Luffy didn't use Soru, the little "explosions" were the bullets that hit the ground.
And looking forward chapter, it will be more "blah-blah" but we might get some new info from Rayleigh.
Chapter 503 "Striping Up The Island" Discussion
-
-
Bullets wouldn't hurt Luffy anyway, don't see the point of him dodging it. Hmm.
-
I think Luffy was actually intimidated by Rayleigh, which I don't think is that easy to do.
-
Next week is gonna be the chapter we have all been waiting for most likely. We will get to find out what is gonna happen now. Is Rayleigh gonna coat the ship, what about Law and Kidd still there. How are they gonna react to Rayleigh. (get coated as well)
Did an admiral get called or was it too much of a surprise attack that its just gonna be Garp coming. What is Rayleigh gonna talk about. Really pumped for next wednesday. man that is so far away. Oh well, should have a good episode this weekend in anime at least. Isn't it Sanji's fight starating.

First words = Amazing really enjoyable chapter at least from my part…
Why? Well my two cents:
1. First it shows very well the inpact the luffys punch had on the crowd, if we look at it the only one ho hasnt even flinched was Law and his crew they are all not even looking at the Tenryubito...unlike all the rest..= SHOWS THE IMPACT OF THE PUNCH WHAT IT REALLY MEANS AND THAT LAW IS NOT WORRIED A BIT
2. When the reactions of law and Kidd are shown they are seen not disliking the situation or that they are now in some kind of poo cause of luffy its more like they show it with their smile-grin on their face that they would have loved to do the same or at least are "impressed" about luffy in a good way (kind of the type of a guy they "like" ) = KIDD AND LAW SHOWN AS LIKEABLE CHARACTERS WHO ARE "ON" SHs SIDE
3.The maturity Luffy displays, that just when you thought it was Luffys irrational act, the instict and just him being Luffy that triggered a punch, you realise that he is well aware of at least the consequences for his act and even appologizes for them...= showing a Captain like posure = LUFFY IS SHOWN AS A TRUE CAPTAIN
4. The reaction of the crew especially first mate = Zorro who says he was about to slice him up (proven by him putting the sword back into its place...) That shows to me the loyalty to the captain, common stance on the things and fearless reaction all together = THEY HAVE MATURED
5. Then we are shown the plan SHs instantly have, or at least they are thinking calmly about what to do meanwhile disposing of anykind of threat...not to mention that the entery of the remaining 3 members of the crew is spectacular itself. Then we see couple of their moves displaying (unintentionally) to mostly = law and kidd of what they are made of and naturally complete panic alltogether
6. Then we see Law politely and calmly adressing Luffy and the "interesting" point here about him knowing marines have surounded the place and one more "interesting" point about, how he says that he doesnt know who they are after.
Then we get the comedy effect with the bear twice...! And hey its a good question whats up with the bear yeah...and is he a pirate too
Then yet again we see how knowledgable Robin is by knowing about Law while the rest of them havent got a clue probably...7. Then we learn about why Rayleigh has left himself be captured. Then we see how little time the guy needs to comprehand the situation and in the end we see his power, as well as three interesting points again:
- him knowing about luffy and more saying that he thinks of him as fearless
- he says the SH suits him well indicating we ll get some shanks happening here
- him saying he wanted to meet him himself!
Spectaular for me idk for others but really good chapter for me
Blue

WOW, roswald may be even more dislikeable than his son..!
-
Yea why would you stuff the women and enslave the men. I would do the other way around.
-
something i like to point out if possible…...
when Shanks was talking to WB, WB didn't mention Rayliegh as one of the people who are still alive that know the sea during the days of Roger.....does he think Rayliegh is dead or that Rayliegh isn't strong enough in his eyes?
-
Yea why would you stuff the women and enslave the men. I would do the other way around.
Necrophilia….......
-
Roswall or whatever his name is is probably one of those "of noble blood" that only sleeps with his sister to presereve the purity of their children.
-
Well, Shanks was once part of Gol D. Roger's crew, so he should have seen Raleigh's power several times. What you point out, SN, is interesting, but it's not a matter of power IMO. <3 Oda just wanted to hide his big surprise for the 501th chapter, maybe. IDK.
-
Thanks much for the chapter. I'm still laughing about the bear comment.
-

Considering Garps statement about Rayleigh I'd say he thinks he's dead. But then again, he also mentioned a dead guy with Roger, so he could have mentioned Rayleigh too.^^
On a different note: Is there no HQ image of the Jump cover? I wanted to see this arcs colors in a better quality.
-
Or maybe he didn't mention Ray-jay because it would have (from a story tellers point of view) taken away from the effect of revealing him as Rogers right hand man?
-
Rayleigh will give us a lot of info on Shanks and other things Luffy will come to see in the New World. But he wont say too much. I'm suprised that he already knows a lot about Luffy, maybe because he (Luffy) carries D in his name. Rayleigh is probably keeping tabs on the D's.
What happened to Law when Rayleigh arrived?
Anyway great chapter. Oda is building this up to be quite something.
-
I'm suprised that he already knows a lot about Luffy
Maybe because he like shakky reads the newspaper?
-
The first five pages of this chapter consisted of O_O faces. I hate to say it, but this kind of stuff really is chapter filler. :|
-
Maybe because he like shakky reads the newspaper?
i agree, why is it surprising that people know the supernovas, the're pretty famous. Just because luffy doesn't care doesn't mean other people don't.
-

Considering what Luffy did it's not surprising that everyone in the auction house would be well…surprised.
Also it was only two pages.
-
There's no need anymore for the SH's to search for the key of Camie's bombcollar because Rayleigh or the giant knows how to remove them without them exploding or even got a key. You can see that Rayleigh himself got no bombcollar anymore. Also, one of the guards wonders how they got rid of the collars.
-
@Kidany:
Also it was only two pages.
Eh, you're right on that.
My mistake.
-
Great chapter, (gotta stop reading the spoilers, because they give you most of the chapter away), anywho, love how Ussop, Robin, and Brooke busted in the place, and I hate the nobles, but I have a question, are these the only nobles on the island???
Also, I'm happy Killer and Law respect Luffy now!
And jeez, the best part was the SH respect for their captain, their behind him 110%
Plus, Luffy and that Bear, lol!
ANDDD, I really doubt an Admiral is gonna come, we get but so much action before the main arc, and if he does come, I bet Rayliegh will hold him off or something!NEXT FEW CHAPTER PREDICTIONS:
Rayliegh frees Camie
We hear some great story telling from Rayliegh after the SH's, Killer and co., & Law & Co. escape!
Rayleigh tells some great stuff, coats ship, and we're off to Fishmen Island!Auction House After Math:
I think instead of the Admiral showing up, Garp will show up and think that Rayliegh probably did what he did to everyone and Garp will laugh it off, and leave, ORRRRRRRRRRRR Garp will show up after the SH's flee thinking a Admiral is coming, and lie and tell Garp he did it! -
I'm glad to see that perona fight did make our fearful liar more confident.
Hissatsu butt-stomp!! -
The first five pages of this chapter consisted of O_O faces. I hate to say it, but this kind of stuff really is chapter filler. :|
Precisely. And I'm grateful for this because this pretty much shows how much you can pack in one One Piece chapter even if the first three pages were filler.
We had the Strawhats cope acceptance of the new situation, a little bit of battle chaos going on, a conversation between Luffy and Law, the crashing intro of the three others aswell as Roswald squashing, Sharlia making for a short surprise moment, Rayleighs big intro and having him directing to Luffy.
Bleach or Naruto would probably have stopped somewhere at Usopp squashing Roswald with having the next chapter and at Sharlia threatening to shoot Camie.
-
Well of course, cause normal butt stomp usually make a huge crator in the ground causing dust to fly up. Which takes like 20 minutes to settle down. Then we would see that he landed on Roswald.
But really everyone wanted to see reactions. And we got them so whatever. nice to see the rest of the crew all attacking people in the auction house. And haven't seen Zoro do his Hawk wave attack in awhile. Thats what he did to slice here cage right?
-
Or maybe he didn't mention Ray-jay because it would have (from a story tellers point of view) taken away from the effect of revealing him as Rogers right hand man?
Ya, I think you are right. Oda always knows what he is doing so he left it out on purpose.
-

Interesting analysis as a whole, blue, although I disagree with this bit. The fact that Kidd and Law were entertained by luffy's assault on "Good Society" does not mean that they are good guys. It just shows that they have a similar anti-authoritarian world view.
This situation is directly analogous to Blackbeard's introduction at Jaya. Blackbeard agreed with luffy's philosophy on when to fight and was plenty likable. But no one can seriously say that he is on the SH's "side" considering recent events.
However, I certainly agree that we are seeing the crew's growth in maturity and confidence.
@Malintex_Terek:The first five pages of this chapter consisted of O_O faces. I hate to say it, but this kind of stuff really is chapter filler. :|
But it is surprisingly enjoyable chapter filler.
I have to say, my favorite moment was Usopp's bony ass crushing Roswald's head. The breaking shades had me cracking up. Usopp's gonna freak when he finds out he got a prostate exam from a tenryuubito.
Also, has Raleigh gone soft? He undoubtedly saved Shalulia from being snapped, sliced, and blown away by the strawhats. Or is this just his weakness for young women again?
Doesn't Raleigh's phrase, "And that straw hat…...... // It certainly suits a fearless man like yourself...............!! " suggest that the hat was more than just shank's sun protector? I think we are finally going to discover that there is a deeper significance behind Luffy's treasure.
One more note: Why did the Marines surround the Human House against Garp's orders? They are obviously there to contain Raleigh, Garp knew that that small of a contingent wouldn't stand a chance against the Legend. So what are they thinking?
-
Well I dont' know if you can say they are sorrounding it like in mass. I mean they obviously are in houses/roofs ect watching the auction. Law was there before all teh SH's and he knew about them. yet we didn't see them at all.
So its not like there is a 1000 marines standing outside with weapons at the ready or anything. Most likely just hte intel guys and a others that sent word to Garp about a possible rayliegh sighting.
-
Noticed something in the colorspread. Everyone is wearing numbers. Well, it's hard to tell with Sanji and Robin.
-
yea I think people picked it to be the number in which they were shown.
Luffy - 1
Zoro - 2
Nami - 3
Usopp - 4
Chopper - 6
Franky - 8
Brook - 9 -

Yeah, it is in the order that everyone was introduced / joined the crew. And no, this does not make Brook the 9th member…
(remember, we don't count Luffy)
-
Yup yup. Strange you can't Sanji or Robin's though.
-
Ahh~! I would like to note that on page 8, Oda went out of his way to draw that strange Giant guy again!! He must have been a captain somewhere (captain collection). Giant guy 4 Nakama!! (hehe)
Also, I love having a little more Brook action, and Robin's wings too. Good little one-shots this chapter I thought. I don't see why people have to label this stuff filler?? Wouldn't it really take away from the story if the chapter started off with the guy on the floor and it went straight to the dialog? At least for me, I enjoy letting the shock set in ~~ regardless of whether or not I know it's understood. Hell, I knew the guards were going to retaliate against the strawhats ~~ but why did they have to draw it? Why not just show one cell of the SHP flexing and then everyone on the floor?? Pfffft, just a buncha filler.
-
Yup yup. Strange you can't Sanji or Robin's though.
If you look very closely at Sanji's belt-buckle, it seems to be a 4. Of course, it should be a 5. So it might be a mistake, or that might not really be where Sanji's number is. I'm not sure where else it could be, though. As for Robin, I think on the cover of the book she's reading there's a 7, but you'd have to zoom in on the image.
-
This post is deleted!
-
Well with the new cover spread numbering Brook 9. Maybe that is Oda's way of telling us that it will be a total of 10. I mean Luffy didn't say specifically 10, he said like 10 should do. So near there is basically what he means.
-

lol!! Please edit your post so that it says something totally different and spare us all!! (oops, I am a hypocrite for continuing it??). He said ten…If I said I needed ten crew members for my ship, I would look at the ocean and say "Well, I don't have a ship, and I don't have any crew members ~~ so that means 0 right?" ~~ granted Luffy is a moron, but I don't think Oda would write that and then be like, "Syke!!! Got you fans!! Luffy is his own first crew member! SUCK ON THAT!" hahaha.
I mean…..........let's not talk about this!
-
yea but don't take me for an idiot either. If I say "hmm about 10 should do" Am I gonna be killing myself if I have 9 or 11. No, so whatever.
I was just pointing out that a lot of times in cover pages and spreads stuff seems to turn out later to have some similarity to it.
Its not like I was stating it like its fact now or saying told ya so. Just pointing something out. I'm not discussing it.
-
(am not going to talk about the 10th crew members (though it could also be like "gotcha!!! the tenth crew member is the sunny itself) but no. i'm not going to talk about it)
i like the chapter, i dont think any of them r fillers tho. the shock reaction is needed i think, or else the whole incident will lack emotion n be flat. at this point i really have no idea where oda will go from here, he could make th SH's ship coated n rayleigh talks to luffy a bit then get the hell out of there, though it could be that luffy fights with the marines (which can also go 2 ways, he fights garp probably with the help of rayleigh or an admiral does come with a battleship n that would give Whitebeard an edge in saving Ace, that way in a way Luffy is partly responsible for saving Ace)
-
From what I can tell is the numbers on the strawhats in this color spread is just each of them being given a number to show how many there are with each number representing when that member became a part of the crew. This can be assumed but Zoro's, Sanji's and Robin's aren't visible or even on them so its just a hypothesis. Nothing to become agitated about.
But in my view Luffy will obtain at least two more crew members because if Oda printed something in the past then it can probably be seen as foreshadowing and Luffy said he wanted at least 10 good members.
Edit:Has anyone noticed that the leader of the marines on Saobody looks like the Marine Garp was talking to two chapters ago? Looks like he didn't listen to Garp and stay back.
-
have you guys seen the shonen jump cover (it came along with the frankyhouse scanlation)?? looks like we've got the official color scheme of the new outfits on the strawhats! luffy's vest is blue! :)
-
we still don't know what sanji or franky are wearing.

NAMI'S FEET!!!!!
After 56 long chapters, they've finally returned!!
-
You have been keeping track!?
-
action house is going to join the strawhats
it'll sleep in da crow'z nest
-
You have been keeping track!?
Of course I have! Nami's feet have been a very big concern of mine over the past year. I created a thread a short time ago in the hopes of bringing the matter to more people's attention, but unfortunately no one was mature enough to take it seriously.
