Game over? Yeah man, no way will this popular figure ever get work again…
I'm willing to bet we'll be seeing Conan again in some form.
Yep, he definitely will. My only concern is when he does manage to get a new talkshow on another network he's able to keep the same level of freedom on the shows he's had prior.
Realize nothing's official, that's all speculation. People just said "If Conan doesn't come back then his last show would be the 22nd."
And the TMZ report thing about NBC giving the tonight show back to Leno was denied by NBC.

Oh I realize that but I thought it needed to be posted anyway. And just because NBC denies it doesn't mean it won't happen. Obviously they'd deny it until they're ready to reveal it officially.
I really want to see this happen to NBC, instead of the Straw Hats Pirates, it will be Conan, Andy, The Mastebating Bear, Max, Trumiph, and LaBamba marching up the Towers of NBC to attack NBC exces and Leno. Watch the clip to understand what I'm talking about.

Conan: Bear, make that flag burst into flames.
M. Bear: nods
And the rest writes itself…
Anyone else get the feeling NBC had planned this all along!?
As soon as the ratings were'nt what they had hoped for they decide they need Leno back at 11:35 so they propose this bullshit timeslot change knowing full well Conan would be pissed and walk out and BAM The Tonight Show with Jay Leno is up and running once again!

Excellently done man.

I kinda had the feeling, but I wasn't for sure. But I'm planning to watch Conan next week to show support and then I'm done with NBC for good. I mean seriously love the egomanic in Leno. I hope Conan ether get a new show on Fox or another channel or when Dave retire take over the Late Show.

No, I think NBC legitimately expected Conan to do well, but for whatever reason his audience abandon him. If he'd been pulling the same ratings as when he had his old show I don't think anyone would complain, or complain if Letterman was beating him consistently.

Pot calling the kettle?

Forget that Leno has only a modicum of talent these past decades. NBC f'd up by putting him at 10:00. With no one watching, the local news affiliates get no ratings due to a weak-ass lead in. That carries over to the Tonight Show. Conan is screwed from the start by 90 minutes of dead air before him. NBC compounds this by punishing Conan and rewarding the guy that failed at 10pm. They've decided to load up the way-back machine and take us back to a year ago, only now Conan is not on Late Night and any semblance of good will toward Leno is done. NBC cares little for what the public thinks; they're in cover-their-ass mode. They should have just admitted they blew the 10:00 thing and fired Leno, and filled that spot with actual entertainment.
(And Leno himself had 3 years before he was competitive with Letterman, it was the OJ scandal that eventually got him ahead.)

I think you're thinking of a different scandal. It had to do with a British actor that got caught with a prostitute. I'm drawing a blank on the name.
It was around the OJ trial and the dancing Etos that Jay eventually pulled ahead. Letterman didn't want to do jokes about a murder trial.

Hugh Grant, who at the time was married to Elizabeth Hurley.

Yay taking the high ground and all that.
From what I heard in early reports about Leno's show tonight. Jimmy Kimmel rips Leno's ass big time.
Looking forward to it.
…that is, if I can catch it.
Watched it tonight. Yeah, he gave Leno a hard time. Some of the folks here with irrational hatred for the man will probably be masturbating furiously to clips of it on YouTube, I'm sure.
I love how Leno's getting scapegoated, here, when he has no part in this aside from being just as screwed around with as Conan is. The only difference is that Conan's saying "screw it" and leaving. If you wanna blame someone, blame Jeff Zucker. Leno's not gonna turn into the bad guy no matter how much you don't like him and talk shit about him on the internet.
Leno doesn't want to leave, and he's trying to get through Zucker's fuck-up on his feet. Conan's bailing. Zucker's an idiot. There. Simple as that. There's no "Team Conan," "Team Leno," any of that crap. It's Zucker vs. Common Sense. Anyone familiar with Zucker shouldn't be suprised, anyway. The man is a dipshit.
Kimmel ripping Leno's ass big time.
Kimmel ripping Leno's ass big time.
That was funny as hell. I actually like Kimmel.
I'm not really choosing sides here… but I agree with Conan wanting to keep tradition, but at the same time, if he loses this "Late Night War", then he needs to move on.
Create a new and better show, then rip on Leno on your show on a daily basis, but remember to make it actually funny.
LOL @ the fake Porno titles.
Andy is going insane with his spending. And the Craiglist thing is real.
Craig burned Rush big time!!
Jesus Christ… I just watch Fallon's opening just now for the first time ever. (Regret)
He's NOT funny… at all.
That's coming alot from my ass. I laugh at anything like an idiotic young child.
Seeing a monkey hugging a KKK member would make me laugh nonstop compared to his whole show. (Like right now) (I'm black btw. Black on Black comedy is okay… like crime)
I watched the opening... it sucked, I changed the channel to FOX so Fallon wouldn't get any viewer points from any of my TVs.
Fallon does sucks. Thats why I'm watching Craig Fregusion, and plus he was Mr. Wick on the Drew Carey show. And everyone loved Mr. Wick.

Holy crap! He was on Drew Carey show!
I totally forgot! Haha!
I personally find Ferguson as funny as a nap. And most of his monologues are just opinionated rants as opposed to actual jokes…
Fallon's okay. His monologue does suck, but his bits during the actual show are decent. Plus, the guy had all of Monty Python on as a guest once, so props at the very least just for that.
Wow, so Leno and O'Brien's jokes about NBC executives weren't far from the truth, then?
I don't really watch a whole lot of TV these days, but from what I have seen of Conan, he's absolutely funny. What NBC is doing is basically trying to cover their asses and point the finger at someone else for their decisions that are being lampooned.
And honestly speaking, I do hope Conan DOESN'T go with Fox, as Fox has a history of screwing over good shows for terrible programs (such as canceling King of the Hill for The Cleveland Show) as well as nearly making ridiculous decisions (such as their original intent to replace the Futurama cast). Lord knows how many shows Fox has pulled the plug on during the late '90s and during the first 9 years of the 2000s, with some of them either having large followings or being award winning shows.
Conan wouldn't be guaranteed a long lifetime at Fox. Though I do say, I did like the bit with him and Howie about how he could have gone to Fox, but would have been voiced by Seth MacFarlene.
Wow Leno "only" has 800 million, thought he would've made more during a decade as the most popular.
Also Jimmy Kimmel was kinda funny, not Leno funny but still.

I hurd 'dat. Titus says hi.
Still, Fox is courting him so damn hard I doubt they'll screw him over too much. Along with that, Fox is looking to sink their teeth in the late night talk show game, Conan's a big name, he's got a past relationship with the network from his time on the Simpsons, and much of his target audience are the type to view Fox anyway. The Family Guy crowd, basically.
No offense intended to CoCo, of course…!
Conan's gonna make the Simpsons good again!
I'll admit that Simpsons wasn't that funny for a few seasons, but since the movie I've found it to be really funny again.

Arrested Development.
Here's a great read about Jeff Zucker from a member called ffhc2008 from GameFAQs:
Jeff Zucker: Worst TV executive ever
A lot of people don't quite understand what's going on with NBC and why they've fallen off a cliff in the past several years. A lot of people don't understand the root problem of the Conan/Leno debacle. Responsibility falls at the feet of NBC Universal President & CEO Jeff Zucker.
Jeff Zucker's first big break at NBC was when he was a producer on The Today Show. He was pretty good there and led to a revitalization of the program that launched them into 1st place overall in the mid-90s where they remain to this day I believe. So because of that, the guy that used to hold the position that Zucker currently has hired him as President of NBC Entertainment which meant he was responsible for overseeing development of new shows.
Ignoring the fact that he was woefully unqualified for that job in the first place, his resume early on was a mixed bag. He oversaw the development of a ton of new reality shows at NBC, some worked and some didn't. However, it was when Zucker was promoted to this position that NBC finally started losing its long-time position as the #1 network as CBS usurped them.
Incredibly, Zucker kept getting promotions throughout most of the last decade to the point where he was in complete control of NBC in 2004. Not surprisingly, that's when NBC really started cratering. Zucker's first major show push he gave in '04 was the epic Friends spinoff failure, Joey. That was all Zucker.
Another major move that Zucker made back then was to force Leno out…in five years and to promise Conan The Tonight Show in '09. This was done out of fear of losing one or both of them to other networks. Conan was very close to jumping ship to ABC in '04, but decided to stay at NBC for less money for The Tonight Show in five years. So another one of Zucker's first moves was to cancel (in 5 years) Jay Leno, who was far and away in first place. It made no sense then and it obviously makes no sense now. Why he didn't just let Leno walk if he was planning to put Conan on at 11:35 anyway....who knows?
From '04-'07, Kevin Reilly, the then-head of programming at NBC, managed to keep things afloat. Reilly is known as one of the best TV minds out there. He was behind the development of ER and The Sopranos. When he was with FX, he launched The Shield and Rescue Me. He was the one that kept The Office on the air when it was almost canceled after its first lackluster season. He was the guy that gave NBC its one legitimate scripted hit throughout Zucker's tenure in charge in Heroes...which completely fell apart when Reilly left which I'll get to in a second. He developed 30 Rock.
So how did Zucker reward Reilly, a TV master, in '07? He fired him of course! And who did he replace him with? Someone even dumber than Zucker, Ben Silverman. Silverman was/is openly mocked throughout the industry. He was drug-addicted moron whose first order of business was to throw a "white" party at NBC complete with bikini-clad ladies in charge of white tigers. I'm not making this up.
So while Reilly was a guy that actually had some hits under his belt, Silverman was....not. Take a look back at some of the shows NBC launched in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Some of the dumbest **** you'll ever see. That was all Ben Silverman.
Meanwhile, Reilly took the same position he had at NBC at Fox and look at how great they've been doing over the past few years. It looks possible that they're not going to have to cancel a single new show this year due to poor ratings. That's damn impressive.
Anyway, so Zucker continued to let Silverman turn NBC into the CW with no objections at all. He stopped caring in '08 when he said that he could no longer see a scenario where NBC would be #1 again. My, my, what an inspiring CEO to have.
Finally, due to pressure from GE, Zucker fired his buddy Silverman in May '09, but countered that smart move with the decision to start The Jay Leno Show, which has turned out to be perhaps the biggest blunder in TV history. It's been no good for anyone involved. Oh yeah, and the recent debacle with Conan/Leno? 100% the idea of Jeff Zucker as well. Bravo sir!
One last thing. Remember how I said that Zucker is in charge of not just NBC but NBC UNIVERSAL? Universal Pictures has also cratered under Zucker. They're the one major Hollywood studio that has managed to lose a ****load of money despite the booming Hollywood business under the recession. Read up on some of their flops last year like the mega-budgeted disaster Land of the Lost. A lot of the responsibility here falls to Ronald Meyer, but Zucker is the one that's keeping him employed.
That was a great read and its pretty much all true about Zucker.
…that was an incredibly intelligent post.
But you say that it came from GameFAQs.
DOES NOT COMPUTE
The TV: Broadcast Boards is a lot more intelligent than pretty much everything else there.

Millions of thanks to you for posting this. Hope that clears things up for everyone.
And once again for the record, i'll note that i have no clue who these Kimmel and Fallon guys are.
Watch Taxi and then I'll see you in the Worthy Facepalm movies thread.
IGN says deal is finalized Conan's last show is next Friday:
So Conan gets 30 mil, and we get Leno back.
It's win-win.
How? Seriously, how?
Fuck.
See ya, NBC.
