Well, aside from the panty-fighter level of clothing damage, there really wasn't anything wrong with this chapter. Fat guy's power is actually rather neat, and rolling two fights into one is a good way to keep things moving. Hm…
Meanwhile, the anime's filler seems to have moved even deeper into WTF territory.

At first I thought Kain's powers were boring, but the fact that he can change the doll material made it a bit more interesting. I wish Natsu didn't show up though. I think it would have been better as a one on one fight between Lucy and Kain.
There is plot armor in almost all shonen battle manga, but it is just so painfully obvious in Fairy Tail. Mashima should give us an in depth explanation on the limits of Ultear's time magic. That way, when Natsu and Lucy win, we might be able to suspend our disbelief a little and not automatically think "plot armor".

There's a great lighthearted vibe around here, because no matter how serious we might get, we're all together because of some magical pirate.

I agree. Personally, it would be good for FT to lose and then reflect on their loss and have a few chapters of mentally and pyshically preparing themselves or something. At first I was thinking a rematch right away, but I think it would be better to have a few smaller arcs and then have a rematch closer to the end of the story when they legitimately get stronger instead of laughable powerups that make no sense.
I still think this arc is better than the past two, though.

Well, to his Mashima's credit he's keeping the creditability on this guild's strength intact. The first guy loses to a power-up'd Natsu, another loses due to summing trickery, and now these two just seems like the lame exceptions of the guild. Mostly Fatty, I only lump in Ultear with him because Natsu beat her before even if she was "holding back." I wish I could say this wasn't the only strong part of the arc, but yeah, the shonen staple of credible enemies is in full swing.

Azuma and Rustyrose won their fights while Zancrow and Caprico lost their fights.

I really doubt the strongest member of the Kin is going to lose before we even see Meldy fight but then again plot armor is strong with Natsu and Lucy. Especially Lucy since shes never lost a fight.

This chapter was WAAAAAY better than the last chapter. Kain Hikaru FTW, was dissapointed to see Natsu but him kicking Kain in the face did make me laugh.
That Rocky-style bit of those two fixing their hair just jumps out as humorous to me. Especially since, looking at how things are lining up, there's a chance of things ending very, very poorly.
Fairy Tail's still not at the level of HSDK in regards to clothes being ripped off in a fight but it's getting there. Probably at this level it's the closest Fairy Tail will ever come to HSDK's nudity seeing as how Fairy Tail is more…innocent?
Anyway it was a good chapter. Had a few good laughs and Kain's power is interesting. Have to call Lucy out for being careless enough to let Kain take the doll back. She should have pounded him into the ground more and more instead of just "playing around" with it. That was probably her best/only chance of defeating the guy before Natsu showed up.

This new chapter was pretty awesome for not a lot happening. I thought I was gonna hate this guy, but I love how stupid he is and the faces Lucy was making when he gave her the doll. Then he showed he was more powerful without magic, and that he could be the Juggernaut. And I loved the face he made when Natsu kicked him. I'm glad he didn't end up being the weakest of the Kin as I thought he would be, I was actually surprised with his character. So a pretty good chapter this week I'd say.
Also, Scorpio's probably my favorite sprit behind Cancer, just sayin.

Some of his abilities were obviously because of the doll, but when Lucy said "He's stronger without magic?!" as he was doing his charge, I think that was all natural. In terms of power he's up there with the other 7 kin, personality wise... Yeah, I think he's just plain stupid. Those first few pages with him and Lucy defiantly weren't acts XD lol

This arc has pretty much ran out of steam for me. I can see it starting to suck real hard now. Not that the Capricorn fight wasn't bullshit.
