Movie 8 was the Episode of Alabasta film.
If only FUNi had the "Episode of Nami" special as well. It's only an hour long and would also be great catch up material.
It definitely isn't an hour long.
But yeah, they should get that. And the movies. Definitely the movies.
Alright, I'll give 6 and 9 a try, and I'll definitely be sure to avoid numbers 5 and 7. Wait, 6 and 9 don't introduce any ridiculous DFs, do they? The two Logias introduced in movies absolutely appalled me. One being a good fruit given to a crap character, and the other being a ridiculous fruit given to a crap character (Not to mention that the latter wasn't even named correctly).
Movie 6 has no new fruit…let's just say that the 6th movie is a departure from your average OP, in a good way. Movie 9 technically has a new fruit, but it's actually pretty cool, and the battles w/ said character look awesome imo. Though if you really hate Naoki Tate's animation style, you might not like Movie 9 for that aspect. And by all means, don't feel like you should outright avoid Movies 5 and 7. I knew what to expect from those two movies, and I know I'd sooner watch Movie 7 again ('cause boobs...and the art and animation is actually very beautiful) over Movie 5, but I have no regrets watching them. Hell, I would even buy them on BD if they get released in America.
Man, those promos make One Piece look too story driven for the average teenager.
I am up to date. Very much so. But ever since the travesty that was the 4Kids dub, I've been very careful to avoid any kind of "English + One Piece" thing. It's made me paranoid and nervous about anything One Piece in English, to be honest.
Oh. Well, the first 205 FUNi-dubbed episodes are on Hulu now. You should look at an episode or two and check it out. You might not take to it enthusiastically if you've been watching the sub all these years, but even if the voices aren't to your liking you can be assured that 1) the script is accurate 2) it's totally uncensored and 3) the original music, names (Zoro!), and terminology are kept in tact. It might be a tad bit childish to get excited about, but there's also plenty of cursing in the dialog. lol. And since it's airing on Adult Swim it'll be uncut. I'm sure you'll still prefer the Japanese version, but trust me it's nothing like what 4K!Ds did to the show.
The One Piece 101 videos would make for some good bumps on Toonami as a fill-in for newbs.
Those promos were pretty underwhelming.
I would have preferred some form of narration about the key events of those arcs, instead of "These guys fight these guys, they win, THE END!"
EDIT: But I'm sure those won't be the promos that air on Toonami, right?
LOL.
I like you.
Also, lets just hope it all turns out great…

You're making 6, 7, and 9 all sound really good. Although I probably won't watch 5, because I don't like when my favorite characters act OOC…

Well, I just hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Movie 6 is an interesting film that I found very captivating in art, animation, direction, and story; Movie 9 is a fun "what-if" story of Drum Island w/ Franky and Robin already on the crew before Chopper joined; Movie 7 is just…well...cheesecake. XD I will say that Movie 5 does have good art and animation...it really is the story that just kinda drags it down (it was kinda tedious for me the first time around). If you still decide to avoid it, I won't blame you...but hey, if you're ever bored enough, at least you'll have another OP movie on the back-burner.

Drum Island with Franky and Robin? That sounds cool. Robin is one of my favorite crew members, so… Wait, is this an alternate timeline where Baroque Works never happened, or when Drum Island happened AFTER Baroque Works?
Don't even think about it, it's an alternate timeline, that's all you need to know.
I just watched Movie 5 recently, and I can honestly say that its probably my least-favorite OP movie. Zoros OOC-ness just pissed me off. I mean, if you do a movie that centers around a different character than Luffy for once, don
t screw it up so badly. Not to mention that it is extremely boring. Really, even the stupid ones like Movie 3 atleast more or less entertained me, but with this one, I just found myself looking at my watch all the time, hoping for it to end.

Like Maron said, just an alternate, stand-alone timeline. But I have pondered what it would be like if Drum came after Alabasta and all the events w/ Chopper (in Alabasta) were replaced w/ Franky. XD I'd definitely watch an entire "alternate" Alabasta!

Tonight: Last episode of #tenchiGXP on #toonami! Eps 3 of #igpx! A PROMO for a certain upcoming show! And a bunch of other goodies! Watch!****
He probably means One Piece, but I hope to God it's for another show I've been hoping they'd air…
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
New promo just aired and TOM talked like a pirate! Guess that was the promo they were talking about.
Just saw the newest promo for OP and it was pretty good. The narration by TOM was entertaining, albeit a cliche pirate narration, but the scenes they showed were pretty cool. For what's it worth, I'm happy w/ it. ^^
It was awful and entertaining at the same time. Terrible intro narration but nice choice of clips.
Just saw it too. Wasn't a fan of the rhyming. Hoping they have different promos to show for diversity.
I died of laughter when I heard Steve Blum as a pirate. It certainly didn't help anything from the catch up angle.
It was incredible and everyone that disagrees is wrong.
Steve Blum is now even more godly than he was before.
Epic. I really like it. I just hope the rhyming and the choice of music in the background doesn't jog anyone's memories of other pirate rhyming shenanigans. Also like how they showed Bellamy bleeding and that fight scene in general.
I completely missed that it was Steve Blum until watching it the second time. 2nd viewing was better.
will the [h=2]Arlong Park Character Tournament 2013 be on toonami[/h]
No .
Will John Cena be on Toonami?
i hope so. JOHN CENA and RANDY ORTON are my favorite wrestlers
Okay, we're in the final week before One Piece airs. Let's try to spread the word as far and wide as we can.
The main goal is to get new people interested in it enough to check it out at 1 AM. Even if we have to strecth the truth a little, all that matters is that we help get One Piece high ratings for its premiere night.
What truth would we have to stretch about it?
This guy is funny .
What truth would we have to stretch about it?
Not really anything.
But there are those people who like to judge everything based solely first impressions. (well, a lot of people do that.)
When I say "stretch the truth", I meant something along the lines of telling a new potiental viewer about the basic plot of One Piece, then showing them one of those flashy epic One Piece AMVs.
That way, they'll know the basic plot and also get to see some awesome One Piece moments, which should help peak their interest.
If that makes sense…
No I'm serious, that must've come out wrong. I mean what do you need to say that would be considered stretching the truth? I can't think of anything else to say besides when and where it's airing, at what episode, and that it's a great show.
EDIT: Oh wait nevermind thanks for explaining
I guess, in a way, it's not really "stretching the truth", but more like taking the truth and throwing some diamond rings on it along with some shiny gold paint and a fluffy pimp coat.
To help make it look more visual appealing to the average narrow-minded American.
I just woke up btw…>.>
Showing the apple without the crust.
Let me know if you think of a better fruit that has worst crust for that metaphor.
i will tell my that ONE PIECE is back on cartoony network
Wait your going to tell who now?^
Anyways I think MKJC has the right idea. As it would seem many people still have the impression that 4kids own it??
And for some, the pirate lingo promo didn't help in eliminating that line of thinking either, if the sites I go to are anything to go by.
^Ok, the strange comments are starting to get a bit annoying at this point…
Anyways, are we all excited for Saturday, because I sure am!
I'm sure it will get high ratings, it's inbetween 2 of the highest rated shows on Toonami(Naruto and Soul Eater), Sure it will at least get 900K.
my friends sorry i tYPE FAST
I think one of the main things people are gonna have to get over is the artstyle. Sure it's in crisp HD and the Foxy/Water 7 eps are some of the best near-movie quality eps in the series, but there's still alot of shallow types out there who'll still be all "lol this artstyle man. It's nothing like the cookie-cutter sparky eyed anime with huge budgets that I usually watch, screw this. changes channel" Infact most of the time I can't even get people to show any interest in the series at all unless I show them a fight scene or something serious story-wise. They're so hung up on how it looks that they don't look beyond the surface to find the treasure buried underneath. pun maybe intended One Piece as a series is probably one of the biggest cases of "a book being judged by it's cover." I really hope audiences stick it out until Water 7 hits.

I don't get it. The art style isn't bad at all. The beginning of the series might have been a bit too simplistic, but that doesn't make it bad. It looks a lot like other Shonen series, to me.

I think it's about time you start calling it Cartoon Network. Or maybe even Toonami.
Yeah I know, personally I love the artstyle, but there are some things that probably put people off like the cartoony over the top expressions and huge mouths at times (which I like alot personally.) Mainly trying to see things from a non-fan's perspective, but it's hard, as even when I first casually got into One Piece through 4kids I still saw the art style as unique and cool. Still, these types of people are out there, and I tend to deal with a few on a regular basis.

is it cartoon network, i think i miss it.
We as a people can be very shallow, what can you do? They will just likely miss out on something great, which is a shame.
I'm sure one piece will do just fine. Not great, but just good enough, which I'm sure it is always destined to stay.

Bravo VIZ. Bravo.
And I agree. Very classy and sportsman like.
So I did some calculations and, as long as we don't get anymore movies this year, we should be getting 33 episodes of One Piece on Toonami for the rest of the year. It's very unlikely that Toonami will skip the filler, so we'll have to bear with it.
The Davy Back Fight arc will go on until August.
The Ocean's Dream and Foxy Return filler will go on until the end of September.
Water 7 arc won't start until October 19th.So these are the important dates to remember:
-September 28th (Aokiji's introduction)
-October 5th and 12th (Aokiji fight)
-October 19th (Water 7 arc starts)
-November 16th (Franky appears)
-November 30th (Luffy and Usopp argument)
-December 7th (Luffy vs Usopp)
-December 21st (Luffy vs Franky)
Reposting due to relevance.

That reminds me, back when the US SJ was a print magazine and they did articles on the FUNimation DVD releases, did they leave Zoro's name as-is on the episode titles FUNi made along with the descriptions, or did they alter that and pretend FUNi's uncut DVDs used Zolo?
Can't remember for the life of me.
