so in a way i want to do my own story and my own adventure and One Piece has helped me alot in life even when i never expected it to happen, also Oda has inspired me deeply that he is a pure artist in love with his work.
and that to me is an artist a passion of your own work, and Oda is one of those artists i look up to.

One Piece inspired me to draw in my own unique style and not the repetitive Moe-style or Bishie-style. (Although I still somewhat draw like that.)

A couple of sports movies are so good that after the movie you want to go out straight away and play ball. For real good movies that feeling could last for months, in my case, basketball, after an entire summer I'd still do that one move from the movie.
Does One Piece do anything similar for you? Like, gomu gomu no scything a friend for instance? Nah but actually one guy (brawler) said One Piece inspires him to train, train what exactly? For me its training as well, sometimes, I mean the whole 'need to get stronger' thing motivates a lot.
Yeah and as I said, making fried rice for the time Sanji's cooking was actually still getting airtime.
Well it inspires me to chase dreams, never give up, and shit like that.
It motivates me and just knowing it exists and is still ongoing makes my day a whole lot better. Plus sometimes the characters give me an idea of what to do when I'm having a hard time with something in real life.
Sometimes I think "what would X do in a situation like this?". Then I remember and sometimes it's against my principles, but I just think to myself "hey, if he can do it, so can I". Now that I think of it, I'm probably better off anime with serial killers and such.

I will admit I learned alot in regards to storytelling and character design after seeing OP. I always try to learn from what I watch and read, and OP had a lot to teach. I learned about thinking outside the box regarding character designs and abilities, carefully planning and structuring your situations in order to essentially organize a clusterfuck, etc.
It also taught me what not to do; especially how important it is to kill your god damn characters when the story calls for it. Because if you avoid that too long and too blatantly, your work suffers for it.

One Piece has taught me to respect people in different way, as well as to appreciate the things that I have. I must say that reading this wonderful manga has changed my life for the better.
I didn't know it was possible not to be, but whatever. I'll admit that it was more inspiring to me before the crew separation, but you have to keep in mind how long of a story this is, and that that whole section was pretty much a "Hero's internal conflict" part. One Piece is probably going to be the goofy One Piece it was for a looong time, until the darker themes of it start to really surface.
Just the fact that something of this quality is out there and I get to read it weekly is enough to keep me going.

I love reading posts from the past like this. The magic date of the first real death in One Piece is February, 2010 and this was posted in 2009. Yeah man, Oda needs to kill some damn characters. Back-to-back, too, in a legendary war.
oh yeah, when I first saw Whitebeard smile, his goofy smile where you only can see a little bit of his teeth, for a whole weekI was happy just thinking about it. You can see it in One Piece opening 12(Kaze O Sagashite). That was insipiring to the max.

Same here. I was kinda flip flopping on what I really wanted to do - I kinda played with the idea of becoming a paleontologist because I wanted to see the world in all its forms, just how alien and different a world could be back then from our own today.
One Piece helped me decide what I really wanted to be; a writer. I'm working on writing a manga too (although I do plan to write actual novels eventually, got a couple ideas for those) and I really want to make the world it takes place in as detailed and big as One Piece's.

From a story perspective, Oda is a genius and it inspires anyone to be creative.
From the characters in the story and such, it's definitively inspired me to be more adventurous, and have a Luffy aspect on life.
Of course, every character has their own trait(s) that you can learn from. Ranging from something as simple as knowing when to run (Shanks) knowing when to fight (Luffy). Not to mention, cooking from Sanji, training from Zoro, etc.

Not just fake friends, but real friends that will fight for me.

Totally. My best friend passed away last year right around when the chapter came out that Luffy lost Ace in. And, well, I had never felt such a connection with a fictional character before. Luffy was really the only person I could relate to.
Damn, do I love this series.
One piece has unveiled the secret of life to me, that we are all one. Think about this following character progression:
Luffy – infinitely plastic, we are all one piece
Zoro – piercing, slashing strength, cuts reality to pieces
Nami – Navigation among the pieces
Ussop – Focus on the different pieces
Sanji – Love for certain types of pieces
Chopper – Love for all pieces
Robin – Love for the mystery created by all the pieces
Franky – Robotic mastery of pieces
Brook – further, life mastery of the pieces
I truely have discovered one "peace" in real life due to this series. It realates to eastern thought that we are all one.
This kid in Italian class once punched me in the face for NO REASON. My foot was ready to swing into his smug face. Then I remembered when Shanks said senseless fighting doesn't make you a man. In that sense, One Piece has saved me a trip to the Main Office on quite a few occasions. Thanks, Oda.
The pacing in the latest chapters of One Piece have been a great reminder of how it's always important to not sacrifice detail just to get to the action quicker. I think that's pretty much it, though.
