I didn't quite understand why Zen was rejecting her at this point in the game, but what you said makes sense. They did pretty much already 100% say they'll get married, so I see the being apart thing makes sense I guess. Since there's still 2 years left until graduation anyway.
It all comes down to that time when Akune said Zenkichi is becoming his own persona and didn't need someone to follow behind.

It's slowly coming to an end it seems. Having all of Medaka's past opponents show up is a nice homage to the story and reminds me of the fun I had reading this manga. Even the rushed battles don't bother me really; even though I wouldn't have minded to see what the adults are capable of. To be frank, part of me is grateful that the story is heading towards a satisfying ending while another part wishes for Nisio to play his notorious troll role once again. That latter part was mostly caused by Zenkichi's actions last week (I still refuse to believe that that was all he has to offer… Zenkichi's the person closest to Medaka and their departure should move us all to tears; that's why I'm thinking that the story won't end yet).
The off screen battle were mostly jobbers or guys we had already seen fight.I don't see what would be the point to seeing guys like Gagamaru, Shibuki, Oudo and Naze fight again.
We never saw the Plus 6 fight but they were clearly created to be the cool looking guys that are just there to hype someone else which was Kumagawa.
I just recalled Shiranui's Real Eater didn't work on Kumagawa that time. Maybe now we're really gonna see the true effects of that minus.

Since Kumagawa likes to headbutt the fourth wall so much my guess is that the last fight between Kumagawa and Medaka would be decided by a popularity contest in the magazine.
Kumagawa would win without a doubt, he'll stop being a minus and the series would end :P
A popularity contest battle would be fun, but impossible due to jump's turnaround, at least if the arc keeps going at this pace (and the ending rumours for it and kiruko are true)

The band girls didn't come (that's ok), the Diciplinary comite got it's share of filler exactly 7 over my count, plus the rabit girl, and a repeat of Naze.
