Winning Eleven series
Games you hate that are loved by everyone.

Winning Eleven series
-
Halo 1 and 2, Final Fantasy X, GTA (How can this game NOT get boring after awhile?). Also every Gran Turismo game.
-
@The:
every Gran Turismo game.
You are my friend.
-
Dynasty Warriors.
Basically anything KOEI makes.
-
@The:
Final Fantasy X, .
…..........
This saddens me.
It wasnt that overhyped, but it was definately really really good.
Now, FFX-2, that was crap.
EDIT: Hey, BF is that Gary Cole as your AV?
-
Oh yeah, Grand Theft Auto. I can see the appeal and the first PS2 was freaking revolutionary for its time but…yeeeeah.
-
The only thing I've truly enjoyed in the GTA series was the Motorcycle roof jumping. Otherwise my shitty vg-driving skills have impeded most love for the games.
I don't really "hate" it, but Zelda: A link to the past. Played it for the first time on the GBA, and sure, it was ok fun but I could never see what the fuss was all about. And running around the entire 2 worlds several times to see where I could use newly aqquired item X that I might progress frustrated me to no end.
On the true Hate list we find: Vagrant story, Dark Chronicle and Star Ocean 3.
-
any Command & Conquer.
i always thought they were very average wargames and never really enjoyed playing them.
i also pretty much hate GTA, Tekken, and all of these quake-like.
-
Man, I suck badly when it comes to these hate topics. Something which is loved by everyone but I hate it… well, uh, man this is hard. Perhaps Gran Turismo series? Nah, those are still pretty well done.
-
Kingdom hearts. Square and Disney fanservice + shitty camera angles.
-
soul caliber, tekken…i cant remember combos that are like >,<, P, L, ^, ^+>, >+<+ ^ + A, A, >, ^, >, >+B, <+C, B +A , A, B...etc
-
Halo Series
Gran Turismo Series
and Grand Theft Mutherfucking Auto…The only game suitable enough for wigger kind. -
the Metroid Prime games
the 3d Zelda Games
the 3d Pokemon games
Any Rayman games after 2
Beyond Good & Evil (didn't exactly hate, but didn't enjoy either.)
Wild Arms 4 (the rest are awesome)Edit: the 3D sonic games after Sonic Adventure 2

Wut? FFX was overhyped when it first came out. People were going nuts over it because it was "so realistic looking" and had a ton of vocal cutscenes. Because of the fanbase getting off to it, it was my main reason to get a PS2 at the time. When I finally did…I was presented with a linear RPG with a whiney, pretty boy antagonist who's basically moping because daddy didn't love him, with an absurdly confusing sport mini-game that REQUIRED you to complete it once during the storyline, with a final boss that turned out to be...a floating ball that absorbed your summons. The final kicker? The only awesome character in the game is really a ghost and the main character was a dream the whole time.
I didn't think FFVII was spectacular, but X just annoyed the living crap out of me because of the overhyping it got for a ridiculously badly written game.
Nobody loves those, though.
Except the blind Sonic fanboys. I swear, they exist. I've met someone who fully believes Shadow and SONIC THE HEDGEHOG are far superior to the 2D titles. -___-;
-
Bah, I don't get all the hate for FFVII. Sure it's overrated as hell, but I don't see a reason to actually hate it.
-
Fighting games that use combos for everything.

Think about it for a second. Not only is it overrated and not exactly original in terms of writing, but it's also been highly overmarketed. Considering there are other Square titles (and a couple of FF titles) that deserve far more attention, FFVII has WAY too much attention given to it. It has…
-A movie sequel.
-A cellphone prequel.
-A PSP prequel.
-An OVA consisting of two flashback sequenses.
-A PS2 sequel for one of the party members.
-And a cellphone game serving as a "missing chapter" to said PS2 sequel.VII wasn't that great to begin with and doesn't deserve the attention it's been given when other franchises Square-Enix have are begging to be revived, like the Chrono and ActRaiser series'.
Fighting games that use combos for everything.
Just about every fighting game has combos. o_O Even the games of the old days, such as Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct…
-
I'm slack-jawed in disbelief that people think VF is a crummy game because its characters don't have 'interesting personalities'. :/
Given that Tekken does have a ridiculous storyline and a roster of outrageous character which keeps it pretty entertaining, but in terms of game mechanics VF is far superior (and can actually be correctly called a 3d fighter).
Games I hate: Well I disliked FF7 so much that I only played through it once and even then couldn't bring myself to finish the final stage when I got there. One of these days I'll get around to it..
-
Virtua Fighter, as a fighting game itself, is a damn good and balanced game. Whereas Tekken simply requires you to mash buttons to get anywhere. :s
-
Like I said; for me to enjoy a game, likable characters are very important. I don't want to play as/with boring douchebags. It's pretty much as simple as that, no matter how super awesome the gameplay is.
And as I said in the VF thread, I'd be willing to give it a chance again… if I ever got a PS3 so I could play VF5.
For similar reasons I never felt compelled to finish FFX or FFVIII (though 8 is a good game that gets a lot of undeserved flak).
-
@Cap'n:
none of the characters ride on snowboards what the fuck
and they aren't outdated rhythm games that are being brought back in place of better dead sega franchises.
-
Hey, taking shots as Samba de Amigo is going too far
-
Metal Gear Solid.
-
I'm still mad at that fake sega list.
That was the only one that was true.
Samba de fucking amigo. a game on no ones most wanted list
-

What he said… Though, I have no idea how I got through Tales of Symphonia.
OH, I've got a good one for my hate list: Rockman/Megaman X. Jesus, I hate those games.

You know exactly what I mean when I say "fighting games that use combos for everything",
thats another game I hate that alot of people like, Semantics Fun-time Bonanza, I don't want to play with you Tsukento.
-
Guitar Hero(avoiding garbage), I just can't play it is all. Don't have the skillz.
-

If he doesn't, Bleach DS 2 is a perfect example.
and Tekken.

I wouldn't got so far as to call it a 'mashing' game (despite the abuse of characters like Eddie/Christie) but playing competitively depends too much on the formulaic launch and combo system. It's more about memorizing and timing rather than ingenuity.
And yeah, VF characters are pretty void of personality (though somehow I still prefered its anime over the Tekken one). Basically if I'm in the mood for actual fighting simulation I go for VF. For campy fun, Tekken. They're both good for different reasons.
-
I'm still not gettin the "combos for everything" comment. Somebody's gonna have to explain that to me. Not being sarcastic or anything, just tryin to understand his side of things
P.S. Tekken is awesome. And just try button mashing on an experienced player and see what happens. I will agree that they should tone down the juggles a wee bit tho, but not completely as it wouldn't be Tekken anymore.
-
Guitar Hero and FFX are two that come to mind.
Oh how I hate Tidus and Blitzball.
-
I didn't like Mario Kart 64….
I hated the fact that if you were in first and otehr were in last the better items would pop up more. I mean it should just be random the whole time, no matter what place you're in.
-

I think he means combocentric games.
Like Bleach DS, which is basically just setting up your opponent for those long ass big damage combos.
Or tekken, where game is basically trying to get the opponent in a long ass 80% damage juggle.
-
and they aren't outdated rhythm games that are being brought back in place of better dead sega franchises.
Oi oi, Samba de Amigo was GOOD. It deserved to be brought back. Especially considering it's PERFECT for the Wii. Not to mention, we got screwed out of the second Dreamcast game.
Besides, Sega's been reviving other franchises. Some have failed to grab people. Shinobi, Altered Beast (came out only in Japan and Europe, tanked HORRIBLY), OutRun, Phantasy Star (Online did very well, Universe is a joke), ToeJam & Earl, Ecco, Panzer Dragoon, and House of the Dead. While most of them weren't bad, they just failed to grab an audience. Sega's reviving the Golden Axe franchise, so it's not like they aren't reviving some older franchises.
-
@tony-kun: Oh I see then. Yeah, I guess that's sorta true for Tekken, can't deny it. And I can see why people wouldn't like a juggle heavy fighter even tho I love it personally (still suck in it tho)
Anyways, I still don't get why everybody bashes Tekken with the excuse of "button masher" tho. Eddy/Hworang/Baek are kinda mash friendly, but like I said, an experienced player will deal with a masher quite handly. Unless you know what you're doing, you will lose. But I'm sure I'll catch a lot of heat for saying that, but I stand by it anyways.
-
I'm not a Tekken player, or really a 3D fighter fan at all.
but I think people refer to that in how the game reads inputs.
Like in Tekken, you can input an excess of button presses and still pull off a move successfully.
While VF5 reads every input, so if you press Square more times than necessary, it will result in an action for every square press.
So when people say Tekken is "Masher Friendly" I think they mean it in that regard.
I play tekken more with friends though(none of my friends are into fighters enough to learn to play competitively), but as a competitive fighter I don't like it.
and alot of stuff in tekken 6 is just looking downright retarded(Mortal Kombat style multi-tiered stages.)
-
No soul have I.

Edit :who the hell likes yoshi island?
-
I always thought Bruce was one of the lamest characters in Tekken.
Kinda like that guy in every anime who you kinda pick out from the beginning as the dude who is never gonna win anything.
and I liked Yoshi's Island.
-
Yoshi's Island was fuckin tight.
-
Another thing I love about Tekken: the endings

Halo, Mario Party, Super Smash Bros Melee. Brawl could prove me wrong.
-
Some of them are really lame though.
Like Hworang's

Please do so
Mah boys Sagat and Adon are waiting to destroy the generic disgrace to the style that is Bruce.
-
Couldn't stand Perfect Dark 64, which makes my purchase of PD: Zero seem bizarre.

It's just the best 2d platformer ever, but yeah that excepted no one likes it.

I never found the appeal to f zero games
-
I also thought Yoshi's Island was awesome. Neat artstyle that I hadn't seen before (at the time) and platforming goodness. Oh well, not everybody's thing I suppose
