That was awesome! I definitely want to see this movie now. Dunno rather to download it or have a friend burn it on DVD for me for $4.
Can't you see micky mouse's head somewhere in the "landscape" in that movie?

Some friend. 4$? It should be 25 cents or FREE. Dvds cost around 20$ for 100.

I can hook you up with a good HQ ver.
Saw it last night and was AWED by the awesome SFX, story was pretty good too tho it did take me some time to figure it out.
Dillinger's table made me go OoO.
I saw Tron when I was young, it was a good movie but Tron 2 is a GOSH NO.
Thread Revival for update.
I'm pretty sure everyone already saw the teaser for TRON Legacy.

edit: Some concept art for the movie.

I will see this movie.
I welcome any movie with Jeff Bridges in it.
It's an interesting set up, tho. Making a sequal to a 30 year old movie. A cult movie, yeah, but it's still a story which most of it's audience might not be that well acquainted with. So they need to continue the story in a way that it can still be enjoyed as a totally stand-alone movie but still keep it somewhat in line with the original movie.

The new bike scene is what sold me.
New trailer!

Doesn't even look Disney. Not like the first did either, though. David Warner should have come back for this one…
Walking, walking, walking, walking, cut. JEFF BRIDGES
So incredibly stoked for this movie.
Another package from Flynn Lives came today…

You Finished the arcade aid? What are those, pins?
By completing version 1 is how I got the Encom badge.
So there is this thing called Arcade Aid and it is part of a bigger thing called Flynn Lives.
By completing various things, goodies come in the mail.

So you completed naming all 167 games in arcade aid? I wonder if I finish arcade aid now, I could get those things. I only got 93 named on Arcade Aid.
Bleh, I got 93 too… this is going to drive me nuts.
EDIT:
…and complete.
My brain hurts.

Just completed it yesterday too. I hope I get those arcade aid pins, especially the light cycle one.
I picked up the comic today, Tron: Betrayal.
Kinda neat to have all these prequels to Legacy.
So much Tron stuff. Gotta pick up the comic. Is it good?
It's alright. I see where it is going.
Anyways, got another package today. I was one of the first 999 people to complete Arcade Aid (number 836).
For this triumph I received a poster in the mail of the Arcade Aid map.
Cools. They're really churning the viral goods like not tomorrow. Still want those AA pins.
the OST leaked…it's less daft punk than i expected. Like you won't want to blast most of the songs but it's cohesive and there are some nice high points. A lot more orchestral than i'm used to from them but every once in awhile especially towards the end they bring you back to what you're used to from them and it sounds really good.
Just saw Tron: Legacy and I loved it!
I don't know how thus will do with the general public though. If you liked the original, you'll definitely enjoy this one.
Can't wait to see it again Friday.

You saw the free showing!? I can't believe I missed the free showing. Oh well, there's still this Friday.
This movie looks awesome. And it has Olivia Wilde in it  . It's a shame it's in 3D. I hate that shit. Will still see it. Need to watch the first Tron.
For 3D, you should sit in the back row. It looks the best there.
I enjoyed it a lot personally ^^
I was expecting the 3D to be migraine inducing but it actually wasn't that bad.
Daft Punk and all the shinies made for some excellent viewing. The plot was ok, and I think you get more out of it if you're familiar with the original movie. But it really wasn't bad for what it was.
Needed a Bit joke though
I could have swore there was a bit joke. I'll look again when I see it later and make note of it.
I really enjoyed this movie. I had my doubts, but those were wiped clean afterwards. I tried to find the first one on On Demand and PSN, but they didn't have it. Hopefully, I can watch the whole thing on YouTube.
Here's the original film. Thank God for YouTube.

Saw this last night. Gotta say it was pretty damn good. I only saw the first one about two months ago, so it was pretty fresh in my mind while watching this. Action was pretty damn cool. Was interesting seeing the interaction with Sam and his dad, especially after
! Sam meets Clu, you can see how he acts a bit suspicious, even scared when he meets Kevin again Only part that bugged me a bit was
! the somewhat obvious ending. In the theater my friends and I were taking bets on how Kevin would not go back to the real world. But aside from that this was really entertaining. Obviously better special effects, however 3D Kinda bugged me. Wasn't the kind that gave you a headache, but was the kind that it seemed…not enough. It was there, but it could have been placed in more action spots.
I loved the movie and I agree, the end was a bit obvious, but then I just went with it.
It's a shame how much the movie has been slammed. TRON is just one of those films that does not appeal to all.
It is also a movie where you can still spot different things after multiple viewings.
! I just want to talk about something that I don't see mentioned, the depth that doesn't need to be explained being overlooked.
! An example is that I loved the whole Flynn/CLU thing and how CLU shows Flynn's development. When Flyyn created CLU, he was always rush forward to perfection and just wanted to accomplish which is shown by Clu being impatient for the next move and no room for change. In the movie we get to see Flynn's development because we see how different he is from CLU. Now he is someone who is patient and just more in-tune. There is a lot more I can get into on this one thing alone as well.
! Am I just looking into this too much?
@J-Sack
Sadly true, I think it became the kind of "in" thing to tear apart Tron now, complaining how it had plot holes and was confusing (which I really don't understand because I found the plot pretty clear).
Also, I didn't notice that about the two. No, you're not looking too much into it because it's all too true.
I saw this the other night and I thought it was awesome. What's funny is I haven't seen the first one.
Then why not catch up?

Saw it during the midnight release. Have to say I enjoyed the original a lot more.
! Plot holes and poor exposition really took me out of the movie - and Martin Sheen. shudder Martin Sheen was SO campy and SO over the top as Zeus that it really made it hard to take the movie seriously after that. And the thing that really hooked me about the original - the creativity and wonder of the possibilities of the future in a time when it was still very far away - just wasn't here.
! I saw it with my production company, so it was really difficult not to tick off the cliches as we predicted them: as Flynn was sitting on the couch explaining (poorly) Isomorphic Algorithms I knew right there and then: "Welp, Quorra is one of 'em. And I bet you she's the last of her kind. And she is naive in the ways of the world." "Tron isn't dead - wait, bet you that guy's Tron." "Bet you they're going to have a sci-fi club scene like every sci-fi movie in existence." "There's NO way Flynn isn't going to die in this movie." "The sashaying seductive chick is going to betray him before long, die for it, derp"…well before any plot development could come full circle.
! The movie honestly felt a little like the Fifth Element or any of a bajillion other sci-fi films where the object is to take the special last of her kind AI heroine out into the real world - like the Tron name was just a backdrop and not so much the heart of the film. The concepts and theories that were supposed to be the crux of the story really could have gotten better exposition - like the whole concept of ISOs. It's sort of, like, because we've seen sentient life ex nihilo in other forms of media tons of times by now, they don't feel the need to take the time to explain why it's such a big deal for the TRON world. If perhaps it was explained WHAT the ISOs could do for the real world, I would have formed a deeper connection the the ideas. There isn't enough setup for anything. Or reason for much: so Flynn effortlessly making a copy of himself is all well and good, but if he recombines with that copy it'll kill him? What? What?
! They could've done so much more with the setting! So much more with the characters! The only one I formed any connection with was Flynn, who was obviously the best part of the film. He's this sort of mystic techno figure here (replete with Jedi hood), but you know he's still Flynn from the first movie when he drops terms like "it's like cosmic jazz, man" in the middle of a speech about algorithms and sentience.
! But that was it. The titular character, Tron, was done no justice. None. At all.
! At least it was pretty.
! 6/10.
I thought otherwise Silence. I thought the movie was just fine the way it is. Is it perfect? Nope. Is it pretty? yes. Does it test cinematic technology? Yes. Plot holes? Minor plot holes
! Now what was done to Tron in my opinion, was probably the most badass thing ever. He was so campy in the first movie, which was awesome. Now we get to see this whole new side of him as the Rinzler. In which his skills go from Heroic to just Anti-heroic bad-ass of awesomeness.

The entire first movie was campy. But nowhere as campy as Caster.
! "Rinzler" is fighting against the main characters the entire movie but gets practically one line in the entire film because he inexplicably has a flashback in his helmet and tries to fight back at the last minute in a lame finale moving at the speed of molasses and then falls in the water. Derp.
! They snubbed Tron himself, just kinda making him a throw away character whose inner conflict could have been a very strong plot device, but ended up just being a quick blip on the radar in the context of the whole plot.
! The explanation for the portal leading to the outside world just didn't make sense. In one scene they say Clu 2.0 needed Flynn's ID Disc to get through it, but in another scene, they explain it was built up high so no program would accidentally walk into it. …Why could the portal be open for only a certain amount of time? Who sent Allen the page? How? What? OK so I'll buy that the programs vehicles like lightcycles aren't able to go off the Grid - but Jeff Bridges has been stuck in the Grid for twenty freaking years. You're telling me none of the multitude of flying objects could have found his cosy cliffside vista in that long a period of time?
! It was riddled with cliches. It took stuff from the Matrix, 2001 and Blade Runner and ripped them off wholesale. Clu wasn't a compelling villain. He bitch slapped a henchman or two and talked about world domination. I lost track of many times Clu bellows at his inept henchmen, “FIND THEM!” and Take her away!” He left the disc guarded by, like, four henchman. This, and many other parts of the movie, were just aggressively dumb.
! And let's not even get into how the minimalism and imagination of the first Tron were shat on. I'm sorry, there are just so many things that clash with what I enjoy in a movie.
! At least it was pretty.

I'm sorry if I sound dumb but what does campy mean? I never got this explained to me.

! >! True, he became a throwaway and could have been a major part in the movie. I was really hoping that Tron returned to his normal self in the last half of the movie, removed the mask and then fought Clu at the portal in the end but what can you do. Then again, everyone was complaining about Young Jeff Bridges face being horrendous rending. Kinda breaks the title huh?

! I believe
! Clu needed Flynn's Identity Disc in order to Mass warp the army and his Rectifier ship and as a key to use to get out for his army and use it as a reverse laser digitalizer (remember when it was plugged in? Yeah, it looked like the laser machine) to get out. The portal|I/O Tower (It's obviously the I/O Tower) was also kept far away so that no single program can get out when it was open. Also, it was explained that the portal uses a lot of energy in order to be open and so it has a time limit.
! Clu sent the page. For Jeff bridge's home, I thought it was because it was built inside the rocky formations and cloaked from Clu's radars.
! > >! It was riddled with cliches. It took stuff from the Matrix, 2001 and Blade Runner and ripped them off wholesale. Clu wasn't a compelling villain. ! >! A lot of movies take something from something. Matrix took stuff from the original Tron respectively. But what can we do, all movies are bound by cliches and taking from things.
! I didn't really find Clu a problem to be truthful, but that's just me. He being the program that he was made for. Sark and MCP were still better than Clu 2.
! > >! And let's not even get into how the minimalism and imagination of the first Tron were shat on. I'm sorry, there are just so many things that clash with what I enjoy in a movie.

! Yeah, it was very pretty. Well, we all can't be satisfied with the movie right? I found the script weird, the story weak and it isn't a great movie but I still enjoyed it enough to not be bothered by cliche's and whatnots.
Interview with writers of Tron Legacy talking of the world of Tron and explaining some stuff about the story [SPOILERS]:
Just finished watching both of them back to back.
I'd pretty much insist that anyone who was going to watch Legacy watches the first one shortly before since it does help with a lot of character and story growth.
Did like how the plot didnt fuck around just got straight into it. Also liked how Sam knew exactly where he was when it happened instead of all of the "oh man, no, what is this?" "this cant be happening" stuff you usually get in this kind of thing.
Definitely not as bad as the reviews are making out.
