Well…that was something.
History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi
-
Well…that was something.
-
wow, what a drilling blow.
i quite enjoyed the kid's fighting style though.
-
I hope this fight in the present gets as good as the one in the past. man sakazuki went all out. hongo is cold blooded for real. pierce through the stomach
-
I'm going to have to agree with Lion here. I know we don't know much about Hajime's past and original intentions for wanting to learn karate besides, 'To be the strongest' but I feel his willingness to kill his 2 friends so quickly and so unhesitatingly as a complete 180. It comes completely out of nowhere especially after everything they've been through and Hajime falling in love with Sasaki's sister. Yeah, he was a little rough with those goons a few chapters back but that's not enough of a precursor to prepare you for him turning all, 'Screw you guys I'm gonna kill you first!'
I can understand him wanting to test his full strength before he dies but you don't have to kill to do that. Lol, you especially don't have to try and kill your 2 masters and friends who you've learned from so much. I would also say Hajime being this strong is a bold stretch of the imagination but the author can easily chalk that up to him being a "genius". Besides, Hongo just destroyed the guy so obviously he wasn't as strong as his 2 masters.
Besides that though, I'm really enjoying the battle though it feels quite random. It's really intense and right now I'm trying to figure out how Sasaki gets away from this. Obviously he should win by incapacitating Hongo and then refusing to kill him, then escape. If Hongo wins he'd have to kill Sasaki in order for him to be in Yami right now. If Sasaki wins though Hongo can still join Yami by default. By being the only one left that wants to join.
-
I wouldn't really be mad at the guy, the kid came at him with vicious intent to kill, how could you be pissed at a guy who was thrown into a corner and forced to fight with all his strength? was he supposed to die so he wouldn't kill his friend, I mean it's not like the kid was just some random armature

@RPG:
i been slacking on reading lately. man when the chapter started miu was in too many exposing positions but the action picked up . the fight with them in the past seems more interesting that the one in the present.I kinda felt sazuki was a little dark
problem??
-
no . just suprised kenichi wasn't looking
-
That hand drill move at the end there by Akira was awesome.
-
Looks like there's gonna be a 3 week break. Dammit, just when it was getting good.
-
I'm a bit confused here, it seems like they both got scarred by someone else.It can't be Suzuki right?
-
Looks like the flashback is finally over. A bit inconclusive though; I would still like to know how Sakaki managed to get out of there alive. So there is a three weeks break when it's just getting better. I'm not complaining; authors need break from time to time to brush up their creativity.
-
Is Hongo trying to get killed by Sasaki?
-
Wha- Did their auras set the building on fire and then their final attack make the damn place explode!? Lol, sometimes the power levels are hilariously extreme.
Looks like this fight is about to get really heated up now that the flash back is over.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Is Hongo trying to get killed by Sasaki?
Because of guilt over killing Hajime? Nah, if Hongo didn't want to kill Hajime he would have let Hajime kill him instead. Hongo doesn't seem like the kind of guy to let himself get killed over guilt. I think he's just remarking on how Sasaki expects to defeat him without any killing intent. Like other Yami members he probably thinks a martial artist who's not ready to kill is not following the way of true martial arts and thus is not using his/her full potential, thus Sasaki is being selfish.
I'm a bit confused here, it seems like they both got scarred by someone else.It can't be Suzuki right?
It looks like to me they both scarred each other in their final building exploding attack, but then again…how could Sasaki make that scar on Hongo's face with a closed fist?
-
Think he is trying to get killed but not because of Hajime but because of Sho. Since his one and only disciple died, Hongo probably feels his life has become pointless and just wants it to end without taking the cowardly route.
-
caught up fINalLy! So worth it! I am so happy that I can read this weekly now! woot…wait, pause? Whatever, epic manga.

With force you can cut through basically anything, like a cable slashing through steel like a hot knife through butter. It actually happens quite often in fights in real life which is why you need a corner man (cutman), just not on the scale that the superhumans in HSDK can do it, like for an example this happened to Marvin Eastman when he took a knee: (warning)
!
-
A knee is much more similar to an elbow in the way it cuts flesh then a closed fist (in the real world).
…and they usually cut by grazing the flesh, rather then with pure force. Sakaki just grazed Akira, and visa-versa.

…er, and warning, I guess.

Ye but that is mainly due to the massive size difference in the bones, punch wrong (or to hard) and your hand can get really messed up because the bones in the hand are much smaller and weaker then bones in the knees and elbows.
The masters in HSDK can destroy steel like its clay, so their bones must be as hard as steel, they also got absurd muscle power so that they can generate tons of force.
Fists can cause lacerations in real life but they are usually small, in manga world the fighters are usually much stronger so the wounds will also be much bigger:http://view.thespectrum.net/series/new-grappler-baki-volume-01.html?ch=Volume+03&page=62Grazing someone without speed wont leave cuts, burn marks perhaps (bruises), but you still need force to be able to lacerate someone.
-
Jumpin in on the bandwagon now after a couple weeks solid of reading this. I don't usually like the main characters in most shonen anime, but I just can't help but root for Kenichi to be stronger. And of course now that I've caught up there's a break? lol.
I haven't really backtracked much through this thread. But how's the anime compared to the manga? Did they do a lot of editing? The manga hit a point that I was worried about reading it while at work lol. So many torpedo boobies.

The anime only covers up to the end of the Ragnarok arc. It covers the material well with some problems with pacing, but not too bad. Animation isn't bad either, but I don't think there are amazing clips of animation from the series though it has been awhile since I've seen the anime.

Here we go again: http://www.mangareader.net/historys-strongest-disciple-kenichi/444

God, breaking each others fingers and immediately snapping them back into place. That is so badass.
-
@Thousand:
God, breaking each others fingers and immediately snapping them back into place. That is so badass.
Not only that. They knocked each other unconscious but still keep beating the crap out of each other. Insane.
-
It is indeed a fight of insane badassness. Which should be a fighting style. "Ahhh I see you too are a Master in the way of Insane Badassness!"
-
The mask guy is trying to kidnap Miu right? Man, that's one way to piss off the super human known as her father.
-
I really like how kenichi is shielding Miu. Especially because of the face she makes in response.
and yeah, the fight is definitely badass.
two heavyweight monsters clashing body-to-body, doesn't get much better than that. -
Hey, I wouldn't think it could be done, but this manga made two people standing around and watching something interesting.
-
hell of a fight. and this time the didn't have to explain every move. love this fight no clear winner now. and the important annoucement might be a new anime please
-
new chapter is out http://www.mangareader.net/historys-strongest-disciple-kenichi/445
-
Kenichi :,(
Guess this manga will be History's Strongest Female Disciple now.
-
Omg, that bastard hit Hongo with killing intent so that he would attack kenichi. That was crazy as hell, I couldn't figure out why his eyes were shining at first but now I get it and it's awesome.

Yep, that was just really awesome manipulating. This whole chapter was fantastic and moved me in a way Kenichi hasn't done since Kenichi confessed to Miu. The callback to Sho's demise and it actually happening again in front of Miu's eyes really pulled the heart strings. Course we all know there's gonna be a cop-out in the end but still…well done, manga.
-
nooo, kenichi! D:
Miu's stunned face and subsequent reaction is what got to me.
-
Well he is dead, he was a good character.
-
Now this is History's Strongest Mysterious Teenager manga.
-
my face when I saw this chapter… holy fuck. Also Miu is gonna get roasted as well, if she seriously tries to attack Hongou like that...
-
She might have a chance. She's in Berserk mode and Hongo is wasted because of his fight.
-
Hongo's conscious now so he probably won't let anything happen to Miu. Kind of like how Agaard tried to protect Kenichi from the african swordsman.
-
Damn…Kenichi....but still a great chapter. Mui becoming all Anakin is interesting though.
-
i think Miu is going to get captured. am I the only one thinking this? ._.
-
That's what everyone here expects since pencak silat guy wants someone to train.
-
Oh man, this manga will end with Miu and Kenichi battle it out over MOLTEN LAVA.
Miu struggles to pull herself up the embankment with her mechanical hand. Her thin leather glove has been burned off. She keeps sliding down in the black sand.
Kenichi: You were the Chosen One! It was said that you would, destroy Yami, not join them. It was you who would bring balance to the martial arts, not leave it in Darkness.
Miu: I hate you!
Kenichi: You were my first love, Miu. I loved you….
Miu's clothing blows into the lava river and ignites. Suddenly Miu bursts into flames and starts SCREAMING.
-
She then delivers a blow that's supposed to tear Kenichi's heart, the latter will let her grab it with her lava hand then he'll tell her that she didn't need to reach it with her hands since she's already been inside it all that time. Then he'll clench his torso muscles and tell her he's right now the happiest person the world for being able to die with his loved one. Both will shed a single tear and will be covered by lava, thus forming a statue that'll be remembered in the ages to come.
-
Am I the only one thinking the one he wants to capture to turn into his desciple is not Miu like most people seem to think, but Kenichi? I think he wants everyone to think Kenichi was killed so he can rescue him without anyone else noticing during the confusion, then doing something to him to make him obey like seal his memories or threaten someone or something.
-
Miu's "dark mode" confirmed that she's the one who'll be taken.
-
what kind translation is "penembakan hasrat membunuh"? it too far from bloodlust cannon at all. i understand there is no direct translation for "bloodlust" in bahasa melayu or bahasa indonesia but, there is for cannon. it is "meriam". "penembakan" or "tembak" is "shooting".
-
Personally, I hate it when Kenichi throws himself in front of Miu when she's perfectly capable of handling herself, if not better! You know, I'm all for chivalry and protecting the ones you love but what if they don't need your protection? Miu was born and raised in the world of martial arts and has confronted danger on a weekly basis since she was a small child. She knows how to handle herself in danger and she sure as hell knows how to dodge a rock. Why is Kenichi telling her of all people there's no need for her to do anything, not even protect her own self? He's got it? No need Kenichi. Let Miu do what she does well.
Besides that part eveyrthing else about the chapter was great. I wonder how Sasaski will react when he finds out what happened to his beloved disicple. His killing intent has been non-existent so far, even when he lost consciousness. When he finds out Hongo might have just killed his disciple though? After the flashback showing Hongo already killed someone precious to him? Sasaki's lack of killing intent has been brought up quite a few times this fight and it may be a hint that he could lose control. That'd be interesting.

I totally agree. Kenichi's harping about protecting Miu has always made me cringe. I don't know why the author need to add that theme. The beginning of the series was fine without it. It's like Jimmy Olsen wanting to protect Wonder Woman because he developed a crush on her. It's starting to come off sexist. She's the granddaughter of goku/superman/sentry combine together, born from a village of super martial artist, and has been in combat since she could walk. I think she's pretty cool without you Kenichi. Now if Matsuena was going with him protecting her emotionally i'm all for it because she is sheltered. But protecting her physically is coming off dumb. And honestly I love the series, this is just my biggest pet peeve. Miu is my one of my favorite characters and Matsuena seems dedicated to the concept that the kitchen is her destiny quite literally. Well at least the return of Beserker Miu is the right direction. Hopefully all of this isn't leading to a Miu rescue arc but to more KA fights.
