General 'Haki' Discussion

hacki debate

I think theres different types
i believe that due to Zoro skill in focusing his skills into his sword attacks thats why his haki is demonish sword techniques.
I think shanks sent a wide burst of haki on purpose but he too i wouldn't be surprised if he and whitebeard can concentrate their auras into their weaponsbut sanjis diable jambe wasn't that formed first went he span on his foot super fast to cause friction and heat. Well thats how it was in the anime

Yeah that's the point. I want Oda to explain Diable Jambe. If it is just friction than anyone could do it who is fast enough. Maybe it's just the activation. But Sanji for me seems to have some type of aura. TB against Absalom seems pretty clear… I hope it wasn't just for comedy
-
Personally No, I wouldn't want that to happen. I mean using haki to generate stronger attacks. That would be the generic shounen style. But I guess we'll see cooler moves if it does happen.
-
I think ir's way too early to start tagging things as being haki. We still don't what it is yet.
-
^You're right. Actually, we don't even know if Haki is the overall umbrella which encompasses all non-DF powers or not. Maybe Haki is just another specific power which is still under a larger power-type.
-
That's just what I was thinking, but you were able to say it better than me. Haki may be just one specific move or a whole style or even a sub-style of technique. Too much isn't known at this time to discuss it
-
16 BITS OF IN B4 LOCK. Flees

"Ha-Ki", which is what Shanks is famous for, is an attribute all strong individuals have. Basically, it's like the aura of strength people have, and when you're really strong and you let it show, it frightens the living daylights out of those who are a lot weaker.
This is from a translation discussion about the yellow databook, so I think several will have it in the future, Luffy and Zoro for sure. Sanji will have it most likely, but in this point I am unsure.
Further I don’t think we should in every move search Ha-ki. Zoros Ashura belonged to menacing spirit. For Sanjis Diable Jambe I don’t know where I should put it. For sure to one of the strongest attacks, but I don’t know the category.

hopefully Oda will reveal more about Haki and that goddamn Asura in the future
Anyway, Sanji's diable jambe is just one of those things that makes as much sense as Franky's mechanics, Kabuto and the perfect clima-tact…
And no. I hope he doesn't rip-off HxH by creating different types of whatever that thing is
-
I'm thinking the storms Dragon makes might be aura and not a DF power
a weather fruit wouldn't be specific enough (make wind, rain, lightning? lame) , but aura making storms, that's badass
-
Haki is the aura of strength. It's what Shanks showed us, what Luffy accidentally did, and what Rayleigh mastered with pinpoint precision and accuracy.
It's different from the illusions that Zoro conjures from his spirit or from Sanji's anger. It's as if strong people are like God and can smite people who are enemies.
-
but aura making storms, that's badass
That would explain the spliting heavens when WB and Shanks collided
-
I think we might see more types of Haki once we see it a bit more. I don't think that'll be for some time though.
However, I don't think Asura or Diable Jambe are really Haki.
-
From what we have seen so for it looks like haki is a form of spirit energy that everyone has but can use in different ways. Depending on how strong the person is the more haki they have, I think Zoro's asura is just his energy becoming visible and making him overall more power not him actually gaining extra limbs and swords. Just like how Sanji's leg gets set on fire and Luffy in gear 2 turns red and vapor starts leaving his body from the pressure.

I've noticed that people have been trying to discuss this to death, but don't really know how to come up with any kind of result. Unfortunately, that's because most people lack the capacity for in depth analysis. Well, that and most people don't want to put in the effort.
But anyway, I've decided to salvage my post from a thread that doesn't deserve it.
@myself:
I've just realized that people are expecting so much out of Haki because of DBZ, Bleach, Naruto, HxH, and basically every shonen manga with the concept of chi.
Actually, I'd have to say that Haki is actually only one manifestation of a person's spirit energy. It specifically defeats weak people. Other manifestations include illusions, mind control, and maybe even the DFs themselves.
Now I want to discuss the old topic of Zoro sensing breath and cutting it. It used to be breath that people said was the key to defeating logias, and now it's aura (haki). It's really the same thing.
I also believe that Rokushiki, Sanji's Diablo Jamble, and Sentoumaru's moves are also based off of spirit energy, but it's not necessarily Haki.
What it's saying is that people can use their spirit energy to generate force and different effects from regular physical movement.
In addition, DF users have an additional spirit that provides them with special abilities.
Now people have been coming up with ideals about supernatural forces giving superpowers for an eternity. Some believe that it is a sentient everpresent powerful being that grants mortals with superb abilities. Some believe that the power can be harnessed and develop through effort and technique. Traditional Asian beliefs are of the latter.
Now what does this have to do with what's going on in OP? Almost everything actually. DF's have a programmed power within them that gives users' their powers. As Zoro has discovered before, spirit lies in all things. This explains why the sea can disable DF users. It's like a lock and key. Normally, the DF program allows the users power, but the sea is the key that locks up the user's strength. It's not exactly like a lock and key because the user gradually looses strength depending on amount of exposure.
I'm out of time right now so I'll discuss more later.
-
Releasing large amounts of Haki so that the weaker people in the surroundings will collapse. I actually want it to stop at that, kinda like a badge for strong people that says "You're not in my league" but I doubt it will stop at that since Oda has been emphasizing it a lot. The illusion one sounds good as it can explain asura.

I've been reading back some of One piece old chapter (cuz it's fun) and i come across the chapter where zoro were fighting Daz Bones in Alabasta, you know the part where he were almost crush by a falling rocks, but he didn't cuz he can hear them breathing, so he know where it will fall.He said that he can hear the metal breathing
And Also GanFall or Ganfour said that basicly, mantra is an ability to hear voices. So, when in sky Island I thought what zoro had was somekind of mantra, but recently this haki thing became very popular.
So this is my theory:
There are a few type or level or maybe a few ways of using haki, and mantra and zoro's breathing technique is on of them.
So the way I see it we have seen 3 ways of using haki(so far).
1.Use it to hear voices to predict movement (Used by Enel and sky priest and I think zoro did to)
2.Use it as an invisible atacking wave to knock down people(Used by Shanks, Rayleigh and Luffy at a lower level)
3.Imbued it with something(weapon) to make it stronger or so it can cut through anything(Used by amazonian and I think zoro did to, when he cut daz bones I think he is chanelling his spirit to his sword or in other word IMBUEing his HAKI to his sword, and maybe rayleigh to when he cut kizaru cheek with his sword)
So the first SH to reach the haki level is actually zoro.So that's it guys, what do you think
-
Zoro used haki way before that man. Look at this:
not really serious
-
Well the sencond type of Haki could be included with the third, they simply generated that Haki aura from their body, something weaker people can't handle so they pass out. When you embed a weapon with Haki you probably allow it to project the same Aura thus increasing cutting ability or strength of the weapon. How they would go about imbedding is yet to be seen.
-
Im just curious what is the english term for haki?
-
Oh and you could have posted your theory here:
-
Im just curious what is the english term for haki?
Some of them called it "ambitious"here, but it really means more than ambitious..
arrogant and the ability that makes you fears. (like king/god) -
yea this thread is bullshit and it hasn't been confirmed that haki stop logias powers and if it does then thats really stupid.
-
I could have posted this in "theories that don't deserve there own thread" thread but I think it does so here goes
I have a theory about, yes, YET again, haki.
what if haki has to do with someones freqoency of their souls or spirits or even of there devil fruits. I mean, everything on the world has a certain frequency, what if using Haki means adjusting your own frequency to that of your opponent. It would explain being able to predict someones movements like that priest guy in skypiea allthough it is not sure it was Haki he was using. And it would explain how rayleigh could stop and even hurt Kizaru. He tuned in to the frequency of kizaru's devil inside. It would also explain why the air trembled at the human auction. Very low frequencies (you might have noticed at parties when standing close to a subwoofer, make the air tremble. So that type of haki might be an extremely low trembling frequency which makes people go unconscious (which actually is possible). So in the one piece world this will probably mean that, the stronger the person, the more resistant to this type of Haki and thus to low frequencies. And when being able to adjust (remember rayleigh saying he could hear objects, could he have been talking about being able to hear there frequencies like Zoro could hear his sword in alabasta?) to someones frequency and his devil fruits frequency or even put it out of phase (This is a technical audio term which is quite simple. A sound is a wave of 360 degrees, if you turn this wave 180 degrees and play it together with the original sound, the two sounds will cancel each other out.) Then the power of the devil fruit will be negated but you are probably only able to tune into a single frequency. . .What do you guys think?? I already thought this when Shanks showed his Get lost eyes to the seaking in the first chapter. . . Nothing has yet destroyed my theory, in fact, it has only been getting more logical, certainly with rayleigh saying that roger could hear things. . .
-
I think Haki really depends whether or not you can overpower or be equal to the foe's intimidation or fighting spirit. That's just a theory. Even agianst Logias, it may have limits. One with equal haki may be about to stop thier powers but defeating thier fighting style is another thing. Ray still had a hard time with Kizaru, and I'm sure Luffy would still have a hard time with Aokiji since he wasn't taking the battle seriously in the first place.
-
Someone's been reading 'Soul Eater'…...
Although it is a good theory.Good read :D -
Where all this Haki Argument comes from?
-
http://apforums.net/showthread.php?p=959885#post959885 <– that's what i thought about DFs and haki.
But you're putting something rational (frequency) with irational things (souls, spirits). I don't understand how you can connect these 2 concepts. -
because spirits or souls are irrational, it doesn't mean they cannot happen in a manga :D
Anyway, it could also be that they can just adjust thereselves to someone elses frequency. There don't even need to be spirits or souls it's just a commonly used thing in manga's. -
Soul Resonance!!!!
-
Yeah but i tend to explain things with the scientific view. I mean we have in the OP world a genius Dr. Vegapunk. So i think that there will be a good explanation to the weird burst of energy that haki can "create" and the DF power.
But i can apply your theory to mine too :p Every cell has its own frequency and if you're (i mean you must be strong to do that) able to modify this frequency then you can make amazing things like as the DFs or haki. With a high concentration you can surely modify the frequency of the electricity running through your body and create waves that can knock out "normal" people or stop DF power. -
Go away, if this makes sense then we will be having "Haki is chakra" or "Haki is psi powers!" theories. Why must people always try to relate Haki to things from other manga.
-
Oh, and I do read souleater and I admit it is kind of like soul resonance but then totally diferen too. Over there it has to do with the scyte and the master being in tune to make a better attack. Also, I said that a thing like a soul or spirit energy or wathever isn't actuall needed in this theory because a thing has a frquency so it can be just used on people in stead of spirits. Seeing many people seem to hate the chi, chakra or spirit approach (allthough this isn't used in "every manga" and even if it WAS, Oda would do something original with that, no doubts there.
And connecting rational with irratonal, for me, isn't hard at all, first of all I have a very vivid imagination and secondly, Is a devil fruit ratinal? are seakings rational? is a talking reindeer rational, is a walking skeleton rational,… those are but a few irrationalities in the series so why not have more irrational things with a pseudo-rational explanation in the One Piece world attached to them? -
No guys you got it all wrong haki is morel like rave in Rave Master. Luffy found one already by chance, his glass armband and now he'll have to search all around the NW for other haki imbued objects to make his haki even stronger…..
I amused myself, all for the lulz!

Sea kings are just huge monsters. On earth there where also dinosaurs and nobody states that it has been irational. As for the talking squeleton it is due to his DF power. I must admit that brook is a complicate case. His whole body died. So the DF power has to take his mind state (as the brain is a complicated connection of nerves and if you can save all these connections….) just beforre the death then it would saved the whole personality of brook. Maybe we can talk here about electric connections/wires (when it comes to the brain). The Df must have created a backup of these state (mentioned as the soul) and let it then come back to his body after his death. As this backup is just electricity it had the ability to float through the air (in the fog
which is basicaly evaporated water). This backup of his brain came then to a rotten body and somehow reintegrated it. This is where i allow some irational stuff cause i don't have any good idea at how he manage to move his squeleton but hey it's a shonen :) Maybe that he gained the ability to move the cells and attract them with a strong magnetic field. I dunno.
The fact that chopper gained the ability to talk is also due to his DF power which modified his brain so that he now has the requirements to learn and to think and innovate on his own.
A lot of things can be explained with common science. Anyway i also aware that this is a fiction so ... -
what if haki is a plot hole and Ocda never writes about it again.

@MonkeyDMalcolm:

that would be awesome, but weird

too much hints too much stuff in the chapters before :) But i'm also sure that we are all living in the matrix now and that one piece is just keeping us from freeing ourself of this slavery. (i need my pills NOW)

Sorta how rokushiki was just a power up to make the CP9 interesting. Hell Oda made it so that it would take years to learn how to do it yet we see Coby and Helemppo using it soon after lol.

Not quite so. Luffy learns soru from watching, and masters it before/while fighting Blueno. Nero was the newest CP9 member and only knew 4 of the forms. It is quite poissible that during Coby's intense training he only learned soru so far. The basics of the six forms.

was re-reading some op chapters, happened across this.

did a search and found nothing. so urouge was using haki to buff himself up?

A lot of things can be explained with common science. Anyway i also aware that this is a fiction so ...I'm impressed you managed to come up with a science-sounding explanation for this one. Actually, this is one of the things I can't come up with a scientific explanation. But there are still questions that needs to be addressed if you'll try to explain that phenomenon this way. Why does Brooke called that fog as soul? In your interpretation, you seem to say that there is a scientific explanation for souls. And I believe there have been some incidents in OP which involved souls, like that of Nami's foster mother who pushed Nami away of her house. And I wonder why that soul/fog came from the skies, beyond the clouds (that's what I watched in the anime. Tell me if it's different from the manga). It is suggesting the very common notion of souls: that they reside in the heavens which IMO can't be explained scientifically.

So the first SH to reach the haki level is actually zoro.So that's it guys, what do you think
I found this also:
!
Ray says Roger could hear all things, and I would expect the strongest man from the old era to master Haki in all it's forms. This theory about Haki actually seems possible.
-
Ray says Roger could hear all things, and I would expect the strongest man from the old era to master Haki in all it's forms. This theory about Haki actually seems possible.
Weird how you would think what Ray was talking about regarding Roger was haki and not a DF.
You say haki in all it's forms but the the one we know of so far isn't even explained. Haki has still shown to be something you would use in a fight, I don't see how it translates to hearing all things…....

Alright, Ray said Roger could hear all things.
Zoro expressed the ability the hear the breathing of things.
Enel and Gandfall show the ability to hear things thus predict movements.
So it's not weird in the least bit how I decided that these three could all be connected, and it would be weird if they were DF abilities.
So it is a theory for a reason, not proven, it is a theory that Haki could have different forms, all of which Roger could have mastered and all types used in battle.
