SWOT in 8? Hell yeah.

@Tokoro:
TOC for the week:
#35 (08/02) :
Sket Dance (Lead Color)
Toriko (Cover)
Naruto
Nurarihyon no Mago
One Piece
Inumaru Dashi
Medaka Box
Shunkan⊗Heroism (One shot color)
Bleach (Color)
SWOT
Hokenshitsu
Beelzebub (Cover, Color)
Oumagadoki Zoo
Reborn
Kuroko
Gintama
Kochikame
Psyren
Shonen Shikku
Metallica
Jaguar Some have said this could be fake but honestly it probably isn't. The fact that Medaka is so high isn't too surprising (it does a lot of Psyren-ing) and Inumaru and Shinigami have support as well. Not to mention with so many of the "second tier" (and Bleach) out of it due to all the covers/colors, someone has to pick up the slack. When you post the TOC could you please mark the set mangas to stop confusions like the one below.

SWOT in 8? Hell yeah.

As in such:
1. Naruto
2. Mago
3. OP
4. Inumaru
5. Medaka
6. Hokusenshitsu
7. Reborn
8. Kuroko
9. Gintama
10. Kochi
11. Psyren
12. Shikku
13. Metalluca -
How the hell is this even possible>.>
-
Don't worry, TLK, Gintama won't be cancelled.
-
I'm not worried about Gintama. That series is always all over the place, sometimes in the bottom five, sometimes in the top five. I wanna know how One Piece got beat by Naruto and a series I never heard of before>.>
-
Well, I figured.
Not always One Piece is first in the ToC. I think, somebody has already posted a link to the old ToC archives, so there all these fluctuations can be clearly seen.
As sad as it is, Naruto is ridiculously popular so it being first is no pleasant surprise. Concerning Nurarihyon no Mago - it is a japanese to its cultural core series, it has traditional art, very stylish and dynamic, its anime has just begun - and most of all, right now it's in the prime of its first big arc - so top places are expected.
Oh, and some dumbfucks can't appreciate a good Sabo flashback.

Wait…I don't wanna sound like an idiot but Sabo flashback?
Can someone explain these ranking poll results once and for all? I've been spending weeks trying to figure them out.

The position in issue 35 is the one from 8 chapters ago.
-
Which also means that anything with a chapter number less than 9 isn't in any ranked position, but just tossed in somewhere around the middle.

Whuh? I always thought that these rankings reflected the current chapters. Well now I just feel silly.

The first ranked position is chapter 8.
-
For the most part we have to ignore the color pages and the series that haven't hit "8 weeks" yet. Besides, when I put up the TOC, I usually just pull what they have on MH or make it myself if it's still in Japanese. I'm used to that sort of thing for the long period of time I've been following TOCs in various medium. (since at least about 2003/2004 since I remember covers from at least about the start of Death Note & Gintama)
-
One Piece behind Naruto AND Mago is the weirdest Jump event in a very long time.
Although the flashback wasn't that brilliant, specially chapter 586, the one i believe is ranked here..other than Dragon it was pretty dull. -
@Tokoro:
and thus why they don't care anymore about keeping it on the air by any means necessary.
I'm confused. I thought Pierrot wants Bleach to remain animated because it's steady income for them? Presuming the ratings aren't utter bollocks.
Certainly, if the anime ended that would help ease Bleach out of the door, and it doesn't LOOK like that's happening anytime soon…

Not enough Luffy was likely the cause, IMV.

Honestly I said that because it feels like Pierrot still thinks there is something left to keep Bleach around, even with terrible ratings. (yeah, ratings mean nothing now considering Gintama became huge AFTER being kicked out of Golden Time but it caught on through other means enough to get 4 years) No matter how close they get to the most recent chapter (and they get close with how much they eat even with stretching), Pierrot just finds a way to freeze everything to do a long filler arc, then return to the continuity. It's hard to even describe if Bleach as an anime even fits any models anymore considering that most other anime who get that close and have low ratings just end.
-
Ah noooo, Psyren on place 11 =/. I really like the serie…
One Piece third.. well they probs wanting the crew back. Mark my words... One Piece will be first next time ;<.

your reaction is funny. How is Naruto being above it for week so mindblowing. I thought Op and Naruto are widly popular.(OP being more so)
-
Can someone answer me, this trivial question?
why is Nurarihyon no Mago's anime entitled differently? cause i'm finding it as Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan. Unless that's the title translated

My guess: because idiot Americans won't understand it if it were called "The Grandson of Nurarihyon". (which is exactly what it TL to)
-
I don't like either one of those translated names. They should of just called it Nurarihyon no Mago.

Otters!? For reals!?
That's gonna be the shit! :)

Which is made even better by the fact that
! with the way things are going, it'll become one of the last traces of evidence that they ever existed.
But yes, I am interested as well.

so true.
! maybe they'll stop trying to hook everyone up with aoki because it doesn't make the character interesting, just depressing.

So a To-love-ru spin-off got announced. I was wondering why the original got canceled if it was so popular and then I found this:
http://aoindonesia.net/showthread.php?t=6621
You should read the whole thing but here's the end point:
-
Haruna Sairenji was based on Kashiwagi Shiho, and there is a reason why her role was reduced dramatically since volume 13, and Yui getting more prominent. And apparently Shiho has sued/demanded more money for the character of Haruna recently.
-
A comment of Yabuki's while this was all happening:
[While I was working hard on a manga that was focused on taking young girls' panties off, another man was taking my wife's panties off.] -
I forgot to mention that following the dispute over Haruna's character right, Yabuki feared his daughter getting hurt by all the debacle, so he accepted Shiho's demand yet again and ended the series prematurely.
-
-
What a bitch.
I knew about this already.
But what a bitch.
RESPECT EDIT: For being the writer of a shameless, crappy fanservice manga, I like how he was the more considerate parent when it came to his daughter. Hat's off to you, you poor bastard.

His wife was a ho; since everything's been settled, the manga can finally get back on track. But god, what a ho…
-
The series was tanking and he had a lot of problems. Though honestly…the first year of To-Love wasn't that bad in a "UY-ripoff" manner until it just decayed into fanservice-o-rama.
-
The best description of Toloveru I've heard is still "It's like Urusei Yatsura, except it sucks".

And I stopped reading it at around issue 21 when I noticed it was going nowhere so….
I wonder if Himajin will come back now because of this?
-

Honestly, the first year was salvageable. They were at least then attempting a bit more drama and maybe ideas that could have gone somewhere. But once the second year started, it was in the crapper.

Issue 36/37 Bottom 5:
Hokenshitsu
Kuroko
Psyren
Metallica
Shonen ShikkuIssue 38:
Lead CP: Bleach
CP: Golden Future Cup, Nurarihyon, Kochikame (movie adaptation ?)
Special Chapter: Gag Manga Biyori -
Well. I'm rather worried we're going to keep seeing the pattern of "enter new series -> new series bottom -> new series leave -> enter new series" for a long time.
Another Kochikame movie? yay~

It's unfortunate but it's unhelpable. Aside from the whole problem with Psyren, most of the series are rather strong or nowhere near ending, and only the newer ones really don't have the means to make it.

Lol my prediction about Bleach getting another colour page actualy came true ? Lol . One guess what predominent colours that will have .

At this point, Bleach's CP seem less about anything important and more "just because it's Kubo and we don't want to experiment with a color page by another author.
-
Despite Bleach not being that good i really like Kubo color spreads, more than the One Piece ones suprisingly, i also really like the Reborn and Bakuman ones.

Manga Order in the jump. From 1st to last, in order of popularity.

Gintama rankings have probably gotten to the Takasugi and Kamui chapters.

Yay for Sket Dance(Sketto?) being almost in the top 5.

Bleached ones? :ninja:
Is the drop in Gintama rankings affected by the temp end of the anime? I mean the anime version was a key factor to its success right?

Gintama's anime's end had nothing to do with the lower ranks. The anime situation was simple: there literally was nothing more that could be done. Sunrise tried their best but they couldn't make any more stories and, unlike Pierrot, rather just end a series instead of keeping it alive with filler after filler.
As for actual ranks…impressive week considering Bleach is out of the top 5 and four unexpecteds (Bakuman, Toriko, Gintama, Sket) make it up. Oh...and the Otter one-shot is this week too, that should be...weird.

Unexpected? You make it sound like you were under Aizen's spell. JK
Toriko and Bakuman has been really exciting with their really recent chapters. Toriko had the fight scenes with Tommy and the arm recovery after that while Bakuman had their usual well thought out input in their manga. I'm not that surprise its on the top 5. Im not sure about Sket and Gintama though, haven't really read the recent manga chapters for Gintama and haven't read Sket at all.

Well with as many tards as Bleach has and the fact that some of those haven't really been in the top five as of late, thus it's unexpected…well to me.

Is it just me or does Kawashita's style make most of these girls look so…generic? (thank goodness for Sorachi's girls being so unique considering how easily I found Kagura and Sa-chan...but yeah, Nami and Sakura look...weird and...is that Orihime?)

Nah, it's not you. Kawashita's style tends to make characters look a bit generic due to how she draws they eyes mainly and the face sometimes.
-
I can recognize about seven of 'em. I guess that's okay seeing as how I don't read many JUMP series.
-
I can recognize 11 girls from the series i read and 1 from a serie i don't read(Gintama).
I don't know where the girl from SWOT is.
EDIT: I also remember the girl from Kochi Kame
