Even though this chapter is sad, it's about time one of the masters lost. Until this fight, every time one of the masters fought the fight was slanted in their favor. This makes Yami more creditable as villains and masters. But why Apachai?!

I seriously haven't been this on the edge of my seat for a Kenichi chapter in a long time. This is one of the best fights in the entire franchise.
! Apachai dying would truly be tragic, but I have to admit it would certainly raise the level of this manga even higher. And it would be great character development for everyone involved. I'll wait and see what happens before making any more comments.

Apachai is/was the boss. If he dies, it will be sad and make for some interesting story.
If he lives, I will be so overjoyed that I don't care how it happens. Like someone said, either using Sakaki's organ moving technique, or his "good" influence wore off on Agaard during the fight, and the wound wasn't completely fatal.

! Yes! At least the match is a draw and Apachai took Agaard down with him. This makes it more possible Apachai can make it out of this alive. If Agaard was still up there'd be no way he'd let Apachai leave alive after his defeat. It's a match to the death for him. Both pupils are pissed but I think Keneichi is more so because he thinks his master is dead. Agaard lost but his life isn't in danger so Kouskin doesn't have as much anger fueling him.

! Looks like my theory on why Apachai "lost" was half right. Using the same move would result in both combatant's deaths except Apchai wasn't trying to kill. In the end, the battle was a draw but because of the difference of their fight ethics Apachai's loss would be more damaging:(

the wound does seem low enough that it wouldn't have hit the heart. but it kind of feels like this is the authors way of having the masters actually lose one in a way without actually dying. but if apachi lives, it can be seen kind of as his victory. he fought to KO the guy, while the yami guy fought to Kill apachi. Apachi suceeded, did the yami guy?

I got Season 1, Part 1 of Kenichi today. Since Wal-Mart had both Season 1 sets for $10 each. The funimation dub for the series is pretty damn good. Carrie Savage is perfect as Miu-chan.

! I always enjoyed Miu and her battles more than Kenichi's. Maybe because in the earlier chapters Kenichi never let her fight. I enjoyed her part of the chapter the most, though it is amazing how she can lose so much clothing and still keep her composer. Speaking of Kenichi… more fight, nothing really new. I would like to see him lose or tie, but at this rate I don't think that'll happen.

Actually it was Tanimoto I believe. The funny part is that even though Fortuna was low tier, it still took all of the Shinpaku alliance sans Kenichi to beat him and only because he was holding back the entire time because he didn't want to damage them. Which just goes to show how insane the power level difference is.

I'm all for protecting others but I'm also for letting people fight their own fights. Miu is a well trained martial artist that can handle herself just fine and has been doing so all her life. It's almost demeaning stepping into her battles and fighting her opponents knowing full well she's just as capable, if not more capable, in beating them.

Why did the fanservice in this chapter not bother me so much? I don't get it. Is it because Miu losing her clothes makes sense within the context of the plot–moreso then usual (really, who's the guy who tried to attack her ass crack?). Is it because she's actually contributing to the story instead of attacking faceless thugs? Oh, and if someone brings up complaining about fan service, it is a problem when it becomes a plot hole. Does a leotard with holes pre-cut in it even work?
Nice fighting this chapter, though I hate this "master" with the sword. He doesn't deserve the threatening presence he gets every time he appears--he's a terrible character! It seems like a waste that the "student" classes don't take him out. Despite that ideabeing unrealistic for this series, the one other choice is a scene of a "real" master owning this guy. He really has no good future in this arc. I was afraid the fight would take the whole chapter but then we're back to Kenichi's fight.
I have been watching Kenichi and I am about to finish the first arc Ragnarok Arc currently in chapter 134.. I like how its all cliche after cliche, still a pretty enjoyable read lol.. And has anyone else noticed that Matsuena Syun is a "Masamist"? I mean at least the entire first arc of Kenichi screams "Saint Seiya!!!" LOL kinda like BLEACH SS arc.

It was a great climax but it totally gave a Kenichi learned everything he could from Apachai vibe.

! In Kenichi(and in reality too), punches and kicks are all separated by techniques. The speed, rhythm, angle, target, muscles used. You mess up and the punch and/or kick would be ineffective and leave you open to a counter. How you punch and kick is important in martial arts and is the difference between breaking a slab of concrete and breaking your hand. Not to mention Kenichi was in Apachai mode so his fighting style and his body movements were totally different.
kind of a ending i've seen many times. the hero winning by using the "basics" that the masters or super skilled people somehow forget in the years.
it did seem just like a normal kick and uppercut. The reason they probably worked was because they were just that. I mean at their level they are reading each muscle movement, looking for feints, shifting, ect to the extreme. Something as basic as was just used may be the biggest surprise and also the most effective and poweful.

And I hope that kenichi will be able to harness the glowing eye power for future battles, because you obviously can't become a master without glowing eyes.
Well that was definitely one of the best fights in the series. Now to see how this arc wraps up.
