Today and tommorow, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pacman… their logo... is playable Pacman.
Crazy.
Its only the one stage graphic, if you beat it, it advances the fruit and speed.
They need to just leave it like that forever. Pacman on whim. in the Google logo. Awesome sauce.
Saturday marks 30 years since the release of the iconic Pac-Man game. To honor the anniversary, Google has made its logo playable for the first time ever. It's a fully-functional Pac-Man game, complete with graphics and sound effects nearly identical to the original.
Google has long been known for whimsical changes to the logo on its lead page, for everything from Mother's Day and the Fourth of July to the birthday of Salvador Dali and the anniversary of the children's book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." A few have had minor interactive elements, such as one last Halloween that users could click to see more candy, and one for Isaac Newton's birthday where apples fell
But you can literally spend the whole day on Google's homepage now, and you don't have to keep dropping quarters or tokens into any slot either. The version of Pac-Man on the Google homepage has 255 levels, and is available as a one-player version with Pac-Man alone, or a two-player version that features both Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man.
The game will start when a user hits the "insert coin" button next to the regular search button, or it will start automatically after a few seconds.
The game looks and sounds like the original, but was actually built from scratch, CNET reported.
And unlike the other special Google logos that are available forever in the archives, the Pac-Man game will be up for just 48 hours after the day is over, CNET reported.
