Tattoos, at his age? He should be ashamed. You're not a teenager, old fart, you're the fucking president of the USA!
The fact remains that it fooled no one, while Hot Pants managed to fool literally everyone, audience included.
He fooled me. And my heart. Since that day, I only drink tequila.
Zombie horses can suck it
http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/5100/dionosaurhorsezn5.jpg
They can suck it, but if I remember correctly they were like, 3 or 4 times bigger than this pseudo-raptor. I'm sure they eat these things for breakfast.
Don't you remember that time when Jesus appeared in front of Blackmore and then serenely skedaddled away? Or that time when he skedaddled in and out to give Johny cryptic advice?
Nope, cause that's trademarkd by Speedwagon. If Jesus did indeed serenely skedaddle without Speed's permission, I'm sure he'll sue him.
He can only transform into something organic. He could probably figure out how to turn into a dinosaur shroom but can he transform into a dinosaur coat hanger? Can he transform others into dinosaurs?
I was about to say something about Cars' manhood being the size of a T-Rex's tail if he wanted to, but it's too vulgar for my tastes.
Oh, wait, I said it anyway. Well, there it is.
With that, he could probably cock-slap Valentine and DinoDio to death.
Also in the extended edition, we find out that Funny Valentine can transform into a bald eagle. Infact, he likes to transform into a bald eagle and contemplate in front of an American flag in free time. Ya know, like James Earl Johns randomly transformed into a snake during orgy parties in Conan.
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-n0uAqpUIBGg/ThGq1pijrwI/AAAAAAAABcM/T40rH2r7uew/s1600/American_Bald_Eagle_on_Flag1.jpgand sometimes when doing that, a single tear is shed
http://i.imgur.com/zWCcW.jpgYou don't even need to ask Aohige, as any patriotic American will confirm that Funny Valentine did indeed use to transform into a bold eagle to cry in front of an American flag.
Yeah, I remember that part from the extended edition, but it was poorly written. Like, the metamorphosis scenes weren't very well done, it's clear Araki wasn't very much into it. It was so sudden and rushed, like "ok, here it is, Valentine just turned into a blind eagle, passed through an american flag just like in every Sam Raimi Spiderman movie, shed a tear and that's it. Now, let's get to the rape scene, that Lucy chick is gonna catch a cold".
Instead, he truly gave it his all when he created those zombisaurus. The battle between the zombiesaurus and the nazi army was awesome. It was like a good Godzilla movie. No, not the Emmerich one. Any of the other hundred ones.
At least one third of Bleach is training montages.
See there are these training arcs and when you look at it on the whole, it appears as a giant disjointed training montage.
Hey, that was a low blow!
You could've used the same example with a much better manga and it would make my point valid, like Naruto!
(True answer: All Rounder Meguru is a MASSIVE training scene with some fights in between. And it's good stuff. So, yeah, training broski, training!).
And now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna sip some wine and read Part 2 and enjoy.
@.access:
Please, stop putting SBR against Battle Tendency. Both are the best parts of JoJo, made of pure love mixed with golden perfection, it hurts to see them figthing each other.
Don't worry, it's all in good sport.
I just never really liked part 4
Josuke is just not that interesting(He's better than Giorno by a mile though) and his hair style sucks
I liked Jotaro and Joseph making appearances all the other new characters besides Rohan kinda sucked too
A great villain like Kira is the only thing that salvages it from being the worst part and he only shows up in the final volumes in genuine
Tattoos, at his age? He should be ashamed. You're not a teenager, old fart, you're the fucking president of the USA.
Those are scars.
Tattoos, at his age? He should be ashamed. You're not a teenager, old fart, you're the fucking president of the USA!
Tattoos? Tattoos?! Those are SCARS, etched into his All American body. That's right, Valentine is so partiotic that he has MURICA embedded into his very flesh… and soul.
He fooled me. And my heart. Since that day, I only drink tequila.
Whatever, where's my Joseph Nun?
They can suck it, but if I remember correctly they were like, 3 or 4 times bigger than this pseudo-raptor. I'm sure they eat these things for breakfast.
Pffft please. According to Araki's Dinosaur Facts, dinosaurs had this "Dynamic Vision" and reflexes so perfect, that they could effortlessly dodge bullets. They could've dodged that asteroid had there been anywhere to go. Add their superior weaponry and they'll make short work of those overgrown ponies.
But if you want to be stubborn about this, we can fund a new episode of Animal Face-Off, where they will construct imitator animatronics to "test" the relevant animal weaponry, have two wildlife experts (at least I think they are experts…right?) pose as respective animal fanboys and feign tension between each other and finally answer the question in a badly made CG mock up fight with improbable scenarios.
That'll show you.
Nope, cause that's trademarkd by Speedwagon. If Jesus did indeed serenely skedaddle without Speed's permission, I'm sure he'll sue him.
Dude, Jesus rose and serenely skedaddled away on the third day. He did it way before Speedwagon.
I was about to say something about Cars' manhood being the size of a T-Rex's tail if he wanted to, but it's too vulgar for my tastes.
Oh, wait, I said it anyway. Well, there it is.
With that, he could probably cock-slap Valentine and DinoDio to death.
Oh, if that's the game you wanna play then I'll tell you that, since Dio can combine dinosaurhood with just about any inanimate object… he will somehow construct a hybrid between a dinosaur dong and a skyscraper.
Yeah, DinoDickScrapers, beat that.
Instead, he truly gave it his all when he created those zombisaurus. The battle between the zombiesaurus and the nazi army was awesome. It was like a good Godzilla movie. No, not the Emmerich one. Any of the other hundred ones.
Yeah, Godzilla's Revenge
I really thought that Cars could come up with a better design but nope.
For all his evolution-man powers, his imagination is kinda lacking. I mean he came up with plain old bird wings to chase after Joseph's plane? Couldn't he come up with organic jet thrusters? Nature regularly comes up with wierder shit than that. If only he had Diego's artistic creativity… dinosaur shrooms and coat hangers man.
Meanwhile, Valentine Eagle Scene was so full of MURICAN SPIRIT that it made me feel extremely patriotic of America... and I'm not even an American!
Hey, that was a low blow!
You could've used the same example with a much better manga and it would make my point valid, like Naruto!
(True answer: All Rounder Meguru is a MASSIVE training scene with some fights in between. And it's good stuff. So, yeah, training broski, training!).
Does FKMT gambling manga have training montages? Don't think so!
And now I'm going to fill my diamond-laden giant golden bathtub with SBR pages and bathe in it .
Dude, Jesus rose and serenely skedaddled away on the third day. He did it way before Speedwagon.
Jesus is Speedwagon's alternate universe counterpart
Guys, I know these are scars. It was a joke. We're joking, for Wagon's sake!
Well, except ladyJoseph stealing my heart. That part is not a joke.
@Purple:
Jesus is Speedwagon's alternate universe counterpart
I always felt like Speedwagon was our lord and savior.
@Purple:
Jesus is Speedwagon's alternate universe counterpart
Even Jesus is afraid!

Josuke is like a less awesome Joseph, what is there to hate.
I've learned to love the pompadour hairstyle.
It's no different than the gazillion of characters sporting a similar style in mangas like Crows, Worst and every delinquent manga under the sun so, what's the fuss about? It's extreme and all, just like Himekawa's from Beelzebub.
If anything, his hairstyle is awesome!
So, I see some people saying part 2 is the best. Then what the hell am I supposed to expect from JoJo? Is it extremely overrated?
I've only watched the anime, and this feels weird. Part 2 is not THAT good.
Each part has its own strengths and faults, and the taste at the end that you get is kinda a perspective thing. It is built, in big part, based on the protagonist and antagonist him or herself, rather than simply how complex or how well written it is (although there may be a convergence considering we're following their ride)
Part 3's JoJo, Jotaro, for instance, is a more stern, cooler sorta person, but he lacks a lot of personality and heart that his grandfather had during his fight with the Pillar Men. But he still has many great and excellent moments to look forward to. Just having the ride centered around him isn't as much of a rowdy globetrotting tour is all. But make no mistake that Part 3 does a lot of things well that weren't done so well in Part 2, and, being the start of the super long parts, you'll always find a few ups and downs here and there.
My personal favorite is Part 4, and although Josuke isn't nearly as great as Joseph, he's still colorful enough, and between Araki really experimenting with the stand concept and everyone's efforts towards the villain, it really shines through there. The cast is really great, and you really have to hand it to the villain.
Part 5 being ranked low is almost exclusively because of the focus on the surprisingly not so great for what he is GioGio and the villain, and the story is better taken as following the rest of the cast whom are all very engaging.
Part 6 is where Araki starts getting bogged down by the complexity of things, but some of the stands and fights are neat. Jolyne being the single female JoJo is a change of pace, though, and the villain endeavors during the story to get Dio's bone put inside him.
Part 7 is a wild cowboy adventure involving a paraplegic, an Italian with a fine set of steel balls (also could say this is a Spagetti Western), Jesus Christ's remains, and hardcore patriotism. Naturally, this is one of the higher ranking JoJo's, and I often end up mixing up my list between parts 2, 4, and 7 a lot (even though the deuteragonist that makes it fun isn't a JoJo)
Part 8 is alrightish so far, nothing too engaging in terms of the protagonist, but if any part lives up to the series' name, it's this one.
tl;dr the lists are more based on and/or correlates to the part's JoJo, each part has its merits that make it stand out compared to the rest.
And there's a rule that part 1 shouldn't be compared to the rest. For it's age.

Couldn't have summed it up a better way.

Should I take this out of context or just leave it alone?
Should I take this out of context or just leave it alone?
You can do whatever you want!
but the answer is pretty much the implication

Coming in here as a total JoJo newb, who's slowly been chugging through the new anime (currently in the last stretch of Part 2), I actually think part 1 holds up pretty well; at least in anime form. Its weaknesses is being short and simple, but I thought of it more as short and sweet. The first three episodes are bloody amazing as a self contained little set. To be sure, part 1 is more cliché and "ordinary" compared to the more wild part 2, but I think Part 1 pulls through due to a feeling of…earnestness? Like Seven Deadly Sins, its not that you've never seen this stuff before, its just executed in a great way, that lets you know the series has a soul (as opposed to plasticy garbage like Fairy Tail).
Part 2 has an immensely better protagonists and better scenario setups, but compared to part 1 the villain feels like a downgrade. Cars is just kind of boring (AC/DC was a riot though), and cannot match up to Dio in any way shape or form. Although the "laughing scene" after the fall of the cliff was pretty great, I hope to see more of that.
All in all, great series, it just oozes "fun factor", in the best way possible.

I agree that Phantom Blood is not as dated as it's made out to be. The chapters up to Dio vs Jonathan round one are absolutely amazing and made me love Jojo right from the beginning, but the zombie knights parts are a bit of a letdawn.
Battle Tendency was an improvement in every way, and I take it you haven't watched the last couple episodes of part 2 when you say that Cars doesn't live up to Dio.

Cars really picks up as a villain the moment he takes off that turban and shows off his fabulous hair.
Two words: Leg Guitar.
That's all his villain cred needs.

I take the laugh part was the last episode you saw ?
Cars sure doesn't do anything special when the other two get some spotlight (AC/DC had a very short time though) but he certainly shines (get it?) once it's his turn to fight. He might still not live up to Part 1 Dio in the eyes of many but as a main villain he deserves that place compared to the other two.
And he get more fabulous as the fight progresses.

The first three episodes are pretty condensed, and David Productions did a great job of pushing it at a good pace. I think, otherwise, it was 17 chapters or so chapters, basically the length of any series that gets the chopping block early in WSJ. But I think one thing is age, but also the fact that it's the First part, and as such Araki's really trying to figure out what he wants to do with the series besides make really manly men fight and make rock band references.
And yeah, not too many villains can compare with Dio though, but Cars as the part progresses makes his own mark on the series. He's a really out-of-this-world villain by the time you get to the end of Part 2, and between him, Wham, and ACDC, they each offer something to the setting.
But you're pretty much right on the money in terms of the first two parts basically being defined as "cliche but done with lots of heart." These parts especially being a reflection of the super bulky manly-man figures of the 80's, its appeal is built primarily on its core of very stand-out characters, quirks, and how much fun Araki seemed to have just drawing these things before he really started getting into his own set of abilities. Also, posing.
I'm pretty sure that the first arc (From the start to dio vs the statue) was intended to be the whole story not only if Jojo's was canceled, but all that Araki had planed, the chapters between that and Bufford are very awkward, even by araki's STANDars.
You definitely get that sort of vibe that JoJo was supposed to be a 17 chapterish series, so I kinda really wonder how it held up in the rankings.
@Purple:

From what I can gather (Jump rankings from before One Piece are a bitch to find, apparently), Jojo did mediocre (early parts) to terrible (later parts) in the rankings, but had amazing volume sales. A Hunter x Hiatus and Bleach situation, maybe.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
It was competing with Dragon Ball, Yu Yu Hakusho, Kenshin, and eventually One Piece, that needs to be considered.
I can buy that. I don't really see it being too popular with the young'uns in terms of sales as opposed to something like all those stuff you listed, but for those who read it on a continual basis, the sales could definitely be pretty strong amongst the upper end of the demographic who have more purchasing power.
Bleach will forever be a mystery, though.
My musings on the possibility of Cars's return
! It's possible.
! Space is, of course, vast and empty. Given a million or a billion years, Cars probably would have never hit a planet or what have you, let alone Mars–even given gravitational pull. However, space is also criss-crossed liberally by cosmic rays that could conceivably supply Cars with enough energy to revive. The problem in THAT scenario would be that, despite his strength, his powers are limited to immortality and being able to use any ability an animal could magnified to a super-extent. He's essentially Superman smushed together with a Beastmaster type plus vampirism. That's hardly enough for him to course-correct to a planet he could use while drifting in the depths of space.
! But he still has hope, in the wonderful boon Pucci inadvertently gave him: a vastly accelerating cosmos.
! Recall that when Pucci reset the universe, he didn't do so directly. What he did was accelerate time relative to living things. Things eventually got so accelerated that it ended the universe and a new, similar universe spun to roughly the same era as the old one, as would have been (presumably) been its natural course–a natural self-correction. Cars is immortal--while everyone else in Universe 1 naturally died (including Giorno and GER--they can negate something directly happening to them to 0 but they can't stop an enemy stand remotely nor can they halt the ravages of time), he didn't.
! And here's the kicker--in a vastly accelerated universe, Cars is given a smorgasboard of swishing cosmic energy to work with, however briefly relative to him. Just picture a buffet of supernovas happening in the blink of an eye. Not only would this wake him, he'd be able to ride it, to use it (obviously in a limited capacity; he's not a god). Not only would he survive unto the present time (in Ireneverse, not SBRverse), he'd be placed in a much better position to do something about his fate.
! Those are my thoughts

Part 4 and 5 at the bottom? Come on son.

The opening was pretty damn badass. I watched it in absolute shit sound and video quality though
@Rolor:
! Wait, what sort of story can lead to 36 Cars on Mars ? I'm really curious now
! I believe last year or so there was a light novel released focusing on Joseph's father, Jorge Joestar, as he was raised in the Canary Islands after Erina landed there. This story also featured things such as
! If I Recall Correctly
-Giorno survives the stairway to heaven stuff thanks to GER
-Rohan Kishibe survives the stairway to heaven stuff by just working on manga
-After 36 repeats of Stairway to Heaven, each iteration produces a Cars that happens to land on Mars, and they all happen to be freed from their abominable nightmare of being stuck not-thinking forever.
-Morioh and the island that Passione is on grow legs and run into each other
-Cars (all 36 of them) descend upon humanity again but don't threaten stuff
-I think Killer Queen leaves Kira for Cars
-Each iteration of Cars develops an uber form of previous villain stands, so stuff like Ultimate The World Requiem or stuff like that show up
-Jonathan's head somehow gets sewed onto Dio's body and he goes to the SBR universe or something
! There are a few details I forget and this list may not be completely correct, so let me see if I can find the original post on it. Really makes me wish I could read Japanese just for the premise lol
Edit: Sauce was Kewl's translation of asummary: http://ls57tiger.freepgs.com/jojo/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=120464#p120464
Kakyoin vs jotaro was pretty fucking cool too.
No ending this time, just credits scroll with BGM
Opening:
The ending is coming next week.
Episode was great overall. Opening is really growing on me. Love the beginning with Jonathan and Joseph
Horriblesubs is out
my bet is this to be the first of two opening for stardust crusaders. the second starting with iggy's entrance

There is a part in the intro that shows 5 falling stars which obviously would be Jotaro, Joseph, Avdul/Avdol/Abdul, Polnareff and Kakyoin. Then near the end of the falling star scene another sixth smaller star appears which surely is Iggy.

I know, but the fact he appears later just show me he will appear in the story. but there's no image of him in the opening, so I bet he'll appears in the next, which will cover the only egypt part
That episode was better than the last. I'm really really liking the soundtrack for SC too, it fits perfectly with the mood/tone of the scenes. Next week's episode looks amazing too,
! I'm really looking forward to how epically they animate Jotaro's removal of the Dio-octopus from Kakyoin.
I can't say anything about the Opening that hasn't already been said. It was really awesome, with nice fluid animation and a song I'm looking forward to hearing again week after week.
No Ending though…are they just going to continue with a credit roll or has it really been confirmed the ending will be used next week?
It's been confirmed the ending is next week: http://ls57tiger.freepgs.com/jojo/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=177484#p177484
I want to think we're not getting the opening until next week because the song is Dio's Egypt and the don't want to spoil the fact that they're going to Egypt.
The opening is so damn oldschool '80s show, IT IS SO DAMN OLDSCHOOL '80S SHOW. This is how JJBA anime opening would actually sound like if they made it back while SC was being serialized.HOT DAMN.

Exactly what I was thinking as well.
The moment the synthie will set in I will probably need to change my pants. Fanjuices shall flow.
