@Miracles:
That Was An Attack At Oda For Terribly Writing His Powers. He Didn't Give Moria Enough Diversity.
@Miracles:
Moria vs Luffy was terribly written on Moria's part.
Let's take a moment and put ourselves in someone else's shoes and stop acting like children. Anyone can think of an idea and expand upon it, but that doesn't make it better writing or worse writing. Oda chose to design Moria and give him abilities, stature, ideology, and personality. From there, he wrote out his character in a way that Oda felt reflected the personality, ideology, and abilities that Moria had. Now, just because some fanboy out there who has nothing better to do than let his imagination soar as if there wasn't a real world with deadlines, pressure, and hard work and can think of some other way to expand upon something ~~ doesn't mean what he wrote was bad. Not at all.
Look, just because you or anyone else can imagine in your mind various other ways to utilize something does not mean that the writer sucks because he didn't think of something so obviously brilliant. Perhaps Oda, as an established writer, decided that he didn't want Moria to be a powerhouse God. Perhaps that is why he designed the character to reflect cowardice and laziness. Perhaps Moria, due to his personality flaws, didn't think of something like shadow spears while all he had worked so hard for was collapsing around him? Perhaps because he was a coward he panicked? That panic led to poor choices. Perhaps Moria could have won and had even the abilities to do so, but the fact remains that Oda designed him with personality flaws that made it impossible for someone such as Moria to rise above someone like Luffy (who has a strong perception of who he is and what he can do).
Like I said, he is an established writer. Were he to sit down with you, an unestablished fanboy, at a restaurant and explain his ideas ~~ sure, you with your lovely imagination could argue that certain things could be done better (IE: Make every character utilize every ounce of imaginative power they have possible so that everything is action packed and amazing), but that does not mean or make an overall designed story any better, and I am sure Oda could prove that.
No story is perfect, but the mass majority out there can agree to one thing: One Piece is a very original and unique story with a well written story. Find a book or story out there for me that is 100% amazing from start to finish. There isn't one. Not only do peoples perspectives and opinions differ, but a writer just cannot be the perfect that everyone wants. Oda, however, is definitely a good writer. Now, unless you have an established writing career, or Degree in English or something along that line ~~ then who are you to judge him? Just let the story be and enjoy it, remembering that some things you do not like are just because you do not like them. Not because it is bad writing.
On another note, this thread has digressed far from it's beginnings. I have a feeling we will see more of Moria in the future, but I wonder what his standing will be then. I sometimes wonder (despite the fact I do not like Moria much) if the fight with Luffy will arouse some new spark in Moria to overcome his fears. That would be interesting to me.
I find it interesting that both Moria and Lucci were/are knocked out for a much longer amount of time than Luffy. Perhaps that is something in and of itself? And I hope Kaidou looks cool =)
