What would you all's recommendation be when cosplaying a character whose color scheme hasn't come out yet?

1. Wait till the colour scheme comes out.
2. Do "manga colours" Blacks, whites, grays. (But that would be everything, inculding painting you skin.)
3. Just guess what the colours might be and have at it.

My friend is having problems finding a good wig for Ivankov. It's impossible to find a purple one big enough so weve thought of buying a blonde "mother of all afros" and then dying it. Ányone have any other ideas?

I personally went for a smaller wig for Ivankov, because his afro is not that big compared to the size of his head (and it was cheaper XD) But if you wanted a big one that's probably a good route to go. There was a fairly large one on ebay I liked, but I don't have the link anymore.

It sure was. XD It's a pretty crappy wig, but since it's an afro you can't really tell. It was helpful when I mounted the crown on it that it wasn't too long so I could use a sturdy foam sphere for it to sit on. So depending on how you plan to mount the crown a longer wig might work just as well. At the time I also was basically broke, so it was really all I could afford. I had originally intended to use this one and dye it like you were thinking.

I don't suppose anyone knows where to buy a Luffy Straw Hat that is not yellow? I'm looking for a new Luffy hat, but all the ones I find are yellow. I prefer the ones that are more of a very light brown/straw colored, but can't seem to find one that looks similar to Luffy's :/

Try a Michael's, they always carry straw hats and they are that light straw color.

I found one at a Ross's and also saw some at Wal-Mart that could work… I don't like the ones at Michaels cause they're SO STIFF D: but then again my hat from Ross is WAY too floppy xD;

I don't see how being stiff is a problem, at least it would keep its shape, right? Charli got hers from there and it looked really accurate when she put the red band on it.

I got mine from Michael's. I cut a few rings off because I did not like the width of the brim, but it was really easy to do if you wanted. It was also dirt cheap :D

Thanks for the help. I'll have to check out Michael's Thursday when I'm off. My current straw hat I found randomly at home, and after cutting a few rigns off it was ok, but it lacks the height.

I'm a little cosplay stupid, and was also wondering if anyone has a suggestion for Strong World Luffy's chain that hangs out of his jacket pocket? Like what to use, and how to have it magically hangs there

Well if you think about it, the only reason Luffy's hat looks the way it does is because he has a huge head. If a real person had a hat exactly like his, it would look weird.

Looks like it's supposed to be a pocket watch. The chain goes from a small hole in the lapel to the pocket where the watch is.

Like CatMonster said, the hat I ended up using for my Luffy costume was found at Michaels, many many years ago. (I'm Charli, by the way. I'm a LURKER XD). It has worked wonderfully for me, through many abuses and moves, and still looks great.
I'm looking at redoing some of my Calgara costume, and finally getting around to cosplaying Eneru in the future~ Been re-watching One Piece with my girlfriend and we're smack in the middle of Skypiea. (I'll finally catch up too, heh.)

Anyway… Halloween is coming up and my new friends in Japan are very enthusiastic about it, so I was thinking I should join the fun.
Basically I'm looking for a fairly-recognizable OP character that wouldn't require extensive sewing work or prop construction, since my resources are pretty limited. First thought was ID Crocodile, although the prospect of making a suitable hook and coat seem intimidating.
I'm 5'9", 145 lbs (~65 kg), relatively average build, brown hair, blue eyes (although I'd be willing to use contacts or temporary dye).

I did the opposite. I cosplayed Franky here in Finland when it was winter. I walked through ice and snow! And I didn't even catch a cold! Also my Gaimon cosplay was a little problem xDD The wig was huge and walking was hard. And my Ivankov cosplay was extrahard to put on XD

So I'm planning on being Timeskip Luffy for my next anime con in January, I have the shoes and the shorts and I can easily get the sash but I was wondering how I should go about getting his jacket-shirt like thing. Any suggestions? Also, I can't seem to find a Straw Hat that fits my giant head. >.<
