Killer Bee would own Failstache
Chapter 563 "One Man, One Heart" Discussion

Killer Bee would own Failstache
With his pencil.
This chapter I thought: "Funny how Whitebeard is the fatherfigure and Gold Roger is the guy who kills an entire crew."
But that's pirate life for you.And Akainu has proven further to be a bastard.
-
How many times do I have to say it guys.
Roger WIPED out squardo's crew. It could be wiped-out-beat-up, like the Strawhats crew did to several evil pirate crews.

Binktopias Scanlation it says 'Annihilated', but you are probably right.
-
Squardo was alone, that mean his old crew were all dead? And he hate Roger so much. That would make me think that Roger killed them.
-
Squardo was so mad because his crew got a bloody nose from Roger? I think he did a bit more than that.
-
-
Didn't Zoro kill about 100 pirates hunter in whiskey island?

My dad was killed by Zoro on that day. -

Luffy would be pissed if his crew was beat up. Plus Marco said something about Squardo's crew being "over there" in 562.

Not sure if anyone else notices this, but theres a drawing error in the last chapter.

I guess it is his new crew … The way that i understand it his crew was killed, why else would he have SO much hate for Roger.
-
Squardo was so mad because his crew got a bloody nose from Roger? I think he did a bit more than that.
Agreed. It should be obvious that Squad joined Newgate because he was alone (which most certainly wouldn't be the case if his companions were just beat up).
@The:
Didn't Zoro kill about 100 pirates hunter in whiskey island?
Nope he didn't. The scanslations from back then suck major ass and don't state what was truly said. There's never a mention of the term killing when Smoker and Tashigi spoke of how Zoro took care of 100 bounty hunters at Whiskey Peak.
Luffy would be pissed if his crew was beat up.
We actually had such a scenario. Remember how pissed he was at Franky because what he did to Usopp? And this was more then just beating him up because the humiliation longnose experienced there was the trigger to the fight with Luffy that made him leave the crew. Yet Franky is now a full fledged member of the Strawhat Pirates. There should be no doubt that what Squad's crew experienced was something that couldn't be repaired/healed again.
Plus Marco said something about Squardo's crew being "over there" in 562.
He simply could have found new companions to follow him after he joined Whitebeard. His life has to continue somehow doesn't it?
-

**Smoker: The numbers suit them…
...do you know what his friend the swordsman did?Tashigi: Roronoa Zoro...?
Smoker: He killed 100 bounty hunters in Whiskey Peak.
And he took out Daz Boness in Alubarna.**Stephen's scripts. He doesn't mess around with bad translations.
So… yes, he did kill them.

Two words: Pirate's Summit! So yeah, he pretty much isn't perfect which would be the reason why he was revising his older scripts before he stopped working on OP.
I have no problems accepting that the term killing is really said in this scene but I think I remember that a couple years ago it was adressed here in the forum (by people that understand Japanese if I might add) that there is no mention of killing. If I'm mistaken however I stand corrected.
-
Personaly i always just assume that Zoro kills whoever happens to be gutted by his blades.
-
So the PK isn't such a good guy…
That's... disappointing...

Yeah why didnt he let that rival pirate crew kill him, what a dick move:ninja:
-
Luffy and Ace are blood related but they're not real brothers. I don't really know the relationship tree to well. :/
Luffy and Ace are not blood related brothers. Ace's father is Gol D. Roger (who died before Ace was born) and his mother is Portgas D. Rouge (who died shortly after Ace's birth). That right there proves that Luffy and Ace do not share any parent.
Luffy would be pissed if his crew was beat up. Plus Marco said something about Squardo's crew being "over there" in 562.
This is a bad argument since Roger has been dead for 22 years, giving Squardo plenty of time to get a new crew.
-
sigh
I am, sadly, forced to side with those who believe Zoro killed them (despite Luffy talking to one) and I must admit it is because of that scene with Smoker and Tashigi.
Look, stephen is amazing but fuck translations for a second look at the gasp Japanese.
'100ningiri'
Literally translated with no bells and whistles: 'cutting of 100 people'.
In Japanese the '100ningiri sensou' or Lit 'Cutting of 100 People War', is known in English as a little thing called The Rape of Nanking.
Again, one might make the argument that he 'cut them down' which could just mean 'defeat' as the DIRECT term 'kill' is NOT used, however, you're blatantly avoiding the nuance of the term and that a 'hitokiri' is in actuality an 'assassination'.
-

He could've just beat them up.
-
He doesnt know his own strength, he thought he was just giving them a few love taps.
-
People die in One Piece, but they pretty much always die like Disney characters.
As for Squad, he's pretty much a moron, but he still has feelings. Roger fought his crew, but it is Squad who thinks his crew is dead. They could have just been knocked out, but they left instead of coming back to Squad, so he thinks they're dead.
Then again, minor unimportant characters seem to die very easily, while characters blessed with the will of Oda are nigh invincible. Author bias, but Oda's got his priorities: 1. Drama 2. Funny 3. Epic 4. Sexy 5. Logical

Like the wicked witch in Snow White or Sleeping beauty?
At least deaths in Disney are more… confirmed.
-
Roger, Squardo, Luffy, Newgate…these guys are pirates, not saints. They know that they can die at any time in battle. Squardo and Roger fought and Squardo's crew got killed. I wouldn't be surprised if when Roger and Newgate fought, some of their crew members got killed; they know the risk of being a pirate. Being on the losing end, yes it would be natural for Squardo to hate Roger just as if Luffy killed a future opponent's crew, the survivor(s) would probably hate Luffy. Luffy does hold his friends' lives high, but if he did kill an enemy pirate, I don't think he would find anything wrong with it.
-
Haha, I guess I'm the only one here that strongly dislikes Whitebeard. I was smiling like an idiot when it looked like he had betrayed his allies, only to be sickengly disappointed when the truth was revealed. Darn that Oda, he got my hopes up.
I can't stand Whitebeard. I'd be glad if that old bastard's going down after this arc.

We should have a 30 days ban for Wb hating or Naruto loving
-
We should have a 30 days ban for Wb …
We should give a permanent ban for Jimbei loving, or loving "proud" DUMBASSES ! . Croc,Dofla,BB,Kidd RULE !!!! The rest can go to hell !!!!
-
Who loves Jinbei?
I just say he could join like Boa and others not that I like him.
And yeah Croc rules and I would take him over Jinbei and annoying Boa any time
BTW
WTF are you talking to me? -
Supporting that Jimbei will join all the time, means you like him…..and of course the Proud Dumbasses category involves WB.
-

No I don't like him but I'm pissed by some Boa fanboys who say Boa can join but Jinbei has no chance if both has shown the same "hints" till now. And if you look closesly shitty, than I want someone entire different to join.
So keep talking boy if you aren't old enough to understand such things

So you were supporting Jimbei joining for several months now cause you were annoyed by Hancock"s fanboys….
-
yep that's right and I say more than one time I want someone else to join. Perona, Marguarite or hell even someone else.
-
So… Whitebeard knew that his crew would be safe, Squad heard this from Akainu (corrupted) and decided to kill WB to save his new crew because the thinks WB doesn't care about anyone but Ace (whom Squad now hates because Roger killed his friends back in the day). But then WB tells Squad that he loved all his kids equally (beautiful moment, I almost shed man tears), and that the marines were manipulating everyone, so now they both plan to kick marine ass. Do I have all this right?
-
Well that was hard to understand
Simple:
Squado was tricked by Akainu with the lie that WB have an arrangement with the WB, which is wrong
WB has forgiven him and told that he loves all his sons and go on rampage -
We should have a 30 days ban for Wb hating or Naruto loving
Are you serious? You want to ban me because I don't share your opinions? How narrow-minded are you? :pouty: Not cool.
-
Well it was a gag… But tell me what do you have against WB? I think 99,9 % of the people here don't understand you
-

I don't mind. Why like WB? I didn't have anything against him until it was revealed that he's been aiming to make Ace the pirate king this whole time without even telling him. Surprise-party at Raftel? "Here Ace, you take it." :getlost: I've just got the feeling that there is some kind of monkey business going on in that wrinkled old head of his.
But oh well… As I said, I didn't expect anyone to agree with me.

Here's a topic we haven't discussed in a while. I remember back then wondering if Zoro really did kill those 100 bounty hunters, and then I remember reading stephen's scripts and just accepting that he did do it.
I don't remember my exact thoughts back then, but now I'm definitely convinced that Oda just had different values at that time. Back then, I felt as though random characters were disposed of and forgotten like we'd expect. If a random background character got injured, that character would be left for "dead" or more accurately, Oda would at least leave us with the suspense of wondering what happened to said character. However, let's take Sabaody Archipelago and the instance of the many characters who were presented or even announced as goners, who were either helped by Zoro or just shown in the next couple pages as fine.
I've had to come to terms with the idea that Oda has just changed his values and the way he chooses to depict death in his story. At least, this is how I make sense of some of the changes I've noticed in the story over the years.
With that in mind, while I am truly saddened by the injury WB just received, and the comments by Marco foreshadowing that WB isn't what he used to be. I still can't shake this feeling in the back of my head that WB won't die on-screen and during this war. I actually still expect he'll still die, but not before he's saved Ace and has left the scene of the war. I also expect that we may get to see a last dialog between Ace and WB after this war is over. But maybe I'm just guessing too much from Oda's behaviour with his characters over the last six or so years.

So, I just happened to see this post. Do you really think WB was planning to surprise Ace after they reached Raftel? I hope you're just being facetious. Either way, it's obvious that WB was training Ace to take over for him. We have confirmation now (stupid data books and random old people) that WB has been deteriorating as of lately, and WB obviously new this and wanted a replacement.
Random thought here… Roger and Newgate were rivals. Rayleigh fits the age we'd expect from someone who was in his prime 20 years ago, and so does Newgate. Why do Marco and Jozu look so young???? Maybe this came up a while ago, but it just dawned on me.

Hey now, that poor guy who lost his fiancee didn't deserve to die:/

What's wrong with that? It's like literally the best send off possible for Whitebeard. Except that we see him die and with his crew/family confirming his passing away, they all break down in tears giving us an epic funeral of the kind that outdoes Merry's.

Nothing's wrong with this. I just expect that Oda will make it seem like WB will die during this battle, and then pull the cloth from the table so to speak.

Thanks for the explenation Greg. I understand that there's still the possibilty that it means killing but still my point is that it doesn't necessarily has to mean killing.
yeah  so did that guy really die?
Didn't Zoro leave with that guy in search of a doctor/hospital? I don't see why he shouldn't have found one in which case the guy should be safe.

Why are you so serious about that comment as if Whitebeard is a real person?
My point is that it's close to flaming.
Remember those times where if you said Twilight was crap, girls would stab you, throw acid in your face and whatever.

That's not flaming, that's called an opinion.
People lets not get all sensitive if someone says something in an agressive manner. For we too have said somethings in unpolite manners concerning other things as well.
