31/07. About to send the calling card to the 4th palace. I usually take my time to do Palaces, but this time I felt like I would be an asshole if I didn't do it immediately. So far the game is keeping me really hooked to the point I am always trying to rush back home so I can play it (it's been a week since I started it and I already reached 60 hours so…). When I finished P4 I instantly went to P3 hoping to keep the Persona atmosphere going, but to my surprise I couldn't go far. Tried P3 twice in the past and dropped it after a while... maybe I was burned out from the series style and it takes long to recharge, I don't know, but P5 is really giving me what I hoped P3 would.
I was a bit salty when I realized there wouldn't be clubs in this game, but that's ok. Sadly I found out about the SP Adhesives and since I already had Takemi S.Link at 6 at this point I thought "why not?"... I am afraid I may have ruined the challenge factor doing so, those things are broken (and now I have them I doubt I can simply ignore the fact).
Overall I am liking all the characters, the Phantom Thieves are fun (particularly Yusuke), Futaba plotline is really intriguing me (I'm biased though), Sojiro is amazing as the guardian figure, many Confidants really fell on my graces...
... that said, there is one huge exception...
... or should I say, a Ryuji excNO, I'm not doing that pun. But yeah, Ryuji. Damn... I honestly can't remember the last time I disliked a fictional person this much. There isn't one single thing about his character I find redeemable, I already disliked him way back in April, but by July I I can say I actively hate this guy.
I mean, the "loud bro" is a trope that was never my favorite, best case scenario I find them lovable but never figuring among my favorites, but Ryuji gotta be the worst possible example. He is not a lovable idiot, he is just an idiot. Whenever he opens his mouth and doesn't come out like he is actively trying to be obnoxious, it feels like a victory already. He is the kind of character you excuse because their heart is in the right place but in his case it really isn't (the scene when Yusuke is finally with a memento of his dead mother in his hands and Ryuji mocks him for getting emotional then procedes to leave and come back to literally burp at everybody's face when they start supporting Yusuke gotta be the best example).
I never understood games that gave you the option of dismissing a character from your group (like "if you don't like a character, just don't use them. Why would anyone get rid of the possibility of counting with that character if the need arises?"), but now I would be happy if the option was there, I would gladly expel Ryuji from the Phantom Thieves without notice.
