It's definitely not every arc, Punk Hazard is another notable exception (although Kinemon and the children sort of fill the imperiled resident role), as was Impel Down, but it's still a bit too frequent.
And Amazon Lilly was, in my opinion, hands down the worst arc in the series. As awesome as having a pretty lady powerful jerk was, the fact that she was defeated by love instead of the thorough ass-kicking she deserved brings us back to that super negative thing I said would be a waste of time to discuss.

Amazon Lily exists basically to introduce Haki and that Luffy has conqueror's Haki. After that, it just leads right into Impel Down with him learning about Ace's predicament and then sneaking in there with Hancock's help. There's also the slave thing which was relevant at the time since we just came from Saboady, and comes into play later as well in Fishman Island.
It's not the best arc in the world, but it's far from pointless.
I wish Oda would go into Sanji's honor(?) of feeding anyone starving at sea. It was an interesting part of his character that was only used in his introduction, I mean there are more sides to Sanji's character than just his perversion XD
I'm thinking the same, i love Sanji but since quit a long time he's just the hero-guy in the straw hats.
The Monet fight, probably for me, because there was something interesting set up (namely, confirmation that Nami's weather powers can hurt Logias) discarded for more Zoro being Zoro…
^ Zoro VS Monet was one of the highlights of Punk Hazard for me. At least, one of the more memorable moments.
(The other three being the dragon near the beginning, Smoker VS Law, and Luffy sternly decking Ceasar in the face after his long villainous speech)

Logically, she should've been able block almost anything the Monster Trio could throw at her, but it doesn't even figure into the fight.

It'd be nice if it were a bit grander, don't you think? Like she pulls up 10 walls, then Zoro slashes through them because they're vulnerable to cutting attacks? Instead of him just offhandly smashing one wall and then leaving the audience without even a line from Monet saying "my walls won't work here" or something like that.

Meh. I'm not gonna defend that, I think that was done for effect so when she falls in love with Luffy it's hilarious. Luffy probably wouldn't care either ha.
But, again she is traumatized that hasn't gone away from how she acted later on. People can turn into horrible monsters with enough abuse, just ask most serial killers.(whom I'm also not defending, I believe in the golden rule:ninja: )
I hoped for a fighting scenario similar to the one against the CP9, because Doflamingo has a huge crew of unique characters most of them with Devilfruits, so a one on one battle Strawhats, Law, Kyros, Bartolomeo and Cabbage vs Don Family would have been the perfect choice for me, Enies Lobby is still my favorite regarding the fights.
Second thing I almost prayed for Nami vs. Monet because of their previous encounter, but Oda hasn't shown a sign of bringing Monet back and moreover Nami isn't even part of the Arc any longer, like Sanji and Co, this is what disappoints me the most.
I'm gonna have to jump on the Sanji fanboy train and say I myself would have loved to see him really fight Vergo until the end. That, if anything would be a good way for him to really show what he's made off.

but before time skip it was all about Epic story Epic findings and above all FIGHTING that made the crew go 5 liters of blood above their limit each opponent
from the days it was Luffy and zoro to the Arnolg park then to Crocodile arc Water 7 etc

they fighting with limitation like under the sea and no air again the time then the Rival is big in size like in Punk hazard doctor that luffy used this shit 2 against 3rd gear to beat then to a pulp
Later its Dressora that has it couple of good battle scene like doffy and lufy fight but to give example Ussop fight was meh troll I even prefer the Plot jutsu from naruto more reliable
Oda reached a point that he can't give enemy to each crew member because aside from the Monster Trio all the rest SUCK compared to the new world and don't tell me otherwise sanji on his worst day can beat the shit out of every one on the SH deck aside of course Zoro and his mighty Captain
Now what really finished it for me today was Zoro fight with Pica
it seems that Pica is like 2 to 5 lvls beneath Zoro in pure strength hell even more Zoro didn't even sweat it
he only sweat because he needed to use some Quick moves to save the king and the others
but 1V1 Pica really can't do a thing to him
So what I want to see for godsake at this Arc but if not then the next is that There will be Epic Fights
Type of Enis lobby and Arlong park fights where Sanji basically died there with all this Water pressure on his body just to come on top and win the fight
And luffy going all out getting bitten in the neck and shit and winning
One piece is a great manga but people that will look at the New world part only will consider it to be Awesome but not THE VERY BEST that i grew to love

The final portrayal of Diamante, Pica and Trebol being absolutes chumps. Man, I love those 3 (specially Diamante) and it's hurts me that Oda turn them into whimps.

They weren't chumps, They were all 3 really strong tbh, no chance pre skip sh's had any chance against any of them.

Clearly not. First of all pica could manipulate the entirety of dressrosa, he basically reshaped a country….LOL. Secondly Without Haki It would've been impossible to beat pica, not only to cut trough miles of stone, An even bigger feat then Mihawk's (Tought his tsunami slash was a no name slash) He then had to find his body, inside miles of stone, and beat his haki.
The portrayal we have gotten of them could've been weak, but the Donquixote pirates except the 3 elite officers were all pretty damn strong, especially dellinger Gladius.

Exactly what I said. All the DP except the seats we're very impressive and entertaining, but the three seats really failed in the attempt of show themselves. I mean, come on, for a gang which is supposed to control de underground and a complete country of the New World they fall pretty quick -almost one shot everyone-. Yes, Daz Bones maybe was one shot, but if Zoro didn't learn how to cut steel -haki- he'll be done. Even Mr. 2, with gimmick and all, give a lot more than either of the High Executives.

- Trebol showed a really good potential with Meteora, but in an actual fight was out smarted and out classed very easy, even the self destruct thing was really… meh.
- Diamante was one-shot with a man in field disvantage, only one leg and very tired. Kyros is itself a formidable opponent, but he shouldn't win excepto just for the plot revenge thing.

Everyone gets hyped though, heck I remember reading threads in ennies lobby when people were thinking luffy was gonna have a hell of a time vs blueno and saw know way that he could defeat luffy with how they were represented, of course their were know power ups in this arc for kyros, zoro and well trebol just self destructed lol
It makes me wonder how strong kyros was with only one leg. Sounds like he'd be almost in zoro's tier, maybe even equal.

Yep, Bellamy was my favorite part of Dressrosa and is top 5 for me so it was disappointing.

Except none of them were oneshot, and they all had extensive battles in-series. Just the re-match (after fighting in the palace) went on for something like an hour.

Pica was the special operations expert, kept Zoro occupied for a long time (while equally matching him) while continuing to remodel an entire island, and nearly killed Usopp, king Riku, and a dozen other people, and only failed because Zoro had the assistance of two other fighters. Hell, Zoro even asked at one point if Pica was even trying to fight him, because he kept going off to do other things.

No more easily outsmarted than Doflamingo was. And he outsmarted Law (holding him in place even after the 'radio knife', so that Doflamingo's 'fullblight' could impale him), and was able to use his fruit to effectively restrain Luffy and avoid taking damage from haki-imbued attacks. And he only was taken out by someone who appeared to be out of commission, and who knew his powers and how to push his buttons due to having known him for years.
Diamante was one-shot
No he wasn't. He was injured by Kyros at least 3 times, two of which we saw occur (the third, we only saw the wound). And he was cut down with an attack which not only stopped his half-moon glaive (which gouges out huge gashes of land, akin to Sai's version of kiryuu kirikugi), but then broke his sword as well. And then as he fell, was hit square in the back of the head with a post.

A one-legged man who is established as a complete monster of legendary proportions in terms of strength, and who was thoroughly enraged specifically at Diamante. Also, you know, Zoro won many of his fights while exhausted and badly injured, as did Luffy.
Diamante getting beat by that generic sword attack, was painful to watch.
