Hey everyone!
I know that people here at AP Forums have a lot of different hobbies, and one of those for me in Yu-Gi-Oh the trading card game. This thread is designed so people who enjoy the game have a place to talk about it on this forum. To help keep things moving along, here's a few key things to ask/talk about.
- The Rules
If you have any question about a ruling, or how a card works, I'm good with friends with an official judge, and I'm quite knowledgeable myself. If you don't know about some of the more basic rules, but are interested,
I managed to convince my Humanities [Romanticism/Human Enlightenment] professor to allow me to do my final presentation on Yu-Gi-Oh. So I made a "Google Docs" [Basically a PowerPoint] On the rules. Feel free to refer to it. My presentation was basically to disprove the common misconception that Yu-Gi-Oh is an immature, child's game.
- What's your favorite card?
I would be glad to know what yours is, and why!? Also, if you want, you could post a picture of your favorite card for those who aren't familiar with too many intimately. [Please use a spoiler tag]
For Example:
My favorite card is Rescue Cat, which is what my avatar is based off of.
!
The reason I like Rescue Cat is because it's one of the best cards in my main deck [Gladiator Beast]. It's also incredibly cute.
Also, if you're looking for an easy way to get quality pictures, or a great source just to look go to
- Your Team/Channel!
Many people that play the game have their own teams for fun/trading convenience/tournament purposes. Also, many people have their own Youtube channels to showcase duels/trade binders, etc.
For Example:
I have my own Yu-Gi-Oh Team, called Pwnmanship. We play both in tournaments, and for fun, and it's been a great experience. We have 5 members, including myself and even Zkaiser. Similair to my crew, my Yu-Gi-Oh team has it's own site.
- Your Own Creations!?
Using the site Yu-Gi-Oh Card Maker, you can create any type of deck you want, with your effects and art-work! Where I live, my friends as well as people of my community use this site to make our own decks, and have a "committee" to judge if they're fair and reasonable effects, then we duel both for fun and our own little tournaments. It's a fun experience, although many people take advantage of the freedom to chose their own effects, and that usually takes away from the fun. However, if you want some advice on your own cards, or just to show them off, we would love to see!
- Deck Construction!
Feel free to talk about your decks, and ask for tips, and give helpful tips to others! To help make things more uniform and convenient, I would like to set up a few guidelines for posting a deck that will make things a lot easier for everyone!
Steps for posting a decklist.
1. Visit and sign-up to http://yugioh.tcgplayer.com/
-This is because everyone will be able to see your deck in an easy to work with, and organized fashion. It also allows viewing of sample hands, which is effective in giving advice! I've worked with this site a lot and I think it's the most efficient way to discuss deck construction!
2. Upload your deck!
-Please be careful of spelling, and putting in the correct quantity of cards, or the forum will not accept your deck because it won't add to 40, or wont recognize some of your cards are real(because of the spelling).
3. Share the link!
-Just post a link to your deck here on the forums either as reference/advice for someone else, seeking a few fixes, or just to share!
For Example:
This is my Gladiator Beast decklist! This is the deck I'm currently using at tournaments, and it's proven quite effective. What do you guys think?
I would really appreciate that you guys follow that format, and I'll try to look at EVERY link posted, and respond.
- Updates and New Releases!
Feel free to post any updates/new releases on the game! I'll try to post a few things now and then, especially if I see that there are at least a few people who keep up with this thread that are interested. The site I use to view the new releases is Shreik, and I would suggest if new releases interest you, that you perhaps bookmark it and check it every so often.
- Trading!
IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE! I would really love to set up a trusting and active Yu-Gi-Oh community here on APForums, but I know from experience that where there is offered online trading, there will be people trying to take advantage of others trust, and attempt to scam! So, if there are certain cards you're looking for, or if you think you want to work out a trade with someone here in the forum, that's great! However, PLEASE, just PM them with a way to get in contact with you off the forum, and deal with it elsewhere, this forum and thread is not designed for specific trades, and realize that many, many people who get involved with online trading are looking to scam you, and have no intention of sending you cards.
To conclude, feel free to talk about anything Yu-Gi-Oh related, I personally dislike the shows and don't watch them, but that's just me.
Discuss!
