The great female antagonist hasn't been made yet.
One who shatters all the barriers/defenitions/etc.
No matter how ingrained an ideal is that dosen't mean shit in the end.
Who here has seen Alien? Aliens?
You know what I mean.
Sure weve had Sarah Kerrigan, and a slew of nasty Disney critters, but its a wide open praire for possibilities.
Quite frankly, good as Oda is in this regard, Japan really isn't the place to expect the great one to come from, unless were talking Miyazaki.
I'm with Taboo, I want to craete the ultimate female antagonist. But badass is not whats needed for the ultimate fem villain IMO.
We need that, but something else too.
Something…..Colonel Kurtz like. Heart of darkness. Violent, frightning, powerful, but it can't come across as being some Riot Grrl style bullshit.
Not some preachy "rebellion".
You have to scare off anyone who would rally behind the character as being a positive example.
You have to scare off the "hooray! woman kicking butt" people, you have to scare off the "shes just fighting mans world people, the "Omg shes smexy" people, the "I wanna be like her" people.
You need to remind everyone that this is EVIL.
She needs to do things like kill kids, rape a dude, terrorism, maybe a serial genocider (I don't think it gets worse than that).
And all this without making her mannish or a tomboy, she should be blonde and white, the stereotypically "pureist" body type, that will make neo-nazis repent. She should be pretty short, normal looking, basically muscular without being apsurdly buff or stupidly thin (like every female character in those DC cartoons). Foul mouthed....
As you can see Iv'e been thinking about this for awhile.:wassat:
Nonetheless, I don't think we should expect poor Oda to do this. The mans telling a great pirate adventure in Shonen Jump, not pushing the boundaries of the entire fiction/social world.
Thats alot of weight on his shoulders that I'm sure he has no intention of carrying. :D
