I doubt a timeskip will come. All timeskip speculation comes from Oda saying this (War and movie) is the last adventure of Luffy as a 17-year old. Then a lot of rumor about a timeskip, including an April Fools joke by Greg, who claimed Oda confirmed the timeskip in an interview, began to circulate.

If there's a timeskip, it will probably not happen in the middle of an arc. So I don't see it happening after the flashback. This is not DB, in which the characters would train for one year for the next tournament or because some big enemy was coming. The characters in OP have no reason to sit on their asses for one year or more; instead their priorities should be finding each other. That's why I don't think there will be a timeskip any time soon.

IMO, Luffy will turn 18 in-story, and the next comemoration of the crew together will be their first year as pirates.

To me, One Piece never had a poop stage. I liked it since the beginning. The first chapter I read as #1 and never stopped since then. Things were calmer and simpler back then, but it was still awesome. Oda used those adventures as a warm-up, with the series hitting full throttle by the Arlong Arc.

That 2 week jump could of been the "timeskip." i don't think we've ever had a time jump that's more then 2-3 days..

Didn't the time skip already happen ? Time skip can be a few days ya know. Time skip does not mean at least two months or some… simply means There will be "x/xx/xxx/xxxx days later.... 4 X are from 10 year time ship.. x for less than 10... also about his age. It may include something in his time :D Such as his birthday mentioned... and Luffy snaps out of the past and says "Oh yea it's my birthday" or something as stupid.

Also I very much like your points you gave to Jimbie and Boa Hancock and want to point to the picture that was shown earlier with Luffy, Mr.3, Mr.2, Mr.1, Crocodile, Jimbie and such... they were all possible new crew mates.... I think all possible crew mates but one was shown there and that was Boa Hancock. That could count as something, such as Oda showing us friends who won't become Crew Mates.

Also best thing about AGOG is just ignore him completely... I've destroyed his points couple of times... but he acts like it was his victories and even best debater of 2009 beat the crap out of him in same topic after me and yet he keeps on going like he was 100% right.

Gin was a messy bit of characterization.

That's Oda and his pacing. He could've done more. Gin's thankful to Sanji one minute and then he's torn between that and Kreig showing up witht he whole conflict of the plot. I think he walked that fine line as the conflicted character pretty well.

the part when he pointed a gun at Zeff made me bored. Altogether the baratie wasn't very interesting. It sucks compared to everything after skypeia

Ofcourse things picked up after that arc but Baratie and Alabasta is what kept me reading. Not like it's the worse or one of them. I liked it for the multiple plot lines Oda had started during it.

I think it was reasonable for who Gin was willing to die for given the situation. The Don Kreig thing was just an old attachment I figured that situation made him realize he had to give up especially after they all got pwned.

Sanji was crazy but that's what I liked about that arc, the characters.

I really haven't noticed this first time I saw it, but having a colorspread showing all the Strawhats when they were introduced into the story when another character is introduced is something that I find really odd. Unless, Oda just said one day: "I got to make a colorspread for this chapter what should it be. I know I'll just make a colorspread with all the characters when they were introduced. The fans aren't gonna over think this one, right. Right!" But, I think this is foreshadowing of Hancock joining. It would feel weird for him to waste a colorspeard like this for someone who isn't going to join. It just wouldn't make any sense.

I think AGOG just someone who wants Perona to join because his own personal hate for Hancock. He knows the potential for Hancock is there, but he's in such a strong denial by his hate of Hancock that he use Perona as his ammo to cover it up.

We talked about this sometime ago and I too think it's rather interesting that Hancock was introduced with that colorspread, although it may simply just be a concidence, though my inner fan is going "Ohhhhh Foreshadowing!"

I only got into the fandom relatively recently, but how have past 'who's the next crew member' discussions usually gone? Like before Brook or Franky joined? Granted those were more obvious but I'm wondering what sort of crazy and ultimately wrong predictions have been common in the past.

I don't know about Brook, but during the Water 7/Enies Lobby arcs, people thought that Paulie (reasonable, but less likely as Franky got more and more focus) and Kaku (prior to his reveal as one of CP9, but possibly some people still supported him afterwards). I don't think any of the guesses have been as strange as some of the more recent ones have been, though. I don't know what it was like in Alabasta; I suppose many people figured that Vivi, if anyone, would join, seeing as Robin came completely out of left field, and some people thought that Wiper would join in Skypiea.

I remember W7 and TB very well…

Brook's nay-sayers went more or less like:

Brook won't join because there's already a swordsman in the crew;
Brook won't join because he doesn't need the SH's to reach Laboon, since he would need to go back on the Grand Line instead of forward;
Brook won't join because he's boring/lame/unfunny/has limited potential;

The Perona supporters already existed back then, just like there are Margaret supporters right now.

In Water 7, a lot of people were supporting Paulie or Kaku, thought as time went Franky stole the spotlight. Still, there were people negating Franky and defending Paulie (or Kaku) until the very end. I myself began as a Paulie supporter, but after the flashback and during the Sea Train mini-arc I switched to Franky because of his character development.

I remember Kaku fans pointing out how he lost to Zoro (being friendly to Zoro) as support for their theories, for instance, though at that point there were very few supporters of his.

I think Margaret will show up again, but not with a lot of spotlight. IMO, she's like Conis, Keimy or Nojiko… She will appear, maybe help Luffy in some way, but her role in the plot will be limited.
