Chapter 504 "Pirates Front Lines Moving"

hmm weird old marine falling asleep while transporting Axe hand Morgan. I wonder what happened to that guy. i dont' recall ever seeing him again.
Assuming you mean the one that was cut, that was Garp.
I sort of doubt it, considering it doesn't really match the silhouettes that were shown when Robin talked about the admirals. It could be though.
Sillouhettes in One Piece aren't that reliable.
-
^Damn, the internet does fail at sarcasm.
-
Is Hawkins joining that Battle ?
I dont know what exactyl he means… -
The fact that some of the supernovas are running away is a smart choice. For example, a lion is in your neighborhood. Will you stay behind to fight it or will you run away before it spots you instead?
-
he means that they don't have to hurry and escape ASAP, couse they will be allright
-
yea for the most part besides Capones outright "lets get the F out of here now"
The rest are kind of like, well they probably won't care about me, will just focuse on Luffy and crew. So I could just hide out or leave, doesn't really matter. But either way he screwed things up. I can't just hang out anymore, cause if they do encounter me, they would proabbly just take me out then.
-
Sweet chapter. Nothing really unpredictable happened, but the execution was terrific.
@aohige or anyone else fluent in Japanese, when Doflamingo says, " …the Royal Shichibukai," what exact form of Royal is he talking about? Did the Marines offer them equal status to the Tenryuubito for fighting against Whitebeard?
Other notes:
1. I was surprised by the skill of that "devious tactician" and his ability to fake his own death. Man Oda does like screwing with us. Is he gonna give that marine back his head too?
2. Oda screwed up again a la Moria's teeth. The auction house symbol magically morphed to having a curved smile and two rows of teeth instead of just one. This makes it much more similar to Doflamingo's logo… obviously.
3. I like how we're being shown that the supernovae aren't a coherent group. Some are cowards, others combative, and still others too curious for their own good. Giving them these kinds of differences really fleshes out the different paths one can take to the New World.
4. Trafalgar Law is a skilled swordsman on par with zoro, as well as a devil fruit user. He cut off the marine's head from a distance with his sword before switching that head with the cannonball. So, his DF skill seems to be to switch the positions of things of relatively the same size.
5. I really really like this guy for some reason:
OP has the best throw away characters of any manga ever. -
What an amazing chapter…
-
Now this is the pace that OP should be going at. I have to say I havn't payed much attention to OP after Foxy but since Franky join I'm more exited for every chapter. All thats left is for another female to join and I'll be even more happier.
So much to do in so little time coating the ship and all.
-

The full title was always "Ouka Shichibukai". "Ouka" means Royal.

Well Oda is deciding to get more serious as i thought. What a grousome way to die. Watching as a cannon replaces you as your head and blows your body to dust. I think Oda is going to have fun with these new pirates.
I find it strange the simularities between Kuma and Kidd. Reminds me of an earlier pediction i made about what may happen later on.
I was getting worried we wouldn't see other crewmates but they've all been slotted in perfectly. Plus as someone has said eariler Bounty rises are coming for the strawhats its pretty much happening probbally after fishman island.
i now think the for sure that the fishman adventure will surely have a story changing power increasing effect on them. Higher pressure etc. Will force their bodies to work harder. just like the high altidue of skipiea made them stronger as they came back down to earth.
i've only seen the raw and i like what i've seen thanks ODA ^__^
oh and does anyone think that the two pirate crews leaving early for fishman island recieved a bad coat for their ships
-
Surprised noone has mentioned that hawkins has the ability to 'look' into the future, since he said "the signs do not show…" means he can see into the future.
Cool ability! Kinda like the priests of skypiea, except hawkins can probably look deeper.
-
I was surprised by the skill of that "devious tactician" and his ability to fake his own death.
Who are you talking about right here? The guy who bit off his tongue? I don't recall seeing him in the chapter. Was he there??
Oda screwed up again a la Moria's teeth. The auction house symbol magically morphed to having a curved smile and two rows of teeth instead of just one. This makes it much more similar to Doflamingo's logo… obviously.
I think the symbol has variations. And I think the symbol we see in this chapter is on Doflamingo's clothes. Though ~~ I could be wrong.
I like how we're being shown that the supernovae aren't a coherent group. Some are cowards, others combative, and still others too curious for their own good. Giving them these kinds of differences really fleshes out the different paths one can take to the New World.
Yeah, thought this was cool too. Everyone has their own attitudes and characteristics already being differentiated.
Trafalgar Law is a skilled swordsman on par with zoro, as well as a devil fruit user. He cut off the marine's head from a distance with his sword before switching that head with the cannonball. So, his DF skill seems to be to switch the positions of things of relatively the same size.
I don't think he uses his sword actually. I think he is just holding it out ~~ but actually switches the head and cannon ball completely with his powers. I just don't believe Oda would randomly draw in someone getting beheaded as if it were nothing….you know? I don't actually think the guy is even dead. Just hurt badly probably.
@Kuso:
Now this is the pace that OP should be going at.
I don't follow this? They talked 17 out of the 19 pages right? So no progress was really made according to all the people who complained about the last few chapters?? Don't get me wrong ~~ I loved this chapter and all the previous too, but I just don't see how this pace is any different.
OP has the best throw away characters of any manga ever.
True indeed. I love the detail that these random people get. Rather than just empty faces to give us the feeling people are there ~~ without giving them too much to identify.
LIKE THE GIANT FROM ROSWALD. Where'd he go this chapter!?? OH SNAP! Page 7 he is chilling outside still!! Man, Oda never fails to draw that guy in~!! Thanks Oda =)
-
2. Oda screwed up again a la Moria's teeth. The auction house symbol magically morphed to having a curved smile and two rows of teeth instead of just one. This makes it much more similar to Doflamingo's logo… obviously.
Well considering Doflamingo is a pirate (even though Shichibukai) I doubt the goverment wants his Logo imprinted on the human sho (i mean whatever they call it). So it could just be a slightly altered one he uses for his business.
Or if someone said it was on his shirt shown, he could have altered his flag a bit since we last saw him. Pirats can change their flag you know.
-
very awesome chapter!

Simply Amazing chapter, Oda is getting better and better, and is it me, or is the art getting way better!
Anyway, I find it amazing that basically all the SH's are willing to just jump in and fight now, before it would just Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji, but now you see them all hype to get into battle
2nd, I think that Rayliegh will get into the action before this arc is over, maybe hold the Admiral off or something, idk, and Garp is coming too, wow, so much is going on
3rd, Next chapter, please Oda show some of WB vs. Shichibukai!
Plus, it looks like Moria will be heading into battle again, wonder is Abosolm and Hogback is with him???4th, Blackbeard is a smart dude, wonder what else he has planned up, and is Luffy is gonna kick his ass, before the manga is over????!!!
5th, WHAT the heck kind of powers do Law and Killer have???
Oh oh oh, and 6th, looks like we're gonna see that Giant again, I'm guessing at Elbaf??
Oda love Giants in his manga, seriously, they always seem to get parts in the manga, you never see a Giant hanging out in the background! -
epic chapter is epic.

Well actually it was just Sanji, Zoro, Robin, and Brook that were ready for action. Franky was carrying Camie, and Usopp was shown scared and didn't want to be in it. Nami and Chopper were in that scene too (so it wasn't really they wanted to fight, like Sanji and especially Zoro tend to want to) they were just ready.
Also I really hope we don't see Whitebeard action till this is all over. Sort of a Ace vs blackbeard flashback. If we go back and forth this arc, it will be slow, and ruin the fights. Better to just show strawhats now, and do flashback of whitebeards fight and no interuptions.
-
Awesome, When the strawhats get to the Giants island, that giant slave is totally going to help them out.
-
I don't think we'll we WB vs WG till right after the Fishman Island arc ends just like Ace vs. BB didn't happen till right before Thriller Bark.
Though with all the events it kinda makes an encounter with Jimbei seem irrelevant. Isn't Ace being executed on a Tuesday or something?
If Tuesday is still a ways away does that mean the Shickibukai have time till they confront WB cre and thus Jimbei still has time to meet the Strawhats.
-
well im still unsure but i think Kidd does use a katana
-
AWESOME. that is all
-
RIght now Shichibukai only gather together they will not figt WB before SW leave island
-
Well I suspect regarding Whitebeard vs the Shichibukai that we will either see it after the Supernova's left Shabondy or when they enter the new world as a flashback. I don't think it is Oda's style to just interrupt one string of action to enter another and jump back to it (regarding a completly different place and persons), which I like very much. This way to put it into a a picture, the threads knot together into a good net rather than staying loose.
Regarding one of the Supernova's dieing… for some reason I think it could be Hawkins. It would somehow fit into place with things going chaotic and being upredictable, even for someone who can supposedly read the future. -
maybe he's just using tarot, not some DF power to look into future
-
Or Shakky claimed that she could read the future and ripped him off :D :P Sorry just couldn't resist sayin' it right now :D
-
The full title was always "Ouka Shichibukai". "Ouka" means Royal.
Oh well then, there goes that idea. Likely they've had Tenryuubito level legal immunity from the beginning. Thanks for the heads up though.
@Hinscher:Well considering Doflamingo is a pirate (even though Shichibukai) I doubt the goverment wants his Logo imprinted on the human sho (i mean whatever they call it). So it could just be a slightly altered one he uses for his business.
Nope, it morphed. Here's the logo on the back wall in ch. 501:
And here's the same wall in 504:It's maaaagic.
@brennen.exe:Who are you talking about right here? The guy who bit off his tongue? I don't recall seeing him in the chapter. Was he there??
Check the first page of this thread, the guy who bit his tongue is on pages 11 and 16 of this chapter.

I just don't believe Oda would randomly draw in someone getting beheaded as if it were nothing….you know? I don't actually think the guy is even dead. Just hurt badly probably.
Well, Law has his sword sheathed at the start of the fight, unsheathed in a follow through stance when the guy gets decapitated, and resheathed for the switchamaroo. I have to believe he took out the sword for a reason.
On the other hand, that is an unusual lack of blood for chopping someone's head off.
-
Check the first page of this thread, the guy who bit his tongue is on pages 11 and 16 of this chapter.
I don't think that it's him. There are multiple people wearing those same hats ~~ and their faces do not look that much the same…but who knows! edit: Upon closer inspection, they both have a beard and the same T-Shirt on too. I guess it is him! O_O
@boiga:Well, Law has his sword sheathed at the start of the fight, unsheathed in a follow through stance when the guy gets decapitated, and resheathed for the switchamaroo. I have to believe he took out the sword for a reason.
I agree, and I noticed that. But I see no actions that make it seem like a deliberate sword action other than whipping it out and back in. Perhaps a drawn error? Either way, I stick to the notion that Oda wouldn't avoid on screen deaths forever only to have someone decapitated as if were nothing. Granted, this somewhat contradicts my other statement in that I figured the tongue-biter was dead. Though again, who knows!?
-
1. I was surprised by the skill of that "devious tactician" and his ability to fake his own death. Man Oda does like screwing with us. Is he gonna give that marine back his head too?
I saw nobody notice the pirate in this scene, where u can clearly see he actually bite the tip of his tongue…he faked his death, but he must have fainted in pain
-
So Kizaru is bringing a special unit with him. Most likely they aren't ordinary goons. They are either incredibly strong, or just have some special equipment or weapons.
-
Oh what the hell Oda! Lacueva is alive!! Bullshit!! I never really cared about the issue of death in One Piece but THIS IS ABSURD!! WHAT THE HELL!!!! HIS ASS SHOULD BE DEAD!! I'm with Greg now, this is some bullshit.
-
Who cares lol, i mean it's not like he would be hugely drawn on a 2page-sheet, it's more of a 'background gag'.
Awesome chapter.
-

Whee! This argument again! But seriously, since when was biting your tongue off fatal? And what part of the plot is ruined by him being alive? Or is your sarcasm just going over my head?
-
Yeah its over your head. I'm exaggerating but he should be dead.
-
You have completely lost me.
-
Yeah its over your head. I'm exaggerating but he should be dead.
Duly noted. Maybe he had some meat hidden in his pocket that allowed him to fully recover from an otherwise mortal tongue wound.
-
i see all of these slaves and not just the giant helping out the crew in the future.
-
He is a devious tactician, after all. Nice tactic to escape being sold! hahahah
-
"No one dies in real time" has become something of a reucurring joke in One Piece.
Not that I really like it, life just isn't like this.
-
well just read the translation and it seems like they will all split up yet again. Plus i think they got a few hours before the admiral can arrive. Unless hes travelling with Kuma.
VL7 I tihnk that marine with his head in law hands is preety much dead as soon as Law stops messing with him. As well as all those marines standing right next to that cannonball as it exploded..
-
Great Chapter!!! Can't Wait for more action! Especially from the rest of the crew as well.. like the bear or Kidd's crew.
I wonder who called the marines over? Garp maybe?
I wonder if Kizaru also have a df…. like Aokiji.I think Oda might give us a glimpse of the battle between Whitebeard and the Schichibukai in the future... even if it's just a couple of frames... or a page or two.
Don't think it will be something in depth though.I see some of the Supernovas are already planning on leaving the island.
I have one quick question....
Do all of them go to Fishman Island? If so, then how do they deviate to those other paths to the final island raftel? I would think that it would have the same magnetic pole if they all go to the same place... so that means the same path right? -
Wow thanks so much for the chapter. I think this is honestly the best chapter in a long time.
BTW something no one I think has commented on is that Law's Bear has a furry katana. I'd definitely like to see a bear swordsman hehe.
-
amazing chapter. seemed twice as long as usual, so many awesome things going on all at once. loved when nami called the three captains "simpletons". :)
i might be stupid for just now noticing this, but is that supposed to be a piercing on the high point of bonney's right cheek? all this time i thought it was makeup!
-

That's the sword that Law ends up using. But I really, really love the bear. I wonder if he can talk!
-
Awesome Chapter!
It was cool seeing Doflamingo again. Plus, Rayleigh is amazing in removing the bomb collar off with his hands. I predict that next chapter Kizaru will use his "special troops" to fight against Luffy, Law, and Kidd and maybe there will be a glimpse of the battle between the Shichibukai and Whitebeard. -
It's amazing but Usopp doesn't seem scared. Just cautious because he doesn't want to get involved with another Admiral and he knows they will if they get caught up fighting all the small Marines. I bet he's remembering Aokiji and how bad that turned out. Same for Nami's comment. They aren't scared just smart.
Though I love how Robin, Sanji, Zoro and Brook are just ready for a fight. I believe they understand what could happen but they don't care; they just want a fight. The Straw Hats rock.
As for the bounties, I don't think Brook, Sanji or Chopper were included in that count. Remember, the Marines chased Duval for Sanji's bounty. That's not going to have changed so soon. So that leaves at least three if not more bounties open for the other crews. Plus, the Marine was only speaking of those at the auction house not everyone from the crews. It's still very possible that crew-members of Law and Kidd have bounties, just not very high ones.
On Law's ability, I think he can choose what he wants in his circle of influence and that only those with in that circle will be effected by it. Imagine if he were to try to control it around a bunch of people he doesn't want effected. Whole lot of chaos and mistakes. I also think Law cut the guys head off with his sword which means he's a pretty good swordsman seeing as how he wasn't very close to the guy.
Seems the SHs have a soft spot for trodden down people. First Zoro takes the battered dude to a doctor and now Franky hands over the keys to freedom. But neither of them seem to be all emotional and heroy about it, just more like "Why not, not like it'd change anything one way or another" about it.
Seems Rayleigh deliberately missed the StrawHats with his aura otherwise they probably would have understood that's why everyone else fainted. Darn and I wanted to find out if all of them were strong enough to withstand it. Most likely Luffy, Zoro and Sanji are but I'm not so sure on the others. Maybe.
I really can't wait for the next few chapters. This arc is shaping up to be my favorite. So much fun stuff!
-
VL7 I tihnk that marine with his head in law hands is preety much dead as soon as Law stops messing with him. As well as all those marines standing right next to that cannonball as it exploded..
You know what the funny thing is(and I actually am laughing about it:happy:), as One Piece went on I actually kept putting my standards for when I'll believe someone is dead higher and higher. But now I see a guy on-screen having his head fully seperated from the rest of his body and he's still alive. I don't think I can set my standards any higher.
-
The troops are either cyborgs, monkeys, or duplicates of himself.
