Kakyoin vs jotaro was pretty fucking cool too.
No ending this time, just credits scroll with BGM
Opening:
That last ORAORA at the end of opening literally made me throw my wallet at the screen. Wow.

i think i prefered bloody stream but i did like the opening.Very 80s
I like the new OP we got
they are taking their time with the pacing which is a good thing. I don't remember stands being that powerful in the manga(all the windows breaking in the school from a simple oraoraora) but it looks cool.
I want to think we're not getting the opening until next week because the song is Dio's Egypt and the don't want to spoil the fact that they're going to Egypt.
It's a good choice.
But thanks to the abridged series, Holy Diver is still my #1 choice for the ED.
Waitin' til Monday to watch the first couple of eps with a friend and am pleased with the positive reaction you guys seem to be having. Watched the OP and loved it.

This would be amazing. Rainbow in the Dark would work too
Rainbow in the Dark would work better. Eqypt would be perfect for the name. My vote goes to Neon Knights, though, if I had a choice.
Great OP. Definitely feels like a successor to Sono Chi no Sadame in style and spirit. Considering the pacing I'd say David is going for a faithful adaptation. Probably a 3-cour anime. I predict next episode to either end with "let's go!" or the bug battle on the plane (forgot the Stand's name). We probably won't see Polnareff yet as he wasn't in the preview.
By the way, did Enya and J. Geil cameo this early in the manga?
do we know what's the ending name?

They weren't shown this early, but I don't mind that since they're faces, and most of their bodies, are hidden.

Nope.

Lots of fans think that A level stands move at the speed of light. I personally think this is extremely ridiculous, but they're clearly far, far above humans. Star Platinum crushes diamond with one of his punches at one point.

Isn't that because Araki went a bit overboard with his stand descriptions lol

That might be part of the reason, but by and large it's because they're morons. They notice 3 or 4 instances that might be construed as the stands moving at the speed of light, and decide that it makes more sense to judge by those instances than the thousands of other instances where they move at maybe a few hundred MPH.

Doesn't it depend on the stand?
ā- Update From New Post Merge ---
TLC will be pleased. The Sun appears in the opening, meaning they probably haven'y cut any of the fights out
OBJECTION!
Doesn't it depend on the stand?
No, not for them it doesn't. Because what they do is something like this. "The Sun" shoots lasers. Lasers=light. Light moves at the speed of light. The part 3 crew's stands were able to react to the lasers. Therefore the part 3 crew's stands are all comparable to the speed of light. Therefore, any stand that was able to exchange blows with the part 3 crew is also comparable to the speed of light.
I want to comment on the opening not being that great compared to the other two but then that's how i felt towards bloody stream until it grew up on me.
And ending is Holy Diver, it must be.
Re-reading the manga now.
Next episode will probably end with the tower of Gray fight (it would be 3.5 chapters since we left it, like the first episode) and then we will get one fight an episode until Hol Horse (they're all 3 chapters long save from Yellow Temperance that is 4).
I'm looking forward to see if they fix the Dio-using-Hermit-Purple plothole next episode.
That's not a plot hole. That's just one of The World's powers, linked as it was Joseph. It also took Joutarou's time-stopping ability.

Honestly Dio giving himself a stand was his mistake, but he couldn't have known about the spirit-link.
Huh ? I always thought it was his Vampire powers since it was taken out by Hamon.

The plot hole was actually resolved by Araki saying that it's actually Jonathan's latent stand. Strange how hamon users have kinda useless combative stands.

Enya: "Hey Dio, hold still for a second while I stab you with this ancient probably not sterile relic I bought off of eBay from someone who said he wasn't from the mafia."

Wait, what? Hermit Purple's ability was Jonathan's latent stand?

Yep. Apparently it was mentioned in the artbook Araki put together, JOJO A-GO!GO!

Eh. If an author regularly forgets aspects of their stories, word of god can only go so far. I personally prefer the explanation that Dio's stand ability is to take on the abilities of all the other Joestars. It's a very fitting ability for Dio, who admired Jonathan above all else and sought to obtain everything. Additionally in part 6 his bone turned people into plants, which seems Golden Experience-esque, and he healed Pucci's foot, which seems Crazy Diamond-esque.

Gold Experience did the transformation stuff on inanimate objects, though, and Crazy Diamond's healing ability is more of a "put things back to its original form" ability, which I'm not really sure if it works for what seemed to be a condition Pucci had since birth.
I definitely do think that Araki actually planned to have The World be an amalgamation of Joestar bloodline abilities though, but I feel like he changed course on that explanation during Stardust Crusaders (along with a myriad of other changes throughout the series), but hey, that's the official explanation we got. At least we didn't see him amalgamate his other sons' lameness lol
@Purple:

Throw in all of their abilities and reality basically becomes Dio's plaything.

Well of course. His sons have to have something to compensate for their comparable inadequacy to Dio. Case in point: Giorno.

That was the explanation I had as well. But maybe we can synergize them. If Jonathan would have had a stand, it would have been an ability akin to Hermit Purple. Dio's THE WORLD, manifested through Jonathan's body, copied the other abilities of the Joestars, but it was a two-way link that granted Joseph Jonathan's would-be stand (let's say it was compatible to Joseph's soul).
Sounds good to me.

Well they do move that fast. Polarnareff's silver chariot cut a light beam so every stand on his level would be moving at the speed of light.
My complaint is more in line with the fact that jotaro is only hitting another stand and the punches are so powerful they are damaging the area around them. Stuff like that never happened in the manga
Well they do move that fast. Polarnareff's silver chariot cut a light beam so every stand on his level would be moving at the speed of light.
No, you can't do that. You can't take a single instance of (arguable) faster than light speed and make it take precedence over the literally HUNDREDS of instances where stands on par with Silver Chariot are not moving at nearly the speed of light.
Finally got around seeing the episodes, holy crap the animation is gorgeous.
Technically speaking in the most technical terms possible, the only stands that can move faster than light are The World and Star Platinum thanks to their "Stop Time" capacities, but really, it's absurd to say that any stand normally moves faster than the speed of light.

I really wish you had been there with me, when I was trying to tell them that, because you could not believe the things spilling out of their mouths. "Hey! Star Platinum can crush diamond with a single punch, and he can punch at the speed of light! Multiply his overall strength by the value of approximately 300,000,000 punches per second, multiply that by the amount of force he can compile in stopped timeā¦JOTARO CAN DESTROY A COUNTRY WITH HIS PUNCHES GUYS!"
Yes, let's do actual physics calculations in a world that bases all infinite spin capabilities on the golden ratio.
I want to apply real world hard physics to a comic book that features tenuous grasps on mathematics, biology, history, and zoology!!!!
Rewatching the anime now.

Araki does his research about real world phenomenon. He's not some hack writer who is super inconsistent with the content in his manga. He almost goes overly in depth to explain some of the crazy stuff happening in the manga and likening it to real world occurrences.
spoiler just in case
! Polnareff's silver chariot hit the stand Hanged Man that moves through reflections(aka the speed of light). For his stand to be able to hit it while its moving it would logically need to be that fast if not faster.

Oh sure, he's not super-inconsistent. But he's not perfect either. He consistently makes the stands out to move at several hundred miles per hour. Not several thousand miles per second. What you are referring to is an outlier. One instance that contradicts hundreds of others. Sure, it's canon, but so are all the other ones, so whatcha gonna do?
He does do research. That doesn't mean that he does everything by the book. He exaggerates pretty much everything he does, and some details frankly aren't that important when it comes to reading the manga. This isn't "Let's hit Absolute Zero for four seconds" or "600 Billion explosive tags" here.
Look precisely at the golden spin example I mentioned for example. Not everything in the world is designed to the properties of the golden ratio, and some spins even use a logarithmic ratio. It's simply impossible to ask of that of nature, but if that wasn't in there then, well, Johnny and Gyro would've been pretty much gimped. We also have subliminal messaging turning people into slugs, time acceleration based off of gravitational forces of earth that somehow is selective as to how gravity works between certain objects even though gravity is the force of attraction between two objects, quick eskimo freezing healing, refracting light around a person's body using wind to provide a shield from light, after-images of fists flying in the air (which is, ironically, only possible if those fists are moving faster than the speed of light), and King Crimson.
To be "faster than the speed of light" in physics has a bunch more implications than just "oh, he hit something moving between reflections!" It also means that the mass must also rise precipitously. Ignoring that for whatever reason, space and time itself would distort from just approaching the speed of light, nevermind actually surpassing it, which would have at the very minimum implications for things around it and the glass shard it cuts.
It's a Bizarre adventure, not "Bill Nye the Science Guy's Extreme Science Extravagana". Let's not forget that.
Indeed. Physics go crazy when you start approaching the speed of light. The fact that battles with A level stands plays out approximately the same as with slower ones, is another big point for disregarding the few faster-than-light feats. I mean there's dramatic license, and then there's absurdity.
I like Araki's consistency. It overall is consistent with what it is, and in general it doesn't try to make things sound real lifey like Absolute Zero mechanics or "But moooom cells are boring!" inheritance like in Naruto.
It also helps because when Pucci isn't moving faster than the speed of light even in Stairway to Heaven when people presume that Star Platinum can move faster than the speed of light yet can't lay a finger on him without stopping time, that just ain't right.
Jojos bizarre adventure stuff make sense, until they don't and then they start making sense again.
Much like the Ork teknology, Jojo only makes sense because you believe it should.
It might be little soon, but here are my thoughts on the pacing:
Seeing that we are currently going at 4 chapters per episode, the rest of part 3 would go like this:
! Ep. 3: Up till' Tower of Gray
Ep. 4: Silver Chariot
Ep. 5: Dark Blue Moon
Ep. 6: Strength
Ep. 7: Yellow Temperance
Ep. 8-9: Emperor and Hanged Man
Ep. 10: Empress
Ep. 11: Wheel of Fortune
Ep. 12-13: Justice
Ep. 14-15: The Lovers
Ep. 16: The Sun
Ep. 16-17-18: Death 13
Ep. 18-19: Judgement
Ep. 20: High Pristess
Ep. 21-22: The Fool and Geb (N'Doul)
Ep. 23: Khnum and Thot (Oingo and Boingo)
Ep. 24-25: Anubis
Ep. 26-27: Bastet (Mariah)
Ep. 28-29: Sethan (Alessi)
Ep. 30-31: D'Arby the Gambler
Ep. 32-33: Hol Horse and Boingo
Ep. 33-34: Petshop
Ep. 35-36-37-38: D'Arby the Gamer
Ep. 38-39-40: Vanilla Ice
Ep. 41-42-43-44-45-46: Dio If they follow this, the episode count would go way over the usual 26, and also 39, episodes. Now, my idea is that they are going to animate without stop until they get to Egypt and then stop for one season and the continue from where they left (in Winter or Spring). But this time around they would actually confirm the arrival of the second part of part 3 in the last episode.
We would get Jojo in Spring and Summer, stop in Fall and continue in Winter or Spring. Take Log Horizon for example, it just ended but had its 2nd season confirmed for next Fall in the final episode.
This I think would greatly improve the animation, because even if David has got a budget increase I don't think it's enough for a 4-cour show with consistent animation.
What do you guys think?
Since part 3 is double the chapters of part 2 it should be around 52 episodes.
