For the last time, the woman in the last panel is IVANKOV. In the Japanese Ivankov uses a bunch of nonsense speech. He is the ONLY one that talks like this. It's even more extreme than Marco's "Yoi" or Mr.3's "Gane". It is a special way of talking that permeates every bit of Ivankov's speech patterns. NO other character in "One Piece" speaks the way he does.

Ivankov's special way of talking doesn't translate well either. So for most English translations they give him a German accent. Maybe it's because he looks like Dr. Frank-N-Furter from "Rocky Horror Picture Show", but he wasn't German. He was an alien…

I haven't seen a raw of 586 yet so I don't know exactly what Ivankov says there but I wanted to comment on his/her accent. I thot it was gibberish as well, like Mr. 3's "dagane", and I told that to a Japanese One Piece fan who also happened to be an English teacher, and he replied that he always thot Iva's "naninani-naburu" was like how you can add "able" to the end of words in English. For example, in the last scene we see him/her/it in chapter 582, in Japanese he/she says 「後の事は任せッティブル…」, which, to me, sounds like "I'll leaveable the rest to you…" I've only ever seen it translated like this once in one of the anime episodes.

As for the chapter, I have no qualms speaking of Oda-sensei in terms of genius. The way he was able to create pathos and motivation for Bluejam so effortlessly may be something any writer with talent may be able to do but that simple, lingering moment on the cups hanging on the wall, that was astounding and understated. It took just one frame to bring up a strong emotional response.

I can see - well, all of us can - where you are going from. A person can't be in love with this series unless he does like at least a part of the main cast. After all, they were givensuch an effort to create, that you can't not be left unaffected.
However, this flashback turned out everything I wanted to see about Luffy's younger days - and thesudden addiction of Dragon just made me forget all the worries once more. At least, for the next month or so.

iam just able to eat them till C..after that it was just a pain in the..mouth and later in the ass^^
but normally you have to taste at least one of the higher ones on the list.

I've been missing everyone for some time now. (sigh) As cute as chibi Luffy and Ace are, and as fun as it is learning about Luffy's past, I miss the crew being together.

(cue Memories music) ---Zoro calling Sanji an idiot. Nami hitting Luffy. Luffy just being awsome at the least expected moment. Sanji being all full of enui when we know he craves adventure almost as much as Luffy and Zoro. Robin being dark in every statement. Usopp humming the Sogeking song when he shoots. Chopper just being cute. Franky saying "Suu-pa!" all the time. Brooke is an interesting character, but I hardly got to know him before he was wisked away, so I don't miss him, per se, yet, just the chance to get to know him more, I guess.

Don't recall if anyone imported the theory Aohige mentioned in the spoiler thread (he heard it on another forum <ahem>) but it would be interesting if the brat adopted kid brother was the one who got roasted in the fire, the parents lament his passing, Ace and Luffy hear it and assume they are talking about Sabo because they don't know about said brother, which is how they come to think he's dead--then (this is the common theory expounded here) Sabo runs off to join the Revolutionaries with Dragon, and (this is my part added in) doesn't contact his bro's to try and protect them from his father and the other nobles (as he did when he sacrified himsef for them). After he gets deeply involved in the revolution, he continues not to contact them to protect the revolution and them at the same time.

It could happen (shrug) LOL</ahem>
