This is just my Platinum ingame team… nothing special, I know, but I'm still training them, and obviously the all-attacking movesets are terrible. Mothim is absolutely awful, but I always try to have every member of my team be of the current (game's) generation and not be a repeat from the team in my last game (Diamond), and Mothim seemed good at the time. The doubling up of respective move types on Torterra and Toxicroak are to cover physical vs. special, but I have no excuse for Fly on Staraptor, or Rotom's joke of a moveset.

Currently playing through Platinum using Torterra, Luxray, Golduck, Lucario (from Ranger), Umbreon, and Garchomp. Not entirely pleased with the team and I'll shuffle around later on, just want to beat the elite with all in-game team (except Lucario, I guess but he wasn't exactly superstrong or anything). I'm low 50s getting owned by Cynthia, even though the other 4 are cake.

Not really. Thats what I did for my Silver run. Even traded they don't start getting disobedient until their mid 20's, if even then. (and esepcially with traded level 1 critters.) And by the fourth gym they'll obey up to level 50, which is practically elite 4 leveling anyway and should be way above what you've gotten them to at that point. If you're getting major disobediance problems, then you're totally over-leveling.

That rule is mostly in place to keep people from exporting their level 100 Charizards over at the start of the game, not to really get in the way of the natural course of gameplay.
