-
@KageKageKing The series was in its last phases anyway, they probably only had one season left.
I mean yeah it could go forever theoretically sure, but thematically and lingering plot threads wise, they were wrapping up a looooooot last season.
So sure, obviously it would be optimal to get another 8-10 episode season instead, but getting a movie that's equivalent to 3 or 4 is probably enough for them to nicely wrap it all.
-
-
Woof, been a long time coming. The wait between seasons has been agonizing, so glad were finally wrapping it up then. Looking forward to a grand send-off.
-
I'm looking forward to it, but, of course, I'm really sad that this might be the end for good. Perhaps DH/JP will have something new in store.
-
Been watching the series over to get ready for the movie. It's insane how much continuity this show has and how important events...just happen. Most without any fanfare. It really keeps you on the edge of your seat thinking anything can happen at any time that can change everything.

24 forever missed.
-
Exactly! But while some shows will do stuff like that simply for shock value, Venture Bros. explores the ramifications of those events. If 24 didn't die then we wouldn't have seen 21's character development and how the show slowly created a new Dynamic Duo with 21 and The Monarch.
By the way, the whole Ghost 24 thing really confused me since we see 24 doing stuff outside 21's POV until I realized that the real Ghost 24 was probably there the whole time but 21 couldn't see/hear him.
-
I pre ordered the movie as soon as I could! So excited! The operation prom finale is still one of my favorite pieces of media ever.
-
-
Solid ending overall. Have to wonder how it would have played out if they'd had a proper full season, but this was the equivalent of 4-5 eps in terms of running time. So even though obviously stuff had to be cut it probably would have boiled down similar, just with few more subplots and cliffhanger breaks along the way.
Why "Radiant Is the Blood of the Baboon Heart" is a great ending for "The Venture Bros."...
For some reason I can't get the spoiler tag eyeball thing to work. It'll hiide the message but it won't show it. Weird. But I make a new post and it works fine. WEIRD.

It worked on my end, I was reading as you started to edit the post.

They've talked in interviews about what had to be cut
Among those darlings killed in service of The Venture Bros: Radiant Is The Blood Of The Baboon Heart were two new big bads, more screen time for Hank, Dean, and Brock, as well as a scene with Sirena Ong, who broke Hank's heart by sleeping with his brother at the end of Season 7.
-
@Robby Yes I saw it, my point on major part remains. The main beats of the movie would still be the main beats of the season. Only with more breathing space and depth.
-
So I pre-ordered the movie off of Amazon and, as of today, it was still saying it wouldn't arrive until September. So I went out to Best Buy, which didn't have it, Target, which didn't have it, and finally Walmart, which had one single copy on the shelf that I did purchase. I don't know why the physical release is so hard to get (or why it's not just on streaming), but if you're willing to settle for digital, I suggest settling for digital.
Anyway, the movie really good. Great send off for the series.
It's still a shame the series was cancelled when it was since they were apparently fine with continuing for at least one more season. But hey, in this era of constant revivals and reboots, maybe it'll happen for the Venture Bros. some day.

Just got home with the Blu-Ray in tow. Can't wait to watch it a little later tonight.
edit: It was great! Answered some questions, didn't answer some others. It felt conclusive enough, although there was one aspect that i didn't think was dealt with quite to the level I wanted it to be.
